Chapter 50: Slave Traders

A big man was sitting facing an open window.

His blonde hair, untrimmed and untied, fell in disarray over his broad shoulders. He was dressed in an aristocratic style. However, his listless, half-open eyelids, combined with his hairstyle, made him look like a hermit.

The territory he is looking at is the territory of Varis. It is a frontier ruled by an old nobility of the Kingdom of Asgard.

The Lord’s Mansion is built on a small hill and overlooks the city. Washed by the mid-afternoon sun, the walls formed a gentle ellipse. The glittering outside the castle walls is due to the sunlight reflected on the adventurer’s weapons. The adventurers ride in carriages that goes back and forth between the city gate and the dungeon, bringing in magic stones and materials.

“So you are here, My Lord.”

Even when he was called out, the man’s dry eyes did not move in the slightest.

“I’m glad to see that you’re well.”

A woman with a hood pulled over her eyes entered the room. Her black hair curls like a snake, and her bright red tongue licks her plump lips. The woman brushed the dust from her journey off her black robes.

“I’ve come back from the Royal Capital in a hurry. I want to tell you about it directly than by letter. There is a potential slave for you.”

The man finally moved. He nodded faintly.

“……By the way, where is Lord Varis?”

The big man’s eyes turned to the next room. Through the half-open door, a man’s feet were visible. It doesn’t even twitch.

The woman sighed. Putting her hand to her cheek.

“My lord…. Since you killed him, then we must find another place to hide.”

It was clear that the woman was not distressed by the death of the man lying on the ground.

“Let me report first, Gideon has resurrected Skoll from the dungeon. But there is a boy who can awaken the gods…… Wolf bone Skoll can’t come.”

“I know.”

The man finally spoke.

“I heard the horn blowing.”

The woman pulled her chin.

“……Yorh. I’m sure you’re ready for the next step.”

“Yes. I sent a letter to Gideon in the Royal Capital through the Varis family, so if we continue like this, they’ll find us. Either way, it’s time to move on from this territory.”

The woman called Yorh chuckled.

“It’s true that ‘seal’ is a troublesome thing. Since we’re affected by it as well, we need human collaborators to dive into the dungeon to intervene with it…… Even if we have the means to release the monsters, we can’t do anything if we can’t get close to them after all.”

So, in order to come into contact with humans and negotiate with them, they needed to assume the ostensible position of “slave traders” —that was the explanation Yorh and the others had always given the public.

“But—”

Yorh laughed.

“Even easier to deal with are the nobles of this country. As we had the ashes that could break the seal on the dungeons, it’s very easy to curry favor with the Varis family.….”

The big man recalls a very simple situation in which Lord Varis welcomed the slave traders. With the “titan’s ashes” that can break the seal on the dungeon in his hands, the fallen lord soared into power.

However, the Lord’s restraint in using the ashes was only at the beginning. In the past few months, monsters have grown stronger, and more adventurers have been killed. At times, monsters even roam outside the dungeon.

“Maybe it’s at least a blessing that the Lord died before the dungeon spewed out an infinite number of monsters……”

The man neither denied nor affirmed. He stared out the window with unchanging eyes.

“……The Lord challenged me.”

“Oh dear~. I guess he wanted you to put out more ‘ashes’……?”

“It was a boring Spearmaster skill.”

The man holds his hand in the air, and light appeared in his palm.

“Look. This is the mediocre skill I stole from that creature.”

He held it to his mouth and then he took a bite on it. In the blink of an eye, the light disappeared into the man’s mouth, it was as if he is devouring a fist-sized fruit.

“……Not enough.”

The man puts his hand on his left chest. His fingers grasped at his clothes as if searching for the position of the heart.

“My heart…… Where is the ‘Power of Creation’?”

“I have my eye on it. The boy with the horn must have something to do with it… That’s what I think, which is why I rode back here in a hurry.”

“How do we take it away?”

“We’ve scattered puppets made by the dwarves in the Royal Capital’s dungeon to disrupt them.”

The man nodded.

“…..Skills that humans can use to a certain degree aren’t that great.”

“I know that too. But the kind of satisfactory skills My Lord is looking for can’t be measured by human values –they’re found among what they call ‘useless’.”

Humans only value things with obvious strengths, like 『Master Swordsman』 or 『Sage』. However, some of the skills that God has scattered are difficult for humans to comprehend. Humans call it “useless.” Because they can’t use them, therefore, they can’t understand them.

However, it is often these skills that are truly powerful when mastered. They leave a lot of “divinity” behind, and could fill the man’s stomach.

“Don’t worry My Lord, we will continue to collect such slaves….…”

Yorh bows and turns her back on her master.

“All the best, Ymir-sama.”

The primordial titan -Ymir, stared intently at the cityscape and the hazy greenery behind it. His right arm groped for where his heart should be.

Ymir was one of the first people born in the world. He doesn’t have a family, he doesn’t have companions. As a part of him is lost, he had no choice but to get it back.

“I’m hungry.”

Looking for his heart that should be beating, Ymir gazed into the distance, in the direction of the Royal Capital.

Hazure Skill “Alarm”, jitsuwa fūin kaijo no nōryoku deshita. Ochikobore no shōnen wa, nemuri kara sameta megami-tachi to yasashī saikyō o mezasu

Chapter 49: Skill: 『Miko』

Skill —generally speaking, they are the blessings bestowed on everyone by the chief god Odis.

In my case, it’s 『Alarm』. Mia-san got『Axeman』. For Felix-san, it’s 『Sage』.

The bond with God is basically only one in a lifetime. It also means that most people would come to the end of their lives without knowing any god other than the main god, Odis.

I happened to have met other gods, so I’ve received the blessings of multiple gods.

“Lu, did you gain a skill?”

When I asked, Lu laughed awkwardly.

