It existed in the basement of the Adventurer’s Guild. It is said that the current city was built just above the dungeon where it was discovered. The city, which developed thanks to the dungeon and whose dungeon resources are still a major industry, is physically integrated with the dungeon.
The A-rank promotion exam will apparently take place in that dungeon. In front of the entrance in the basement of the guild, adventurers were gathered to take the exam. Including Fana and Anje, there were about 15 examinees in total. Of course, all of them should be B-rank adventurers.

Emily, the petite woman next to the stern looking man spoke so cheerfully, enough to be out of place in this tense atmosphere.

The man who introduced himself as Gain said so and then he quickly went down the stairs. A spiral staircase is set up in the large gaping hole in the basement of the guild. This seems to be the entrance to one of the largest dungeons in the country.
When we went down the stairs, there was a vast cave from there. Gain leads the examinees through a complex path.

Three goblins appeared in front of the group. The goblins were attacking him, but Gain, who was in the lead, was unfazed, he didn’t even pull out the sword he carried at his waist. He simply grabbed the face of the first one who got close to him and tosses it towards the other two.

All three of them are blown away and they all rolled on the ground. The goblins seemed to realize the difference in power just from that, so they ran away.
There are various types of dungeons. Some dungeons had a constant level of difficulty from the entrance to the inner area, while other dungeons had a level of difficulty that increased the further you went from the entrance to the inner area. This “Vegaltia Dungeon” seems to be the latter. It has a hierarchical structure, and the shallow levels are mainly inhabited by weak monsters such as goblins.
And the deeper we went, the more vicious monsters appear. In other words, it is a very convenient dungeon that can be used by both beginners and advanced players. That’s probably why so many adventurers from all over the world have gathered here so it’s able to develop into such a large city.
Of course, there was no way that the promotion exam to A rank would be held at a shallow level. For a while, we just had to dive deep into the dungeon. We kept going down the stairs to the lower level again and again. Then eventually, we arrived at the fifteenth level.
We stopped at the level where the cave was overgrown with trees, then the examiner Gain, finally spoke,
“Alright. We will start the first exam now. The time limit is one hour. During that time, kill one of the monsters—the Escape Lizard, that inhabit this level and bring its corpse back to this place.”
