Chapter 11: Try to help a lizard

After leaving Sambabano, I bought a large piece of bread, eggs, butter, flour and onions at the market. I had just sold the items and I had some money that Paul-oniisan had given me, so I have extra money. Then I went to the general store and get the things I need. I also got a ceramic jar for making pickled turnips, a large basket to carry on my back and a small shovel. The backpack basket will be used to hold the harvest, and the shovel is a tool for digging star-shaped depressions. Digging with stones and stick is inefficient after all.

After all, time efficiency is important, isn’t it?

The tools were expensive, but this was an important upfront investment. It’s better not to skimp on it. But if you have enough money, you’ll want this and that, which can be a problem. For example, I want a set of spices or precious sugar. I also want a stylish mug or plate. Cups and plates have come with the kitchen, but I still want to use the design I like. I don’t think it’s a good idea to go into debt to get it, but I think it’s an important flavor in life. Small joys are important too after all.

Furthermore, happiness is an important issue for me. If my happiness level is low, the points will not be restored. If I don’t recover points, I won’t be able to develop the island. If the island does not develop, it will be difficult to survive.

So I bought sugar, tea, and spices. It can’t be helped because this is also to bring Gandalcia closer to a utopia!

I was able to wake up refreshed the next day.

「 Status 」
Cedie Dantès: Level 2
Points: 11
Happiness: 91%
Island Level: 2

Today’s happiness level is 91%, and the points have increased from 8 to 11. It was probably because I was satisfied as I slept with full stomach. I had butter sautéed abalone, prawn and onion soup and delicious bread for dinner. I also enjoyed sweet tea for the first time in a long time. If I had a bath, my happiness level might have been 100%.

I think there are baths and hot springs on Island Maker but I don’t how they were triggered. There are still many things I can’t remember.

I brewed a cup of tea and reheated the bread on the stove. Just having butter on my bread for breakfast makes me feel so luxurious! Things that were so commonplace at the mansion make me feel so happy here. Next time, I’ll buy some jam as well. If I can get fruit seeds, it will be interesting to make my own jam.

All right, I’m going to do my best today as well!

I got dressed and went out. The first thing to do is work in the fields. Let’s see how the turnips that I sowed yesterday progressed.

“As expected. Turnip leaves are already shooting out of the ground!”

I knew this could be the case, but I wasn’t sure of it until I saw it with my own eyes. If leaves appear one day after sowing the seeds, I guess this is definitely the world of Island Maker. Even so, for some reason, rocks and branches always appear in the vegetable garden. Even if I get rid of it entirely, a new one will appear in a few hours. If I leave it alone, it will affect the harvest, so I have to remove it cleanly. It is quite troublesome.

Since it is a super accelerated farming that can be harvested in just three days, there must be something magical about it. There was no point in complaining though. I cleaned up the rocks and branches. I’m putting the rocks to the corners of the field and the branches will be delivered to Lulu in batches.

The fisherman’s hut does not have a magic stove, so branches are used exclusively for cooking. In addition, Lulu can dive deep into the ocean in search of prey. Since her body gets cold that way, a bonfire has become an indispensable item in her place.

The cleaning of the vegetable garden was almost finished. Only a large rock was left at the end. It’s bigger than my head, and it’s too heavy for me as a child to lift. However, if I use a lever to roll it, I should be able to get it out of the field.

“All right, hook the shovel to the edge of the rock then……huh?”

There is a small creature in the corner of the large rock.

This is…… a yellow lizard?

A reptile about 10 centimeters long was curled up in the shade of a rock.

“Hey, I’m going to move this rock now. It’s dangerous so please get out of the way.”

I called out to it, but the lizard didn’t move. It was staring sadly at my face with its wet black eyes.

“Perhaps…. you can’t move?”

To my surprise, the yellow lizard nodded slightly. Even more surprising is the glittering body of the yellow lizard. This is a sign that points can be allocated to it.

Can be trained (Pet)
Description: Would you like to help the poor creature?
Required points: 3
Note: Points can be assigned to the plant and animals of the island.
Animals and plants that were allocated with points will grow quickly.

The lizard was so weak that it looked like it would die if left untreated. Fortunately, I have 11 points so it is possible to train it. The lizard keeps staring at my face. I couldn’t just pretend that I didn’t know when it looked at me like that.

“Okay, I’ll help you now.”

I wanted to allocate the points to buy a cottage furniture but I guess it couldn’t be helped this time. Let’s  just say I want to raise this child. When the ball of light that flew out of me collided with the lizard, it immediately regained its energy. Its squishy eyes, which were wet with sadness, are now already full of life.

It came up to me happily, so I stroked its head and it seemed to be pleased. It’s cute when I look at it like this. Oh, it climbed from my leg to my shoulder. It seems to have grown attached to me.

“After I move this rock, I’m going to explore the forest. Do you want to come with me?”

I asked, and the lizard nodded at my words. It seems to understand my words.

What a clever lizard!

It’s not a bad idea to make it my pet. I’m now level 2, so I can train it to the next level. The required number of points is 8, which is exactly the same as the points I still have. It looks interesting, so I decided to train this lizard to the next level. Happiness requires a fun companion after all. With that in mind, I used the rest of the points to level it up.

After working in the fields, I took a bundle of dead branches to Lulu.

“Oh my, you brought a cute little thing with you today. Hello little lizard.”

“It’s not little lizard. It’s Charlotte. I just named it.”

“Oh, I see. You’ve given it a cute name. Charlotte, would you like some fish?”

Lulu offers Charlotte a fillet of horse mackerel but Charlotte turned to the side. It doesn’t seem to be hungry.

……Eh?

“Charlotte, aren’t you a little bigger?”

“What’s the matter, Cedie?”

“It’s about this size when I first found it, but it has gotten bigger.”

“Eh~, is it really possible for it to grow so suddenly?”

I don’t know either.

But I’m sure that it was about 10 centimeters at first. But now I think it’s more than 15 centimeters.

Maybe it is the effect of allocating points to it?

“Hey, how big are you going to get?”

I asked, but Charlotte just tilted her head curiously.