“Yes, but….…”

Lu didn’t have a single skill before. That meant that she is yet to receive the protection of the chief god, so I’m sure that she would definitely gain one.

After a moment’s pause, Lu lowered her eyelids.

“I don’t know what kind of skill it is……”

Pauline-san spoke at that point.

“It’s very rare. Usually, when you acquire a skill, you can hear the voice of God at the same time.”

“That’s right. That’s why I’ve been practicing concentrating my magical power.”

As she spoke, Lu held her hand in front of her chest. Her posture looked like she is about to push something hard. It looked as if she is trying to exert all her magical power in one go.

“That’s……”

Don’t tell me….

For a moment, I felt unbelievable. I checked again, this time, using my skill. It was the ability to appraise something unsealed under my 『Alarm』 skill.

<■■■■■■■> can be unsealed.

I had goosebumps.

When I first met Solana, she had a skill I couldn’t read. I think it was the <Divine Protection of the Sun>.

But to think that Lu had the same unreadable blessing…..

“……I think it’s sealed.”

I held my sister’s hands. I imagined breaking the seal as I summoned my power.

“Wake up.”

Pa~an! Light scattered from Lu’s wrist. Droplets of light floated in the air and enveloped the entire room without disappearing.

“……Lu?”

Lu froze as she looked above. It was as if she was hearing someone’s voice from above, through the ceiling and beyond —high up in the sky.

“Skill, 『Miko』”

Those words escaped Lu’s thin lips.

“I’ll use the ability, 【Creation】.”

Lu raised her hand on the round table. The light gathers under both palms.

“……Put magic stone here.”

Even though it’s my sister’s voice, it’s somehow different. It sounded like someone was talking alongside Lu, with their voices overlapping.

“Magic Stone please.”

My gaze met with Felix-san’s, and we nodded to each other.

“Rion-san, do as she says.”

I placed the magic stone under Lu’s hand. There was one I had recovered in the dungeon we explored today.

Solana came over flying.

“……Creation? Did Luisia say that?”

As the gods watched, particles of light overflowed from the magic stone. The particles of light began to gather in Lu’s hand and began to grow larger and brighter.

I can hear a faint heartbeat. It’s as if something is pulsating in the light.

Then there is the sound of short breathing. Lu’s eyes, which had been dazed, came into focus. But her breathing was labored.

“……To protect.”

Muttering, Lu closed her eyes tightly.

“Dear God, my Oniichan, protect my Oniichan……!”

The magical power emitted from the magic stone turned into a single ball of light. The glow slowly changed shape, as if a seed is sprouting. The shape, reminiscent of a glove, was knitted with light threads. Eventually, on the round table, a shiny silver armor appears.

I can’t help but murmur.

“Gauntlet huh……”

It’s a high-quality piece of armor that provides excellent protection from the elbow down to the fingers. Transparent crystals were embedded in the backs of both hands, a bit like the Blue Crystal short sword. Perhaps spirits could reside in them as well.

It’s nothing compared to the armor I’ve been wearing so far, which is merely a slight reinforcement of my everyday clothes. Even the gloves lent to me by the Raven Warriors are nowhere near this level.

When I held it, it was so light that I couldn’t believe it was made of metal. Moving with the short sword will not be a burden at all.

Mia whistled.

“Five fingers huh…… That’s as good as a knight’s armor.”

Other adventurers also have gauntlets, but it does not come with a separate finger design, they came like potholders. But those are cheap.

“……I’m amazed.”

Thor exclaimed.

“It’s the power of creation.”

“Right, right?”

Lu looks up.

“I created matter from magical power. It’s the skill that created the world. Even among the gods, only Odin possessed this special power, which should have been unique……”

We looked at each other.

“Why…… Luisia?”

Of course, no one can answer.

Thor spoke.

“It could be the other way around.”

“The other way around……?”

“Rion. Up until now, I thought that you were the one being targeted by the enemy, and that Luisia was being targeted because she is your sister.”

My head cooled down quickly.

“It’s the opposite. The enemy was looking for ‘Creation’ —Luisia—and they found you.”

My body shook.

“Lu, then—”

Calm down.

I need to be calm. It’s not that things have changed. Both of us are being targeted by the enemy. But if the enemy’s bigger aim is not at me, but Lu, then Lu is even more in danger than me.

“No….…”

Those words came out of my lips.

“If Lu is in danger, I don’t think I should leave her alone.”

“But—”

I shook my head at Pauline-san.

“I think I received 『Alarm』 so I could protect Lu.”

Now that I think about it, the main god Odis—or should I call him Odin now? —grants skill to people. In that sense, there must be a reason why he gave me 『Alarm』, which can do unseal.

It may all be to protect Lu, my sister, who holds tremendous power.

“I don’t want to leave Lu.”

“……Oniichan.”

Lu stood up unsteadily.

“I’ll be fine.”

“But—”

“I told you right? I’m going to get better. Besides, Oniichan should think about yourself too.”

But I can’t get my thoughts together. I’ve always thought that Lu is the most important thing, and that I have to protect her.

And yet, she even had such incredible power….

“Oniichan, if you stay in the Royal Capital, other gods won’t be able to come out, right?”

“That’s true but….…”

“I’m fine. It seems like an incredible power, so I’ll see if I can use it in my own way.”

Still, my legs won’t move. My level went up. My skills have also upgraded. But my body is so heavy.

“It was your dream, wasn’t it?”

“……D-dream?”

“You want to be an adventurer who can go out into the world, like Father.”

The many stories I heard from Father. The ancient forest I saw in the Northern Dungeon. There are still many things in the world that I don’t know. There are places I haven’t been to.

“Oniichan has woken up a lot of people. Now it’s your turn to wake up.”

“Go forward” Lu added.

“Get stronger—I’ll wait for you.”

The familiar palm of my little sister’s hand, one I’ve known since I was very little. I felt like it gave me a push on my back.

