It’s already been a week since we set up our main camp on Aria Plains. It was said that the Imperial army would be arriving soon but a lot of trouble among the Allied forces occurred.

Sigh, when other races gather in one place, discontent inevitably erupts. Elves and dwarves plus beastmen and wingmen. Then humans despised by the four races. Feuds between races that have been going on over a long period of time are not that easy to resolve after all.

“I can’t take it anymore! Please do something about the nightly banquet of the dwarves!”

“Screw off! We can’t live without alcohol! You guys who has been on retreat on the forest just won’t understand such good thing!”

 General Luan and General Gril glared at each other at the meeting table. That alone would have been fine but when I looked next to me, General Jagi and General Hisan were also arguing.

“Can you please stop hurting my subordinates just for the sake of testing your skills? That’s why the beastmen are called the muscle-brain race!”

“I just wanted to see how many wingmen are capable of doing nothing but flying. I can’t let someone that powerless to protect the back of our Naji army you see.”

Meanwhile, Edner watched their argument with an expressionless face. He didn’t blink or move in the slightest. As expected of a knight from the Duke’s Imperial Guard. But when I listened closely, I heard some snoring. Looking closely, isn’t this just drawing eyes on his eyelids? Goodness!

“Wake up Edner!”

“Fua!?”

 He fall out of his chair and he looked around nervously. Falling asleep during a fight…I don’t think we can beat the empire with this.

“Get your act together you guys!!”

 I activated my dictatorship skill as I slammed the table. The meeting room then fell silent.

“An intense war with the Empire is about to begin yet the generals who should be in charge turned to be this pathetic!”

 The five of them bowed their heads helplessly. I guess they know that too. They know but they just can’t stand it. Their wordless words reached me.

General Jagi looks up to me and speaks.

“Isn’t the reason why we are in discord like this is because you have no power as the supreme commander? If it were our king, the Beast King, this would never have happened.”

The others agreed with his words, saying things like, “If the queen took command”, and “If it was the King of the dwarves, something like this wouldn’t happen”.

The conclusion is that they don’t like the fact that I am the supreme commander.

 Shifting blame is also a good point.

“All of you come out!”

I walked out of the Allied headquarters’ tent. The five others reluctantly came out after me.

Bah! Getting critized like this… it’s time to end being the “person who brings these people together”. Well, it’s a little late, but it’s better to clarify the exact power status here.

 In the main camp, countless tents are lined up and each soldier is killing time by polishing their own weapons. Perhaps because the battle with the Empire is imminent, there is a tense atmosphere in the air. Everyone seems to be nervous because of it.

 When we arrived at the square of the main camp, we were stared at by many soldiers.

“All five of you, come at me with the intention of defeating me.”

 I turned around and spoke to the five generals. Everyone’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Are you sure? I’m pretty strong among the beastmen you know.”

 General Jagi took a step forward, exuding a glittering ferocity.

 Implicitly, he seems to be saying, “You won’t even know how you lose to me.”

“It doesn’t matter. Bring it on! I’ll give you the position of commander if you win.”

“Hooo-, that’s good. I’ve always thought that the beastmen should be the ones to lead the allied forces. I will be going against the Beast King’s orders but I’m sure he will understand that it was unavoidable.”

Jagi and I raised our fists and distanced ourselves from each other. Allied soldiers began to gather around us and started watching us. The soldiers of the Kingdom Army held their breath, and the soldiers of the Naji Army grinned.

“Here I come, Shinichi Tanaka.”

“Anytime.”

With a quick movement, Jagi throws a roundhouse kick at me. I narrowly avoided that kick. Seeing that, he shifted his movement to a back roundhouse kick. Once again, by a thin sliver of paper, I dodged his foot which seemed to be aiming for my neck,  then he made another roundhouse kick. Every time I dodged his foot, his momentum increases due to centrifugal force.

As I continued to move backwards, I was looking for an opening.

“As expected, you can’t make a move! I don’t know how you managed to win over the beast king who hates humans, but, I already saw through your ability!”

