Walking, Chapter 38: Reunion with an unexpected person

Together with the head butler, we head to the Margrave’s mansion.

“I hope nothing bad happened.”

“I think something has already happened though.”

On the way, Sue also felt anxious and talked to me, but I can’t just comfort her as I am sure that something has happened.

After the big accident, both Shiro and Ao were strangely quiet and only spoke with few words.

If it was instant death, we wouldn’t have been able to treat those injured people. In such big accident, it wouldn’t have been strange if some people had died on impact.

“Well, I don’t want to think too badly, but I think those two are involved in this case.”

“I think so too. The timing for these things happening is just too coincidental after all.”

When we arrived at the mansion, we were ushered into the same drawing room as the other day. Sue and I were talking softly while drinking the tea that was served.

Shiro cut in the conversation and spoke to me.

“Shun-oniichan, this might just be my imagination, but when we were at the place where the carriage fell, someone might have been watching us from afar.”

“If Shiro and Ao felt that way, then it’s possible that someone was watching us.”

“Indeed. It’s important to have keen intuition. It is crucial to be able to feel even the slightest bit of discomfort.”

“““Ahh!”””

While we are talking about this, an unexpected person came in and even butted into our conversation.

“““Guild Master!”””

“It’s the first time I’ve seen you dressed like this.”

The guild master, dressed as a noble lady, entered the drawing room along with the Margrave and a man who appeared to be the garrison commander.

The four of us were surprised by her unexpected appearance. On the other hand, the Guild Master grinned as her prank had succeeded.

“Didn’t I tell you guys? Alisa is not only my legal wife, but she is also the guild master of the adventurer guild in this territory.”

“O-oh. Nice to meet you again.”

“Alisa comes from a count family, and she didn’t start being an adventurer until she got married. She was doing it in between raising her children and working, and before I knew it, she had become an A rank.”

“““Eeh!?”””

The Margrave explained this to us with a wry smile, and the Guild Master winked at us playfully.

To become an A-rank adventurer while balancing work and raising a child takes incredible talent.

We were quite surprised. But then again, she knows a lot about Sue, and some of the things she talked about made sense now.

Everyone sat down once again, and the conversation began.