She told me to go forward. So that I could run without looking back.

Mom lowered her gaze and said nothing.

“……I get it.”

Is there a man who would not be inspired by the encouragement of his small family?

I think none. As an adventurer, I declared,

“God’s wake-up caller, I’ll take on the request!”

Pauline-san relaxed.

“Thank you. We will investigate the connection between the Warburg family and the slave traders. Now, let me tell you about the first dungeon you will visit….”

—It was the dungeon nearby.

Walking, Chapter 125: Counterattack begins

We were frozen in our seats, unable to move at the disaster unfolding before our eyes.

—Except for one person and one animal.

“Tou!”

Zudoon!

“Jaaa!”

Aiming at Baphomet, who was about to eat the woman, Shiro and Ao charged at him with a drop kick. Completely caught off guard, Baphomet was blown away in a flashy manner without having time to take up a defensive stance.

“You can’t eat Oneechan!”

“Ua….…”

Shiro and Ao stepped in front of the Receptionist-oneesan and glared at Baphomet, who they had kicked away.

On the other hand, the Receptionist-oneesan seems to have not yet grasped the situation as she still had a terrified expression. By the way, Ao secretly used life magic on her to clean up her body, but she didn’t even notice it.

“They’re getting in the way of the fight. Arrest the thugs and get them out of the church.”

“Don’t let any more needless killings happen.”

“““Yes!”””

At this time, the Margrave and the leader of the Holy Knight gave instructions to the soldiers under their command to deal with the thugs who had lost their will to fight and those who had lost consciousness.

Of course, they also carried the corpse of the priest outside the church.

The Receptionist-oneesan was still too weak to move, so one of the Holy Knights carried her in a princess carry.

“S-sorry, Shiro-chan. Please don’t die.”

“Un!”

Shiro nodded enthusiastically in response to the Receptionist-oneesan’s words as she was carried outside.

“Muhuuu”

Baphomet was blown away by Shiro and Ao in a spectacular manner, taking the seats in the church with him. Then, he stands up with an angry expression on his face.

However, the others who have seen Shiro’s attack are now quite motivated to get rid of Baphomet.

“He’s a little different from the Baphomet I’ve heard from the rumors.”

“Mm. Maybe the summoning was incomplete. This one doesn’t have a shred of intelligence, and physical attacks seem to work just fine on it.”

The Guild Master and his wife are probably right. If Baphomet isn’t as strong as he should be, we have a chance to defeat him.

“Hehe, if we can hit him like that, then this will be easy.”

“Indeed. Let’s get rid of him as soon as possible.”

The chairman of the executive committee and the Margrave are having such exchange, but I think they are planning to defeat Baphomet quickly because they want to have drinks already.

“Hugaaa!!”

“It’s going to cast magic! Activate magic barrier!”

All of a sudden, Baphomet began to gather magical power in his hands.

Following instructions from the Holy Knight, Sue and I prepared a magical barrier together.

“Eii!”

When I tried to talk to the daughter of the executive committee chairman, who can also use magic, I was stunned as she threw a magic attack at Baphomet instead.

Zudoon!

“Guga!”

Zudododooon!

The magic released by the daughter of the executive committee chairman hit Baphomet directly in the face, and Baphomet subconsciously released his magic before he had time to gather enough magical power.

But even though Baphomet hadn’t gathered much magical power, it was still quite powerful.

Thankfully, Sue, me and the magician girl were able to block Baphomet’s spell with a magical barrier.

“Fufufu, attack before you get hit! That’s the iron rule of fighting, right Dad?”

“Sigh. I didn’t expect you to be so similar to me.”

“Without a doubt, that child is yours.”

In contrast to the smug look on the executive committee chairman’s daughter’s face, her parents, the chairman and his wife, had very complicated expressions on their faces.

That said, now that we know surprise attacks work on Baphomet, it looks like it is time to start our counterattack now.

Chapter 246: I don’t have any other intentions

The soldiers of the Kingdom of Embara, led by Eleonore, numbered less than thirty in total.

There were about a hundred and fifty soldiers in the kingdom’s army, and more than half of them apparently tried to escape and join up with Eleonore but they were probably caught by the sand bandits on their way here.

“The number of bandits controlling the city should be at least more than 300…… Even though we have powerful helpers, the difference in strength is too large at present.”

Eleonore frowned, thinking that it was unrealistic to retake the country with only this number of people.

“We have no choice but to ask for the cooperation from the friendly countries that trade with us. Then once we have gathered enough forces, we.…”

“Eleonore-oneechan, I can see it. That’s the kingdom of Embara, right?”

“Hn? Oh yes, that’s our country. The city is centered around one of the largest oases in the desert. But it’s the first time I’ve seen it from such a high vantage point. It feels fresh to me.”

Indeed, a city had been built in the middle of the desert where none had existed before. Part of the lake and greenery is surrounded by a thick double wall, lined with houses that appear to have been made of clay.

The white colored building standing in the middle of the lake is probably the royal palace.

“What you can see in the distance is the royal palace. It’s been taken over by sand bandits by now…… W-waiiiit~ when did we got heeeree!?”

Eleonore screamed.

“Why are we in the city!?”

“Huh? What do you mean? We’re going to get it back from the sand bandits, right?”

“Weren’t you listening to what I said? It’s going to be difficult with this difference in military strength!”

“But if we take our time, the damage will just keep increasing. If we had to ask other countries to send troops, who knows how long it would take?”

This country, full of women, is now being ruled by barbaric bandit men.

I need to release them as soon as possible!

『Master, you have an admirable sense of justice. But, you don’t have ulterior motives, do you? 』

Of course, it’s all pure sense of justice!

As the heroic baby who saved the country, I will be allowed to freely enter areas off-limits to men, will be surrounded by women and fawned over, and even gets to be sandwiched between their boobs and take baths with them. So yeah, I don’t have ulterior motives at all.