 Jagi seems to be good at kicking, he chases after me while spinning like a top. Actually, his legs are stronger than his arms. I’ll surely take some damage once I got hit.

Well, that is, if I got hit of course.

“Fuu!”

 I brushed off his legs with my foot. Aside from the roundhouse kick, the back roundhouse kick will always leave his back an opening.  As long as I get the timing right, it’s easy to throw him on the ground.

“Kuu-, It’s not over yet!”

 Jagi, who has fallen, immediately tries to get back up. However, there is no way that I will do nothing and look at it in a daze. By quickly intertwining his legs with my own, I made a four-leg lock figure.

“A-A-aaaa- e-it huuurts!?”

“Kukuku, if you give up, I’ll let you go.”

“Gi-, give up! I give up!”

 When I released Jagi, he showed a chagrined look.  He must have imagined a heroic test of skill, like my fistfight with the Beast King. Unfortunately, if I did that, it’s a one-shot KO for someone of Jagi’s caliber. Now he just lose his face as a general. That is my least mercy.

“One of you is out. Hmm, what  a hassle… then, all four of you can come at the same time!”

“S-Seriously? We are all generals you know?”

 General Luan was shocked as sweat dripped from his forehead. The other three also had their hands on their weapons but they seemed to be hesitant to make a move. Well, unlike Jagi, they probably has a good eye for seeing through someone’s ability. 

“If you don’t make a move, I’ll come at you from here.”

 As soon as I start moving, the three of them drew their weapons and made a move.

 First up is Hisan.

 By spreading his wings, he quickly soared in the sky and then he swoops down with a spear. It’s a pretty good move that takes advantage of his characteristics as a winged man. However, the opening of such attack is too big. I grabbed the spear thrusting towards me with my bare hands and then I slammed the spear into the ground.

“Agghh!”

 Hisan lost consciousness. He is the second person to retire.

 Next, Gril made his move.

He swings his thick, sturdy axe sideways toward me. As expected, this attack also has many openings. I think I can take a nap just by doing the preliminary movements. I kicked his ax up from below and then I delivered a gouging like body blow to his abdomen that’s full of opening.

“Uguaa-”

 As Gril fell to the ground, out of the corner of my eye, I caught Luan’s sword strike who aimed for that opening. 

His specialized weapon is like a saber. The flexible and sharp tip targets my vital points with pinpoint precision. There was no need for me to dodge, I received his sharp thrust to my chest. The iron plate of the breastplate I am wearing was pierced and the tip of his sword stuck right above my heart. However, the saber could not pierce my skin. That’s right, the tip of his sword stopped on my skin.

“Damn it! So hard! Are you really a human!?”

I grabbed the sword and pulled Luan closer, then I made an uppercut on his chin. He was easily knocked out.

“Now then… the last one… uh-”

 When I looked at Edner, he had his hands raised without drawing his sword. It’s a pose of surrender.

“Don’t you have any complaints about me being in charge?”

“No, none at all. We, the kingdom’s army, are in a position that needs help you see. I’m grateful and have nothing to complaint about. Besides, I don’t have the courage to fight you, who defeated the generals of the four races head-on.”

 He’s an honest man. In addition, he is the one who observes the scene most. He was probably looking for a chance to win by having the four generals fight me first. It’s one thing to say that it’s typical for a human but I feel like this kind of person would survive on the battlefield.

I draw my sword, raise it to the sky, and declares: (Of course, the skill dictatorship is still in effect.)

“I tell all my soldiers! We are comrades who share the same will! We are warriors gathered to overthrow the empire and restore peace to the world! There may be differences in race, but, there is no difference in the spirit residing in us. We are here with the same pride in our hearts! Follow me! I will definitely show you our glory!”

The soldiers heard my words and with “woooo-”, they cheered. The power of my skill must have captured their hearts.

In an instant, the soldiers started shouting, “Homeless! Homeless!”. I burst out laughing in ecstasy.

“The Beast King appeared!”

 I turned around when I heard the voices coming from the Naji army. Before I knew it, the Beast King was standing there with his arms crossed.

