This is a magic stone. They are what we call dropped items.
When you defeat a monster, you gain magical power. Some of the magical power was absorbed by the person who killed it, while those that were not absorbed appear as magic stones in this way. The magical power that you absorbed increases your power. In other words, a Level up.
On the other hand, the magic power scattered as a magic stone can be stored and exchanged in the guild. From making potions and strengthening weapons, to lighting and leveling up, magic stones are used all over the world.
For the sake of leveling up and getting magic stones, defeating monsters was the highlight of adventurers’ lives.