『It seems to me that it is only 10% sense of justice and 90% desire.』

I’m not the only one who is full of enthusiasm though.

“Mm, we need to attack as soon as possible.”

“There are only about 300 of them, right? We’ll have no problem with that!”

—Fana and the others are also in high spirits.

“…… Do you guys think that we can win?”

“Yes. What more, I’m sure that they’re less guarded right now. Let’s attack and recapture the city now.”

Eleonore seems to have made up her mind.

“I get it. Of course, it would be best if we could land a kick right away. Everyone, listen up! I’ve decided to begin the recapture operation now! There’s a difference in our military strength, but they probably didn’t expect us to attack so soon! We’ll take advantage of their carelessness and settle the matter in one fell swoop!”

“““Ouuuu!”””

Inspired by the Queen, the female soldiers raised their fists.

By the way, it seems that Eleonore plans to join the operation herself.

“Your Majesty, if you got captured, it will be the end of the story. Please reconsider it.”

“No, I have no intention of just idly waiting. Now that my people are suffering, it is time for me to show my pride as a queen. Otherwise, what kind of queen am I?”

One of the soldiers persuaded her to stay, but Eleonore declined to do so.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of  Oneechan.”

“Even if you say that, you’re just a baby….”

The female soldier looks at me suspiciously as I confidently assured her.

“The city has double walls. The area between the two walls is an area that anyone can enter, but anything beyond the second wall is off-limits to men. Considering their numbers, the enemy is most likely guarding the inner wall in earnest. Therefore, we should be able to get up there in one go. The problem is how to break through…..”

Eleonore, who knows a lot about the city, is trying to devise a plan to recapture it.

“Oneechan, oneechan. You don’t have to think about that you know.”

“Huh?”

“We are heading straight for the palace you see.”

Walking, Chapter 124: The demon that started rampaging

The priest walked up to Baphomet with an ecstatic smile and arms outstretched.

“How wonderful! Such incredible magical power. As expected from our God.”

“Guuu!”

“With this power, it’s only a matter of time before this Margravate fall into my hands. Gu-, gufu-!”

“Aaaa!”

“Kyaa!”

As the priest approached Baphomet, revealing his full-blown desire, Baphomet suddenly thrust his arm into the priest’s abdomen.

Baphomet’s arm had pierced the priest’s stomach, and the priest looked at Baphomet with a shocked expression, spitting blood from his mouth.

The scene was so shocking that the daughter of the executive committee chairman screamed involuntarily.

I myself wanted to look away from the scene in front of me. But we didn’t know what Baphomet was going to do next, so I kept an eye on him.

“G-God, w-why ……?”

With a large amount of blood pouring from his stomach and mouth, the priest questioned Baphomet with a puzzled expression.

But Baphomet did not reply, and the priest soon ceased to move.

Swish.

Thud.

Baphomet then threw the priest’s corpse, which was stuck in his arm, on the floor of the church. It was as if he was throwing away a toy that he had no interest in. He showed no interest in the corpse of the priest at all.

Thump.

“A, aa….…”

“R-run.”

We weren’t the only ones who were shocked by the shocking scene that happened in front of us.

Their leader, the priest, was murdered by Baphomet, whom they worshipped as a god. Not only the thugs, but also those in robes were trying to escape from Baphomet.

However, one of the robed people lost his balance and collapsed to the floor. In that moment, his hood, which had been pulled down low over his head, came off, revealing the face of the receptionist who had accepted our adventurer request.

She stared at us.

Thump, thump.

“A-aaaah!”

Baphomet seemed to have decided that the woman slumped on the floor was his next target. The woman’s legs were weak, and she couldn’t move at all. Her eyes are wide open at the fear of Baphomet approaching.

Thump, thump.

“Hiyaaa, uwaaaa!”

Then Baphomet reached her and licked her face with his long tongue. Her tears wouldn’t stop from the sheer terror of what was happening to her. She was trembling and wetting herself, soaking the lower half of her body.

“Guaaa!”

“He-a, ahaha……”

Baphomet didn’t seem to care about the fear of the trembling woman and opened his mouth wide, drooling as if he was going to eat her.

The woman also began to go crazy with the fear of death approaching before her eyes.

Chapter 245: It’s about to explode

The sand whale, as the name suggests, is a whale monster.

Its size is comparable to that of this magic airship, and it is said that it usually lives by diving into the sand. Its personality is very belligerent, and it seems to have an unusually large appetite. Even their own clan are their active prey, which is why their population is very small even in this vast desert.

Although it is rarely encountered, it is feared by many and is considered a symbol of despair because they will surely eat anything onsite once it attacks. By the way, the breath that erupts from its nose turns to a tornado mixed with sand.

“I can’t believe I’m going to run into something like this…… Uh! Has the God of the Desert forsaken us?!”

Eleonore cries as she looks up to the sky. The other girls are also lamenting their misfortune.

“But it’s a monster in the sand, right? We are flying high up in the sky, so I don’t think you need to be that scared, right?”

It was Anje who calmly pointed it out.

But Eleonore shook her head.

“Don’t underestimate how terrifying it is. If it really wants to…… it can even go to this altitude.”

Right after she said that, the sand at the base of the tornado rose greatly, and a huge body jumped out of it. Its body surface is the same color as desert sand, but it certainly looks like a whale.

However, while sea whales only rise a few meters above the surface of the ocean, this sand whale rapidly gains altitude as if it were swimming in the air.

“I-it’s coming this way!?”

“It’s over, ahhhhhh!!”

Apparently, it uses the sand tornado it created to increase its jumping power.

“Heh~, there was such a monster living here huh.”

“This is no time to be so carefree and impressed, you know!?”

Eleonore scolded me, but there was a reason why I’m so relaxed.