“It’s been a few weeks!”

“Yeah-. Well, Beast King seems to be doing well huh.”

 We hugged each other. It’s like we’ve been best friends for years. But why is the Beast King in this place?

 Before I could ask questions, the Beast King began to tell me about the situation.

“I was going to leave the fight against the Empire to the generals and Shinichi at first. However, somehow, my blood kept on boiling. I persuaded my wife and people then I rushed over here.”

“That’s a good thing! I too felt disappointed that the Beast King did not appear. If someone as powerful as the Beast King participates, this battle will be as good as won. Thank you for coming.” 

I and the Beast King smiled at each other. It’s good to have friends who are equals.

“But, you are so strange Shinichi.”

 While saying that, the Beast King looks over at the soldiers of the Allied Forces. Soldiers of different races were filled with fighting spirit through my encouragement.

“What is strange about me?”

“With such power comparable to a king, I can’t really believe that you are just an adventurer. Aren’t you really some kind of royalty?”

“That’s ridiculous. I’m just a Homeless guy. Nothing more, nothing less.”

 Woosssh-.

 A winged soldier swooped down from the sky. As soon as he landed, he got down on one knee in front of me and reported the information he had obtained from the reconnaissance.

“I’ve seen the Imperial army twenty kilometers from here, I think they’ll be here in a few hours!”

 The Allied headquarters went abuzz. At last, the empire has arrived.

 I immediately gave orders.

“Create a full army formation! Generals, do not advance until you receive instructions from me! ”

“““Yes!””” 

Things get busy inside the headquarters. When I looked to the side, the Beast King was gone before I knew it. As soon as he returned, I noticed that the Beast King was equipped with Flame God’s Gauntlet as a weapon. Considering his ability and equipment, there’s probably no need to worry.

“Shinichi!”

 Erna and the others also arrived. Just in case, the three of them will also fight. I don’t want to put them in danger but as adventurers, they won’t be able to do dangerous work if I keep saying things like that. That is why I plan to have them fight on the front lines together. Besides, it’s easier for me to help them if they stay close to me than for them to fight from a distance. 

“Are all three of you ready?”

“Of course! I’ll engrave the name, Archmage Erna, on the Empire!”

“Yes, we’re good. Me and Freya-san have practiced a lot.”

“Hahaha, I am finally making my battlefield debut with Pero-sama. My heart is pounding with excitement you see!”

I ignored Freya who got too excited on her own. It looks like both Erna and Pero are fully prepared.

A month has passed since I returned to the kingdom. Every day, I worked in the fields and worked as an adventurer. Well, there is no news in particular and the current situation is that we are living a leisurely life.

“Fuu-, that was a splendid skill.”

I gently placed the teacup on the table. Suketarou, who poured me tea, gave me a quick bow.

There was a mixture of tension and relaxation in the room, creating a unique atmosphere. I’m now at a tea house in the bamboo forest on the 23rd floor. It seems like my clone created it while I was away. Lately, whenever I have free time, I have Suketarou make tea for me.

Looking inside the room, the earthen walls recreate the atmosphere of good old Japan. It even creates the illusion of returning home. A scroll with the words, “I want to eat meat”, handwritten by Pero in rough font was tentatively hanged here as well. Despite the rough writing, it soothes my heart. The floor is unfortunately a wooden one. This was because we couldn’t find the grass that is the material for tatami mats. Still, drinking tea in a place with Japanese vibe is exceptional.

Erna opened the door and came in. Suketarou prepares tea for her immediately.

“Here? Who came?”

“The armies of the four kingdom have come to Mana! And the army representatives are looking for you in the city!”

Ah– I see. Is it that time already? 

I thought it would be a little later, but it seems that the kings of each kingdom sent troops quite faster.

“Let’s go to Mana then.”

I decided to leave the tea room with Pero and Erna.

When we arrived at Mana, countless soldiers lined up near the city. When viewed as a whole, it is divided into four parts, consisting of elves, dwarves, beastmen, and wingmen. Needless to say, they are probably the army sent as troops from each kingdom.

