Chapter 110: Lift the curse first

“Reus! Great! I’m glad you’re here!”

“Uncle-ojiichan? What’s the matter? Why are you in such a hurry too?”

Zeta’s blacksmith workshop in the slums.

As I was teaching Zeta my knowledge of blacksmithing as I had promised, Gain, an A-rank adventurer, rushed in.

“The Adventurer’s Guild is in trouble! The Guild Leader too!”

“Huh?”

“I’ll be wasting too much time if I explain it here. Come with me right away! Fana and Anje, you guys too!”

Prompted by Gain, who looked that he was drained of blood, I temporarily stopped teaching Zeta and we hurried to the guild.

I didn’t know because we were in the slums, but as we got closer to the center of the city, the louder the commotion. A large number of people with luggage on their backs were apparently trying to flee the city, which caused a huge traffic. This is not a good way to go on the road, so I decide to jump over the house. As we jumped from house to house, Gain told us what was going on.

“There was suddenly a group of undead inside the guild?”

“Yes. It happened in the middle of the night, and I only heard about it this morning so I don’t know the exact details. However, there are reports that criminals who were imprisoned have turned into undead.”

There was also a large prison facility on the large grounds of the guild. As of last night, more than 100 criminals had been imprisoned there.

“The adventurers and staff members who were in the guild at the time fell prey to them and were turned into undead as well.”

“The undead are multiplying the undead…… Just by imagining it, this is surely a dangerous situation……”

Anje’s face turned pale.

But turning the dead into an undead is a trick that only high-ranking undead can do. Combined with the story of the criminals turning into the undead, there is no doubt that there is a powerful undead involved.

“Over there.”

When we approached the Adventurer’s Guild, Gain did not lead us that way, he goes towards a large building a little farther away. I’ve passed by it several times, but I’m sure it was a general store that sells a variety of products.

When we entered the premises, I saw adventurers guarding the entrance with their weapons drawn. Apparently, adventurers and staff who have fled the guild are using this building as a temporary base. I ran into the building and came to a space where products were normally displayed.

They must have been attacked by the undead, and the wounded were lying there. Healers are busy healing the injuries of the wounded. Meanwhile, it was Emily, an A-rank adventurer, who shouted loudly.

“It’s no good after all…… I can’t believe that the healing magic doesn’t work at all!”

She holds her head and screams in despair. We approached her and,

“Emily, I’ve brought Reus!”

“Uhm, what’s going on? I mean, this is….”

The person Emily was trying to cure was the head of the guild, the head of the city. A deep wound, which probably reached his internal organs, ran across his chest.

“……Last night, the guild leader was also in the guild…… Apparently, he fought the undead.”

Gain announces while furrowing his brows.

I see. Wounds from high-level undead should be cursed so normal healing spells and potions won’t work. A young man interrupted from the side.

“By the time I stepped in to help, this was already the case.”

I’ve seen him somewhere. I’m sure he was one of the A-rank adventurers who was with me when I was attacking the Rebellion base.

“I can’t believe that a former S-rank guild leader would suffer such a wound…… What kind of undead were there?”

The young man answers Anje’s question.

“…… It was Zebra.”

“Zebra…… Huh?”

“Yes, I’m sure! He had fallen close to the guild leader. But…… He is no longer Zebra. He was clearly an undead. Even though his neck was about to fall off, he was still laughing and talking after all.”

Zebra was also sentenced to death and was awaiting execution. He should have been imprisoned for that…… But he turned into an undead and attacked the guild leader, who was also his greatest enemy.

“Hey, Reus-kun, can you do something about it……?”

“Yes. At times like this, we need to lift the curse first, Anti-curse!”

For the time being, I decided to break the curse that was consuming the guild leader.