【Commencing the firing of the magic cannon.】

Immediately after that announcement, a powerful magic cannon was fired at the approaching Sand Whale.

Doooooooon!!

A thunderous roar rang out, and the airship shook. Then a huge body falls to the ground with a loud crash.

“W-wa-what was that just now!?”

“It’s a magic cannon. This airship, Seno Grande, has several attack functions to repel any approaching enemy.”

“It can fly in the sky, and is capable of attacks strong enough to shoot down a sand whale….? It’s a weapon that overturns the very concept of war then!”

Eleonore was stunned.

On the other hand, the sand whale that fell to the ground was already in a dying state. The wounds caused by the magic cannon was so deep that it reached the organs in its body.

“Oh, it’s going to explode.”

Its body seemed to expand rapidly, and the next moment, it exploded. Scattering blood, flesh, and guts all around it.

“To die like that at the end……”

“……Its flesh and organs are the favorite food of other monsters, and they will gather in large quantities in the future. Even if its dead, it’s still a nasty monster.”

A little blood got on the airship, so I put it in automatic cleaning mode to keep it clean.

“Anyway, now we can get down to the oasis as we want.”

When the magic airship hovered over a small lake in the oasis, the people on the ground was in a panic.

When I descended to the ground using the lifting function, I saw female soldiers on guard with their weapons at ready.

“It’s me.”

“““Eleonore-sama!?”””

The soldiers saw Eleonore and their eyes widened in surprise and happiness.

“Uwaaaa, we’re glad you’re safe!”

“We were worried because we hadn’t seen you for a while!”

“But what is that giant floating thing? It looked like it had just killed a sand whale……”

“Sorry for startling you. There were a number of circumstances that led to me being brought to this place by that ship floating in the sky you see.”

There were no more than twenty people gathered in this oasis.

It seems that there were fewer of them than expected, and Eleonore had a slightly gloomy expression on her face.

“I guess not many people could gather after all…. No, perhaps I should say that it’s good enough that we managed to survive. I myself would have been captured by the sand bandits without their help…. Well, I’ll tell you the details inside. You guys seem to be quite exhausted. Let’s talk while you rest.”

Walking, Chapter 123: Demon Summoning

“Gu-, Gugaa!”

“Agagaga!”

“W-what’s going on?”

Suddenly, purple light burst out of the thugs who were suffering. The transformation of the thugs is so great that even the Margrave contorted his face.

Just what the hell is going on?

Then, the purple light gathered in the air and began to gather in a circle.

“Hohoho, it’s finally time. Our god is coming!”

“D-don’t tell me…. No, stop it! It’s something you can’t handle!”

“What are you talking about now? Just watch.”

The leader of the Holy Knight tried to stop the priest who is smiling fearlessly but the priest doesn’t care.

In the meantime, the ball of purple light is shining even more violently than before. And then the purple ball of light cracked. I can see that dense magical power is leaking from the purple light.

At the same time, a strong wind pressure hit us.

“Oh, it’s finally time for our God to manifest! Fuhahaha!”

“Damn it, I can’t get close to them!”

“What’s going on?”

We protected ourselves from the blowing wind with our arms.

Then, amid the priest’s high laughter, the purple ball of light finally cracked.

“Gugaaa!!”

When the purple ball of light disappeared, there was strange creature floating in the air.

It was screaming something that was hard to understand. And the thugs who were suffering before were now lying unconscious on the floor. The thugs’ eyes were rolled up and they seemed to have lost their minds.

“T-that’s…. Baphomet!?”

“I never thought this guy would appear before my eyes. He’s the notoriously evil monster I heard about in the church’s sermons, right?”

The Margrave and the leader of the Holy Knight knew the identity of the strange creature that appeared in front of us.

It has a head that I couldn’t tell if it was a sheep or a goat, and it also has large black feathers on its back. It’s about three meters in size and was looking straight at us.

“W-what’s that?”

“It looks so scary.”

“It’s okay, Shiro will protect you!”

Fran and Horn, who were holding hands with Shiro, were also frightened by Baphomet and instinctively clung to Shiro.

Shiro and Ao smiled at Fran and Horn, telling them that everything was fine.

“This guy is incomparable to the thugs from earlier.”

“If something like this goes out into the streets, it’s going to be a big deal for the town.”

The chairman of the executive committee and his wife were looking at Baphomet with weapons that they had not used to defeat the thugs in hand.

Certainly, if such a monster goes on a rampage in the town, it will cause tremendous damage.

“Aaaa!”

“Fuhahaha, you guys should die first.”

“This is bad! Baphomet is up to something. Everyone, prepare for defense!”

Suddenly, Baphomet spread its arms and began to roar.

We followed the instructions of the Margrave and deployed a magic barrier around us.

It was that moment.

—Something unexpected happened right in front of my eyes.

Chapter 48: God’s wake-up caller

The enemy is the world’s first being.

―Ymir, the primordial titan.

Pauline-san kept her mouth shut for a moment, as if waiting for her words to sink in.

“Of course, it’s just a guess. But the content of what he said, the strength that overwhelmed even the warriors, and above all—”

Felix-san took over.

“I’ll explain from here.” He said.

“All the monsters that came back from the dungeon seemed to follow him. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

He wrinkled his eyebrows and stroked the coronet on his forehead.

“Above all, he was clearly different from ordinary monsters. He looked like a human man, and one with immense power hidden within him. He seemed to ‘resemble us’ to be called a monster.”

Felix-san hesitated at this point.

It was a bit of a vague word to say that he looked like us, but it made sense to me. In that dream, the first titan created gods in his own image. “Resemble us” might be the same as how Lu and I resemble our Mom and Dad.

“In that battle, the Raven Warriors were greatly reduced in number.”

Pauline-san spoke.