At the entrance to the city, Freya was talking to four men in armor.

“Don’t worry. Tanaka-dono will be coming soon.”

“That’s fine, we’ve been ordered to come under the command of Shinichi Tanaka. It would be very embarrassing if we couldn’t meet him.”

 The four men, who seemed to be generals of various countries, all appeared to be of considerable ability. They didn’t come for the kingdom exactly. Well, they were sent here in friendship with me. In other words, the kings of each kingdom personally sent troops to help me. In the end, this will help save the kingdom so there should be no problem.

I approached Freya and the four men.

“Tanaka-dono! Good! Talk to the generals quickly! Its too much pressure for me!”

Freya caught me and she pushed me out to the four people.  Even as a former knight, she must have been nervous in front of these four generals. There was an aura exuding around them that would want an individual to run away as soon as possible after all.

“Are you Shinichi Tanaka?”

An elf man dressed in armor called out to me. When I replied, “That’s right”, he bowed and began to introduce himself.

“I’m Luan, a general in the Great Forest of Sanargia. Her Majesty has ordered me to help you. I would like to be under your command from now on, I wonder if there is any inconvenience?”

“No problem.”

Next, a male dwarf in armor speaks to me. He is short in stature but his muscles are bulging as if about to burst. He also had an extraordinary air around him.

“I’m General Gril of the Rock Kingdom. His Majesty has asked me to cooperate with you. I’m going to show you what we, dwarves, are capable of.”

“Un, I’ll be in your care.”

Next is the tiger-eared man. He has a large physique and is equipped with a curved sword on his waist. His eyes are so keen, he gives off such sharp stare that when a child sees him, the child would cry and run away.

“…I’m Jagi. His Majesty told me to be under your command. I’ll listen to your orders, but only this time.”

“I see, then I’m counting on you.”

Finally, the winged man. He has long black hair that reaches his waist, and he is so lightly equipped that you can’t think of him as a general. His face looks exactly like Hasan’s.

“I’m Hisan, a general in the Holy Kingdom. I think it is easier to understand if I say I’m Hasan’s younger brother.”

“Oh! You’re Hasan’s younger brother! I was taken care of a lot in the Holy Kingdom!”

“My brother also said that he was indebted to you. For the time being, His Majesty has ordered me to come under your command. I’ll be in your care.”

“Un, I look forward working with you.”

After introducing myself, I’m now ready for a discussion with the generals. It’s the so-called strategy meeting. We get out of town, sit down in a random place and opened the map. Erna and the others seem to be listening nearby.

“Let me go first, I’m just an adventurer. Don’t expect me to do some tactics or strategies.”

The four of them nodded as if to say that they knew from the beginning. Although I am the commander, each of the general seems to be able to come up with a solution on the spot. In other words, all that I needed to do is to choose the plan to take on the empire. You could say that I’m almost like a decoration. Still, it is certain that I am needed to unite this Allied force.

Hisan raises his hand and asks for permission to speak. I gave permission.

“By the time we came here, our army had a reconnaissance squad. They reported that the Imperial Army had already begun marching towards the kingdom. With that, as early as a week later… here, they’ll reach the Aria Plain.”

He pointed to a location on the map. It is a border in the far west of Mana called the Aria Plains.

Hmmm, there is no village there and it is far from Mana. Isn’t it the best place to ambush them?

“Alright then, let’s set up our main camp on Aria Plains. The battle will start in a week time and each army should decide on its role.”

“That’s fine but…, what about the Kingdom? As the kingdom in question, there’s no way that they wouldn’t send even a single soldier, right?”

General Gril asks as he pulls a bottle of liquor from his bosom. It’s a fair question. After all, it is us that asked for help in the first place. It is impossible to turn the soldiers of other kingdom into shields without making any sacrifices of our own.

“Don’t worry.  The Kingdom’s troops are already heading to Mana. If it’s on schedule, it’s about time they arrive.”

“That’s good then. It’s better to have a human soldier than not to have one at all.”

