We decided it would be best to take it easy and get some rest for the day, so we ended the conversation there. A servant then led Ao and me to our guest room.
Sue, meanwhile, said she was going to return to her own room and relax until dinner. It had apparently been a while since she’d had a chance to spend some time there.

Rolling, rolling, rolling.
The moment the servant opened the door to the guest room, we found Shiro, Fran, and Horn sprawled across the enormous bed, rolling around lazily. The servant and the rest of us froze for a moment, completely baffled by the sight before us.
“Oh, Oniichan! Welcome back!”
“Shiro, what exactly are you doing?”
“Sarah-san said we should relax until dinner.”
““So that’s what we’re doing!””
Right. So basically, Shiro and the others had nothing to do, and had decided to spend their free time rolling around on the bed. Incidentally, the bed was enormous—easily big enough for four people to sleep on together.
Though knowing them, they’d probably take turns going over to Sue’s room and sleeping with her.
“If you require anything, please do not hesitate to let me know.”
The servant gave us a brief explanation of the guest room and its amenities before leaving.
So this room has its own bath and toilet, too huh. And the toilet was even a state-of-the-art magical device. As expected of the residence of the Knight Commander.
Just as I was thinking that, Ao had already begun filling the bathtub with hot water using magic.
Meanwhile, Shiro and the others were already stark naked.
“Shun-oniichan, come take a bath with us!”
“Hurry!”
“All right, all right. Give me a second to get undressed.”
Come to think of it, we’d spent the entire journey from the Western Frontier Territory to the royal capital camping out along the way. I hadn’t really had a proper bath in quite some time.

“Don’t get too carried away. Come on, we’ll wash up one at a time.”
Shiro and the others were clearly thrilled to have a bath again after so long, and before I knew it, the bathroom had become quite the noisy affair.
“Wow! Everything looks so delicious!”
“It smells amazing!”
“There’s meat and vegetables, too!”
Then, when dinner time finally came, an incredibly lavish spread had been laid out across the table.
“Today, we’re celebrating Sue’s safe return, as well as welcoming Shun and the others.”
“I’m sorry you went to so much trouble for us.”
Gandof-sama spoke with a warm smile, and looking at the feast before us, I couldn’t help but think, Now this is what you call noble cuisine.
Since Shiro and the others were joining us, we decided to toast with juice instead of alcohol.
“Then, let us raise our glasses to Sue’s safe return and to welcoming Shun and the others. Cheers!”
“““Cheers!”””
With Gandof-sama’s toast, dinner officially began.
The meat had been cut into bite-sized pieces so that Fran and Horn could eat it more easily.
“Wow! This meat is so delicious!”
“I can eat lots of meat like this!”
“(Nom, nom…) The vegetables are yummy, too.”
Shiro and the others happily dug into their meals, grinning from ear to ear. Sue and I occasionally wiped the corners of Fran and Horn’s mouths whenever they got food on themselves.
“I’m sorry, Gandof-sama. I’m afraid we’ve made dinner rather noisy.”
“There’s nothing to apologize for. When there are children around, a lively meal is only natural. And seeing them enjoy the food so much makes me happy.”
Gandof-sama narrowed his eyes fondly as he watched Shiro and the others happily eating away.
“Brett-san was the same when he was little. He used to eat with a big smile on his face. Sue, on the other hand, was always the quiet one when it came to meals.”
“Oh my, so even Brett-san was like that when he was little?”
“Father, you really don’t need to bring that up right now…”
Before I knew it, Gandof-sama had started telling us stories about what Brett-san and Sue had been like when they were children.
And so, with smiles and laughter filling the room, dinner continued on pleasantly.
“I want to sleep with Sue-oneechan.”
Shiro started.
“Fran is sleeping with Sue today.”
“Horn wants to join in, too.”
“Alright then, let’s all sleep together.”
“““Yey!”””
And so, when bedtime came, it turned out that Shiro and the others were all going to sleep with Sue. That left me to sleep alone with Ao—feeling a bit lonely.
Yeah… the bed is so huge that I actually find it hard to sleep by myself.