“Therefore, even if the power of the nobility increased to the east of the Royal Capital and even though we knew that there were slave traders there, we could only let them be for a while. Until we got the conclusive evidence in the form of these ashes, we couldn’t oppose the power of the nobles.”

The princess bowed to us. Her tall hat tilted, and it looked like a tower was about to fall.

“……If I had enough strength, I would have entered the Eastern Dungeon much earlier.”

Mia-san speaks up.

“……You, no, Commander, the reason why you entered the Eastern Dungeon was because there were not enough people?”

“That’s part of it, but the main reason is that I feel obliged to check the current state of the Eastern Dungeon with my own eyes. We are responsible for the east side of the Royal Capital after all.”

Once Pauline-san had finished speaking, silence fell in the room.

We’ve learned a lot about the enemy we’re fighting against, but that doesn’t mean we’re in a better situation……or has it? The enemy is powerful. Even the Raven Warriors couldn’t win. It even has the power to revive monsters.

Here we only have…..

My gaze met Solana’s, who is floating in the air. The goddess nods at me encouragingly.

“The Gods huh.”

Mia-san clapped her hands as if to cover my muttering.

“……I get it. So it’s no ordinary guy then.”

Mia-san summarized it roughly.

Pauline-san looked at her in surprise then she sighed very deeply.

“Yes, that’s correct….. Well, you’re really an adventurer huh.”

Mia-san shrugged her shoulders slightly.

“A-anyways, our enemy is no ordinary person… that’s what I’m saying.”

Mia glanced at me.

Oh, I get it.

It’s time for “negotiation” from now on.

“The word apocalypse means to destroy —or rather, to destroy again——both gods and humans. I think that’s what it means.”

Immediately after defeating Skoll, we received a whole message from God. I’m sure that’s why adventurers are preventing this apocalypse.

“Rion-san.”

Pauline-san looked at me.

“You have found the ‘unsealed,’ and you have awakened the horn that awakens the gods.”

Pauline-san continued.

“I would like to make a request to the adventurer Rion, who was the wake-up caller of the Royal Capital…… I want you to go to another dungeon and do ‘God’s Awakening.’”

I thank Mia-san with my eyes. If I hadn’t thought that negotiations would start beforehand, I would have been swept up in the atmosphere.

“Oniichan……”

“Lu, it’s okay.”

I took as much breath as I could in my stomach, calming myself down before answering.

Since we are negotiating, I should start with non-negotiable conditions.

“My sister and I are already targeted by the enemy, right? You guys will protect our family for sure, correct?”

“Of course. There is a seal here that keeps monsters away, just like in the dungeon. If the enemy is a monster, this will be a difficult place to attack.”

I nodded and then I pulled out the horn out of the pouch.

The next step is to check the premise.

“This horn, Gjallarhorn…. I know that you are relying on it. But now this horn seems to have lost its power.”

The horn on the desk was beautiful, but it didn’t have the kind of light that shines from the inside like it did when I used it before.

I don’t know if God will wake up just by my alarm skill. So, it’s very important to know if the horn can regain its power.

Thor walks around the round table and approaches it. Even though he was the size of a doll, the round table shook with each of his step. With his fiery red hair, he stops in front of the horn.

“……Isn’t this one of Heimdall’s sacred items?”

He squints nostalgically and strokes the surface of the horn with his thick fingers.

“I believe this one was found during the ‘Blood-Red Sunset’, right?”

“That’s right.”

Pauline-san nodded, and Thor narrowed his eyes.

“Heimdall, the god who owns this was the gatekeeper of the gods. He would watch from afar, and when a battle began, he would blow this horn to increase the power of the gods. He was also a first-rate warrior, but….”

I kind of understand what Thor is trying to say.

“I guess he fought Ymir.”

“Yeah. If he hadn’t been defeated, he would have been a strong ally, and we could have heard more about this horn…”

This sacred item also had its owner.

Suddenly, I remember the time when I was fighting Skoll.

“Oh, that.”

“Hmm? What is it?”

“I think I heard a human voice coming from the horn at that time. Uhm, I thought I heard something like, ‘My horn’.…”

“W-what?”

Thor looked intently at Gjallarhorn.

“Oh, you should have told me that sooner.”

“But it was only for a moment……”

I heard the voice in the middle of the battle with the Skoll. At that time, there were the raven warriors and various gods appearing, Solana gaining new powers, and a lifetime’s worth of surprises coming at me in a succession.

To be honest, I still don’t think I’ve sorted it all out.

“Well, I suppose that’s true from Rion’s perspective. Sorry, but this is big information.”

Thor stroked his chin. His red eyes are calm, he got the image of a reliable God of War.

“That god isn’t the type who falls easily. So..…”

Thor crosses his arms and thinks.

Away from the horn, he sat down with the pouch of ashes on his backrest.

“…… I certainly feel the power from that horn. If there is a god inside, it’s not that it’s no longer usable, but that there’s a time when it should be used, I guess? Hmmm…. Something that can’t be ‘unsealed’ normally —perhaps it only works when it awakens something special.”

Solana picked the horn up.

“Hmm…… In fact, it was like that in the fight against Skoll. I don’t want to make any assumptions, but I think there is plenty of hope in your conclusion. If there is indeed a God inside of this, it would explain why it only works on certain situations.”

“Does that mean it could be useful when breaking the seal on other gods?”

“That should be right.”

The horn on the table is still without its light, just like before. But if I can meet a God again, it may regain its power when I awaken it.

Solana placed the horn down and landed next to it. Then she looked up at me.

“Many of your skills are the result of divine abilities that have been distributed to humans, so you must have inherited the power of Heimdall, the Lord of the Horn, in the first place. Your alarm will be 100 percent effective with the right tools…… I think that’s the relationship between you and this horn.”

Loki and Thor, as well as Sigris and Uru, seemed to agree with Solana’s words.

My heart, which had been cold, became a little warmer. It’s a small fire of hope, but it’s enough for now.