That sounds like a lot to talk about. But in fact, humans are too weak to talk back. I would be happy if humans were recognized in this battle…

“What are you going to do? As the Supreme Commander, are you going to watch this battle from a high perspective?”

General Jagi called out to me. Those eyes are sharp as expected, he seems to be suspicious of something.

“I’m going to fight as well. Even though I’m assigned as the Supreme Commander, it’s just something like an arrangement after all. I think it’s better to fight on the front line and reduce sacrifices as much as possible.”

“As far as I can tell, it’s pretty good. It’s not as strong as our kingdom’s Sacred tree but it can be considered to be one of the strongest existing sacred beasts.”

“That sounds trouble then.”

Although I have Pero and Suketarou here, I think their chances of winning are slim. The opponent is a monster that can live forever after all. If things go wrong, it is quite possible that one sacred beast will annihilate the Allied Forces .

“How about borrowing a sacred beast from another kingdom?”

He is even smirking, one would really get angry if you look at him. The four generals turned their heads towards me. All of them had expressions of displeasure. At the same time, their eyes conveys message, “What the hell is up with this guy?” 

I stood up and decided to talk to Olban on behalf of them.

“There seems to be a mistake in what the general said.”

“…Who are you? Why is an adventurer like you here?”

“I’m Shinichi Tanaka. I’m in charge of this joint operation.”

“Ah-, the adventurer that was asked to be a messenger? Your work is already done. Get out of here immediately.”

“That’s not going to happen. I promised the kings of each kingdom that I would receive the soldiers from them. Haven’t you heard anything from Duke Medil?”

General Olban took a piece of paper out of his bosom and shoved it to me.

By King Logas’ order, it says that the kings of each kingdom should send reinforcements immediately. Moreover, it was stated that the kingdom has the full control of the command over this matter. And that the representative chosen by the king would be the one taking in charge of this matter.

“Did you understand? Give the command authority to me right away then!”

Olban shoves me away. I was involuntarily stunned by the sudden situation and was pushed down.

“Hey! What are you doing to Shinichi!”

When Erna tries to use magic on Olban, I stopped her and said, “Erna calm down”.

If you look closely, Pero and Freya are also already holding their weapons. I’m glad to have such relationship, but I think I should conclude the matter here well.

I stand up slowly and get closer to Olban.

“Buyahahaha. Isn’t that a great courage? You can’t just pick a fight with your kingdom, you know?”

“……I got to change my opinion a little. There is a human with a spine too huh.”

“Hahaha, that was a good punch. It was just like when you took down the Gigant worm.”

I was angry with the man named Olban so I hit him with one shot, but it seems that the four generals had the same feelings as I did. It is outrageous to impose the hardship on me and only take away the parts that are convenient. In addition, my credibility is completely destroyed. Such a silly royal decree is here. Perhaps such message was written in the letters I delivered to each king. If that’s the case, I feel sorry for them.

 We were about to resume the meeting, but this time, the human army came in lockstep. When I reached for my sword to see if they haven’t learned yet, one of them runs up to me.

“Long time no see!”

“Oh! It’s you Edner! How are you doing!?”

I and Edner shake hands. 

But…why is he, Duke Medil’s knight guard, in such a place?

“Did General Olban come here?”

“Been here. I punched him and drove him back.”

Edner held his forehead and sighed. I guess he wants to say that I did it, troubles coming. Of course, I knew that but still hit him, I won’t be surprised if that happens.

“So be it. The general delegated the command to me and returned to the royal capital. I’m sorry for the late participation, but let us, the Kingdom’s Army, cooperate in the operation.”

“I don’t care, but are there any opinions from other troops?”

Glancing at the four generals, they seemed to be telling me to do whatever I want. Since they did not have complaints, they should accept the kingdom’s army.

“It’s decided then, let’s join forces.”

“For sure”

I and Edner shook hands again.

In this way, about 450,000 Allied forces were formed.

“Yeah. I want to see Pero and Freya soon.”

