Fran and Horn are sitting in the front row of the carriage, watching the scenery go by. To be safe, I’m holding them to make sure they’re out of harm’s way. Fran and Horn have already ridden a carriage a few times, and each time they are amazed at how fast the horses are.

Shiro and Sue share the snacks they bought with an elderly couple who are riding with us. They talk about all sorts of things with smiles on their faces.
“Hey, what are we going to do after this?”
“We’ll ride in a carriage for two days, and on the third day, we’ll reach the Barony’s domain. In the meantime, we will stay in a small village.”

I answered Fran and Horn, who are looking up from my lap. I explained our itinerary. First, we will head to the Barony on the way to the Northern Frontier Territory’s Capital. We are planning to stay in a village in the frontier territory for two nights. Although it is small, there is apparently a small inn there. The problem will be after entering the barony. Even when we were on my way from the Southern Frontier territory to the Eastern Frontier territory, there was a danger of banditry. This time we have little kids, Fran and Horn, so we have to be extra careful.
With that in mind, we arrived at the village where we had lunch. Since it is a village along the highway, it is quite large and there was a proper dining hall.

There are several menus in the cafeteria, and we order the daily recommendation. A yakiniku set is brought out, and Shiro and the others eat it with gusto.
“Ma’am, has there been any incidents up ahead?”
“Hmm, the territory is relatively safe, but there have been rumors of bandits appearing beyond the Baron’s territory.”
“Thank you for the information. We’ll take extra caution then.”
While we are at it, I asked the lady at the dining hall for some information about the journey, and she told me that there were bandits again. We have to be careful once we leave the borderland.
Now that lunch is over, our journey resumes.

“Oh dear, have they fallen asleep?”
“Yes. They must have been tired because they were having so much fun a while ago.”
After lunch, Fran and Horn fell asleep, leaning against me peacefully. Even if the old woman strokes their heads, they still sleep soundly without waking up. Shiro and Sue are also dozing off, so they would probably fall asleep too.
The weather is nice today, and the temperature is just right, neither hot nor cold. It’s a very good time to take a nap. There seems to be no danger on the way, and the carriage proceeds really leisurely.
And before evening, we arrived at our destination, the village.
We head to the inn and go through the accommodation procedures.
“There is one bunk bed in a room.”
“Then Shiro will sleep with Shun-oniichan!”
“Fran will sleep with Sue!”
“Horn will sleep with Sue-oneechan too!”
“Oh~, you guys get along well.”
The moment Shiro and the others heard the innkeeper’s words, they had decided who they would sleep with. They always sleep with someone after all. The innkeeper also squints at the exchange between Fran and Horn.
Since we are only staying overnight, we make do with the pre-made dinner.
Thus ended our first day on the Northern Frontier Territory. Since this is Fran and Horn’s first real journey, they fell asleep quickly.