“……Maybe I can do it then.”

God’s wake-up caller.

Like the other adventurers, I’ll be out and about.

“……Is that okay?”

Mom raised her hand.

“Are you certain that my son and daughter are being targeted by the slave traders?”

Mom stands up straight, staring at Pauline-san and the gods.

“Mom, that’s….…”

“Rion, let Mom hear it first. You’ve worked hard up until now, so… I want to hear it properly and be convinced.”

My mom doesn’t like that I’m in danger. She’s worried about me. If I leave the Royal Capital, naturally, I won’t be able to see Lu or Mom for a while.

It was Pauline-san who responded.

“Unfortunately, it’s very likely.”

“I’m sure Rion has some powers, but what about Luisia……?”

“Madam, on the point.”

Pauline-san paused.

“As for Rion-san’s sister, she may no longer be just an ordinary girl.”

My mom and I looked at Lu in surprise.

My sister nods stiffly.

It was a little late, but I now realized what Lu meant when she said she was “practicing her magical powers” while wearing temple clothes.

“Oniichan, me too…… Looks like I’m able to use skill now.”

Chapter 47: Ymir

It must have been because the word “apocalypse” came out in our conversation. The unsealed gods jumped out of the gold coin. They were all doll-sized and each of them sat on a table.

“They are…… G-Gods?”

Pauline-san murmured, and Mia-san pursed her lips.

“They’re all so small…..”

“Ahem- ……Well, we can feel the same sealing magic as the one in the dungeon here. In this way, we’ll be able to talk to you longer you see.”

Those were Solana’s words.

But I was grateful that they came out in their tiny form. If they came out in their original form, Thor would surely break some furniture…… With those carved shelves and vases by the fireplace, I’ll end up in debt again.

With her blonde hair flowing, Solana floated to the center of the round table.

“Nice to meet you, believer of Odis.”

Starting with Solana, the gods introduced themselves and talked about their true myths.

Thor, the god of thunder, talked about the myth of creation and the trigger of the apocalypse. Sigris, the god of medicine, talked about the brave fighting of humans. The hunting god Uru, talked about the situation of the battle from the eyes of a hunter. Loki, spoke about the reason why Odin, the god who was at the center of everything, made the seal.

“——Thank you.”

Pauline-san took a deep breath.

“Some of it is new to us, but it’s mostly the same as the myth that has been passed down by the royal family.”

“Did you know……?”

“Yes.” Pauline-san nodded.

It’s not surprising when I think about it…… I guess. Since Pauline-san and her group are in charge of the dungeons, there must be a secret that only their warrior group knows.

“Only the royal family has inherited a myth that is close to the truth since the founding of the country. That’s why they know the importance of managing the dungeon.”

The princess glanced at my mother.

“We explain things differently to the public though.”

I am worried. Mom looked stunned and was at loss for words. Her mind may be as blank as her white robe.

“……Sorry Mom. You’re surprised, aren’t you?”

Mom put her hands to her temples.

“Y-yeah. I’m surprised, but…… if anything…… it’s because of your strength Rion.”

She sighed and she looks a little hunched. That’s how deep her sigh was. It’s also because I’ve kept it to myself. It maybe heartbreaking for her.

Lu is also looking up at Solana who is floating on the table.

“You are that goddess, weren’t you……?”

Her big sky-blue eyes blinked.

“Mom, my body got better because the goddesss over there healed me.”

Solana nodded, her blonde hair swaying with her movement.

“I see…… So that’s it huh.”

Mother muttered softly and then she smiled at me.

“It’s okay.”

As she spoke, she looked at the gods at the table.

“It may be true that what I believed in may have been a little different, but I believe that what I was taught and what I did at the clinic is right.”

Mother stands up and makes eye contact with Solana, who is floating in the air. Then she bowed slowly.

“Since you have cured Luisia, I must thank you. Solana-sama…… right?”

“A-ah!? N-no, likewise.”

Solana scratches her head shyly and then flies towards me.

“You have a good mother, Rion.”

She whispered something like that to me. I’m proud of it though.

Pauline-san smiled.

“……You could say that Madam is a true believer. That being said, I didn’t know that the chief god had changed his name either. We’ll need to wait a while and confirm what we know.”

Pauline-san’s eyes fell on the black ashes on the round table.

The doll-sized manifested gods also stand around the pouch. Everyone had serious eyes.

“We must confirm the identity of these ashes. The Fire Giant that appeared at the apocalypse…… Are you sure of that?”

Loki, dressed in black, bows deeply to Pauline-san.

“Yes, it’s almost a certainty. The presence is so similar, and that fire is the only one capable of breaking the seal of the gods.”

“In that case, is there the body of that giant somewhere……?”

Pauline-san looks down.

Felix-san, who is in the seat next to me, slumped his shoulders.

“We have more things to explore…… the members of the group can’t even rest.”

Uru’s eyes welled up with tears as he nodded repeatedly. He knows it’s tough on the front lines.

They must have had a hard time…

Pauline-san thanked the gods and returned to the topic.

“Now, let me tell you about the enemy who is using these ashes.”

Pauline-san looked over at us.

“The “resume” of the apocalypse was what the being who was reviving the dungeon said directly to the Raven Warriors.”

At that point, Pauline-san paused.

“It is during the ‘Blood-Red Sunset’ which was the mass outbreak of monsters that occurred in the west of the Royal Capital.”

Our family froze.

“It’s the battle where my father died.”

“The Raven Warriors also sent a lot of warriors at that time and…. we lost them.”

Pauline-san’s voice darkened a little.

The Princess reached out for the ashes and scooped up the spilled parts with her fingertips. The ashes quickly turned into black smoke and disappeared, and her gloves returned to their pure white state.