Mana City can be seen on the horizon. We have finally returned to the kingdom. When I saw the city where I’m used to live in, tiredness came rushing in. The trip was very exciting, but activities in an unfamiliar environment would still place a heavy mental burden. In conclusion, I’m the type who feels at best being at my own turf. I want to eat my fill and lie down in bed as soon as possible.

However, there is something I have to do first before going home. We made the unicorns gallop to Mana and then we directly head to the Lord’s mansion. I must report the results of our trip first. Luckily, I was able to meet with the Lord immediately. I was guided to the reception area and there I met the City Lord with a face full of expectation.

“How was it?”

“The request has been fulfilled. I have persuaded the Kings of the four kingdom and they promised to send their troops. Troops from each kingdom will come here soon.”

“I see, you did it huh. Now the kingdom won’t be destroyed.”

The Lord picks up the teacup on the table and he happily sips some tea. He’s like he is finally freed from anxiety, he gives off that vibe.

“I have something to say though.”

“What is it?”

“Each kingdom said they would send their troops as they trust me. In short, the troops were sent to help me, not the kingdom. Will that be okay?”

The Lord stayed silent. After thinking for a while, he opened his mouth.

It’s probably strong in its own way. However, the Danger Prediction skill is not responding to them. Given that, it only means that they are not my opponent. Once I get off the unicorn, I approached a scorpion’s corpse and I acquired the Sand Walking skill. Perhaps this will make walking in the desert easier. After that, I tear off the scorpion’s legs and bake them on fire. The dark blue carapace gradually turned red.

When I put the scorpion meat in my mouth, it tastes like a crab. It’s like eating a giant king crab’s leg. It’s very delicious.

“Erna, try eating one too. It’s pretty good.”

Additionally, as I heard from the Beast King, there also seems to be a guide in the desert to reach the Holy Kingdom. He said that I could recognize it just by seeing it so we wouldn’t get lost for the time being.

There are cactus-like plants occasionally growing in the wilderness. Its surface is green and it has thorns, but when you touch it, it feels soft and flabby like a water balloon. It’s interesting as it’s comfortable to touch. The soft and moist feel is quite good. When I was absorbed in touching it, it was magically erased by Erna. She said that the shape is obscene. “We did it! We finally arrived!”

Erna forgets about me and starts running. With her feet sinking, she climbed up the dunes and from the top, she look on to the distance.

“That is Vinea, the Holy Capital!”

When I went up to the dunes, I could see the scenery that Erna was looking at. The reddish-brown outer wall encloses a vast forest inside and a rainbow-colored dome covers the sky on the city.

“What is that dome?”

“That’s a magical barrier made with ancient technology. It seems that everything was made by the founder dwarves for the winged race.”

“There used to be excellent technology long ago huh.”

Long ago dwarves seemed to have excellent knowledge and skills. But why there is no shadow of that now? I am excited to uncover such historical mystery.

“Let’s go”

The Beast King doesn’t seem to be willing to lose. Then I have to take this seriously. I activated my skill, dragon transformation, and then black scales appeared on my whole body. A tail grew from my butt and my face changed to a dragon-like shape. A humanoid dragon. That is what I am now.

However, when Bezel used dragon transformation before, it only become a part of him, but my dragon transformation was more like I turned into a real dragon. Perhaps my compatibility with the dragon transformation is good enough.

Erna helps me sit up. The Beast King also managed to get up by the help of the knight and the queen.

“That’s Ganesha, the Beast Capital”

From a small hill, I saw a huge city in the direction Lena pointed to. A brown outer wall surrounds the city and an elephant-like royal castle can be seen in the center. The Forest Capital, Zara and the Rock Capital, Perun were also wonderful but the capital of the Beastman’s kingdom is not losing out.

We then continue along the road and we eventually reached the gate, which is the entrance to the City.

“Stop there human!”

As expected, a soldier stopped me at the entrance to the city.

Is it because of the black unicorn?

For the time being, I get off the unicorn as told.

“This unicorn is just black in color but it has a gentle temper. I promise you that it won’t go wild inside the City.”

“I don’t care about those unicorns. Why is a human trying to enter this city where the Beast King is? Leave immediately!”
