The Night Queen, who’s breathing heavily, grabbed my sleeve.

“Bring Redas here as soon as possible! I’ll give you anything on this island. Take as much gold and jewels as you want!”

The Night Island is a place where a lot of such things are produced. I feel like there was an island with such a setting at Island Maker too. I rarely got to go there, though.

But how does the Queen mine it?

There’s no house or living quarters on the way to the mansion and I didn’t see a single human being either.

There’s no way the Queen is mining it herself, right?

I can’t imagine the Night Queen holding a pickaxe…….

Well, maybe I just can’t see it now, but there must be residents somewhere.

“Redas was taken away by a giant named Argo, right?”

“That’s right. He must have fallen in love with beautiful Redas!”

“…I understand. Please tell me where Redas-san is held so I can rescue him.”

“Well, then I’ll explain the specific plan.”

The Night Queen regained some composure and began to speak.

“Argo lives in a cave on the rocky mountain on the other side of the island.”

“How far is it from here?”

“It’s 10 kilometers away.”

That’s quite far. It would probably take about two hours on foot.

“Redas-san is also there, is that right?”

What was waiting for me there was a horse-shaped golem. Its entire body shines silver as if it was chrome plated. Indeed. With this, I will not be able to put it to sleep even with my deep-sea flute.

It can hear the sound, but the horse golem only glanced at me then it continues to scratch the ground with its metal hooves. 

This would allow me to ride close to the cave then.

I didn’t know there was such a horse. There was no signs of people in the mansion, but there may have been golems taking care of the Night Queen. It’s evident as the Night Queen is not exercising enough. It’s also impossible to maintain such a large place. Yet the entire place was clean from corner to corner. I don’t think robot vacuum cleaners can do that.

There are a lot of golems working here for sure.

She said that if I helped Redas-san, she would give me anything. If possible, I’d like her to give me some knowledge about golems. If I can get a book about it, it will be a good souvenir for Nowald-sensei.

I got into the carriage and set off to the cave where the giant, Argo, lived.

A mountain trail has been set up. The trailhead is right next to the cave, and a narrow trail stretches toward the summit.

“Okay, let’s go.”

Upa, carrying a great sword, walked out in the lead. Char followed after him.

“Upa, are you really going to come with us?”

“Of course! Cedie is going to slay a giant monster, right? What are you going to do if you don’t have a bodyguard?”

“No, no, I’m not going to kill Argo. I’m just rescuing the kidnapped young man. And Upa, you are not my bodyguard, you are the manager of the Auberge, you know.”

“No need to care about the details. Besides, there are no guests staying today. Even Lynn has given me the permission, so don’t worry about it.”

“That’s right, Father. We’re all going to have fun and defeat the kidnapper!”

All I have to do is put Argo to sleep and rescue the captured young man though….

We walked steadily and reached the top of the mountain in about 40 minutes. Sigh. It’s not easy to use the teleporter.

With that in mind, I approached the teleporter.

It is located on the edge of a small flat area at the top of the mountain. But it’s not that high tech. It’s more like the small refrigerator in a hotel. It’s about that size. First, I searched for the island I want to visit. As soon as I typed “Night Island” on the keyboard, the target was selected.

Good, I’ve got permission to teleport.

The teleporter cannot be used to travel back and forth without the consent of both parties. As for how I got the permission of transfer, Farh Jarg must have told the Night Queen about me. She’s ready to receive me over there then. All I have to do is press the transfer button and we should be able to go to the Night Island.

This is the Night Island huh.

I checked the teleporter.

The teleporter is only at level 1. If I upgrade it, I can teleport with multiple people, but at the current level, it seems that only one person can be teleported. The upgrade costs 50 points and 170,000 crown coins. I have cash, but I don’t have enough points for the upgrade.

“It seems that only one person can go to the Night Island. I’m going alone this time.”

“Char wants to go with you too!”

Upa still looks dissatisfied.

“I have the deep-sea flute so I will be fine. Well then, I’m going.”

I’m on the Night Island again. Even though some time has passed, it seems like the moon above the mountain hasn’t moved at all. As expected, it’s always night here.

I guess I should follow this guide.

After walking for a while, I saw a large pavilion on the hill.

The roads and other amenities were also starting to come into place. This island costs a lot of money. The bricks of the streets are embedded with jewels, and the lamp posts are even gold-plated.

In Island Maker, there were some islands where you could get a lot of gold ore so that possibility is not zero. It may seem a little lacking in dignity due to its nouveau riche tastes, but the impact is quite impressive. I walked down the flashy road and came to the pavilion.

“Hello there. I’m Cedie Dantes from Gandalcia.”

“I’ve been waiting for you.”

A woman with a soft voice greeted me.

She’s much older than I expected.

I had heard that her lover had been kidnapped, so I had imagined a young couple, but the Night Queen looked to be over 40 years old. She has an overly plump figure wrapped in a black dress, jet-black hair, upturned eyes, and her makeup is striking.

Well, she’s fat, but she looked haggard. She got dark circles under her eyes. She must have been heartbroken.

“Farh Jarg introduced me already, right? Please come in.”

It was a big house, but it was quiet and there were no other people.

“Are you alone here?”

“That’s right. I used to live with my lover, Redas, but Argo….…”

The Night Queen gritted her teeth in annoyance. She suddenly had such a fierce expression and I can hear her gnashing. It’s so scary to watch.

I was ushered into the reception room and was immediately given the details of the situation.

At night, when I was in bed, I noticed a tapping sound on my window.

Did the squirrels come to play?

I was already sleepy, so I decided to leave it alone, but the tapping sound came again.

“Really….…?”

Being careful not to wake up Char, who was already asleep, I went over to the window with the magical lantern in one hand.

When I opened the curtains of the window where the sound came, my eyes met the owl’s large eyes, and I was so surprised that my heart jumped.

The owl doesn’t even blink, but stares at me with its round golden eyes. Then as if to break the silence, its yellow beak began to knock on the window again.

“Do you need help from me?”

“Hooho!”

When I held up the magic lantern, I saw that there was an envelope clutched in the owl’s sharp claws.

“You came to deliver the letter?”

“Hoohoo!”

Apparently, it was the right answer.

The owl stepped aside so I could open the window. It probably meant no harm. Deciding so, I slowly opened the window, then the owl dropped the letter and flew away right after.

Using an owl to deliver a letter is not something that a normal person can do.

Maybe it’s Lebon’s Sambabano?

I thought so, but when I looked at it, the sender was the cave art dealer, Farh Jarg. The address was written in round font, “Baron Cedie Dantes”. Looks like the message is for me. I was sleepy, so I thought I’d read the letter tomorrow, but if I didn’t read it right away, he might send a second or third owl.

I had no choice but to cut the envelope open and read the letter.

It was such a short sentence, there were nothing else written on it.

What could it be that he had to call me in the middle of the night?