“The existence of the ashes and the slave traders had been known since back then. However, we had not yet been able to link the two. The seals in the dungeon had loosened —we had become aware of this phenomenon, so our members had been actively investigating it.”

Pauline-san looks at me. Her green eyes were beautiful, but I get the feeling that it is filled with a very strong emotion.

I straightened my back to stop my breathing from becoming shallow.

“P-please continue.”

“The place where the ‘Blood-Red Sunset’ took place was actually a dungeon that had not yet been discovered, and a monster was also found nearby. As part of the investigation, Felix here and your father’s party went there. Then—”

She stammered a little, perhaps because of the sad development afterwards.

“A powerful monster has risen from underground.”

“That monster…. what type is it?”

It was Felix-san who responded to Thor’s words.

“It was huge, it looked a lot like a human, but it should be over two meters tall. There is no armor, and most of the skin is bare. But there were some kind of barrier that prevented us from attacking it.”

Felix-san spoke softly and calmly. But having been with him in the dungeon, I could tell he was scared. Because sometimes he seemed to clench his hands tightly, as if trying to stop himself from trembling.

“We found the same ashes at the site of the battle. There’s no doubt that he was someone who had been sealed in the dungeon and then resurrected.”

“Is it stronger than Skoll?”

Felix-san smiled wryly at Mia-san’s question.

“It can’t be compared to that. Can you imagine a large party of adventurers, including level 50 ones, being wiped out?”

Felix-san shook his head.

“……Excuse my impoliteness. You see, we gathered all the adventurers and Raven Warriors from the vicinity at that time.”

“I’ve also heard that it was a big battle.”

“It was like a decisive battle between monsters and adventurers. Although we defeated most of them, we also suffered heavy losses.”

“How much—?”

I asked, and Felix-san looked a little pained.

“At the time, we had several hundred members, but now there are just over a hundred. Our former commander died from injuries sustained in that battle.”

Father died fighting the enemy that attacked the royal capital—the enemy that was now after Lu and me. It’s not just about the monsters. As an adventurer, he was truly trying to protect us.

“Suffering such heavy losses, the enemy’s main force decided to escape. The giant monster spoke these words as he was about to flee from us.”

――I am the primordial titan.

――The world created from me will be returned to me once again!

“――Therefore, the apocalyse will be resumed….. That’s what the giant’s final words.”

At the mention of the primordial titan, something crosses my mind.

The dream that Solana showed me. The first creature to appear there, Ymir. He has the power of creation, and what he creates but doesn’t like will be……

“E-eaten…..!”

It was such a horrifying memory. Perhaps it was natural for that being. After all, he was the first being in the world. The power of creation is in its existence. It was all originally part of his body.

Pauline-san struck her staff.

“From the story of the gods…. It can be deduced that the one who annihilated the Raven Warriors and killed your father was the original titan ―Ymir.”

The cry of the newborn that reverberated throughout the entire world that I had heard in my dream. ―I felt like I am hearing it from outside the window.

Isekai Nonbiri Sanpo Tabi

Walking, Chapter 122: Rushing into the church

In the end, in less than ten minutes, all the thugs, which were more than a hundred, were defeated.

“What the-, they’re too weak for me to feel anything.”

“Mm. Just looking at them, I know they’re weak.”

“Ahaha……”

The thugs who were captured and carried away one after another were evaluated by the chairman of the executive committee and his wife. The people in the shopping street also looked bored because of the thugs’ lack of fighting power.

Leaving the thugs restraint to the soldiers, we enter the church through the open door.

When I entered the church, I found a thin old man in a luxurious priest’s robe, several people of unknown gender in robes with hoods pulled down over their heads, and about thirty armed thugs inside the church.

In addition, about a dozen restrained thugs were made to sit on the floor.

The leader of the Holy Knights yelled angrily at the priest.

“Priest, what is this outrageous act of gathering thugs and disrespecting the people of the town!?”

“Shut up! You mere Holy Knight should not dare to tell me what to do. I am an emissary of the Supreme God!”

In response to the angry cry of the leader of the Holy Knights, the priest replied in a calm yet angry voice.

Having heard this whole exchange, the Margrave once again asked the priest in a calm voice.

“Priest, I am asking you. What is the purpose of this course of actions?”

“It’s simple. To gain strength. The power to rule over everything.”

“What!?”

The priest grinned as he replied to the Margrave’s question, then he suddenly raised his hand. At the priest’s signal, a robed figure standing behind him began chanting a spell-like phrase.

“Guah, Hu-…… it huurts….”

“Oga, gaaah……”

The thugs who were tied up and were lying on the floor suddenly began to suffer.

Seeing the strange phenomenon happening in front of him, the leader of the Holy Knights hurriedly gave instructions to the Holy Knights.

“This is bad. This priest is trying to do something. Cast magic all at once.”

“Shun and the others, cast your magic as well. Don’t worry about the damage in the church.”

“U-understood.”

The Margrave also seemed to notice something in the words of the leader of the Holy Knight. He quickly instructed us to attack with magic as well.

“““Eiii!!!”””

Zudodoon, Zudodododoon.

“Damn it, something’s blocking the magic.”

“This-, our attacks aren’t working either.”

We all fired spells at the priest and his group, but something blocked our attacks and they didn’t reach them.

When we stopped the magic attack, there was dust all around. After my vision improved, I understood why our magic attack hadn’t reached the priest and his group.

“Fufufu, don’t be so impatient. The best part is yet to come.”

“Guuh! You had put up a wide-area magic barrier!?”

“Even though I look like this, I’m a little confident in my ability to handle magic.”

The priest had cast a magical barrier over a wide area, blocking our magic. Several holy knights tried throwing daggers at the priest, but just like with magical attacks, the barrier deflected them.

I guess the priest made sure that the ritual won’t be disturbed so he deployed a pretty powerful magic barrier.

This way, we couldn’t lay hands on the priest.
