Chapter 304: The worst kind of teacher

“There’s a town just up ahead.”

Dana said, leading the way. We followed her for a while across the rocky terrain. But when she stopped and gestured before us, all we saw was barren wilderness stretching to the horizon.

“Mm. Where?”

“I don’t see any town.”

Anje and Fana looked around curiously.

“…So you truly have lost your memories.”

Dana murmured, pity flickering in her eyes.

“Anyone born and raised on this island would know about this.”

(…A barrier huh.)

『Indeed. And quite an advanced one too. It not only conceals the town from outside view but also weaves in several other enchantments.』

Even from the airship, we hadn’t been able to spot any sign of a town. Now it was clear why. The settlement had been hidden within a powerful barrier.

“It’s designed to keep monsters out. There aren’t any native to the island, but on rare occasions, a creature with strong flight abilities like that dragon earlier may wander in from outside.”

The barrier allowed us to pass through effortlessly. It repelled monsters, yet seemed to permit humans—even outsiders like us—to enter without issue.

“It’s warm in here!”

“Mm. The air’s thicker too.”

“There’s even greenery!”

“The barrier also regulates the environment. It maintains a temperature and air density comfortable for human life.”

What an astonishingly versatile barrier.

Just as Lindwurm had said, its structure was intricate—an advanced piece of magical engineering. If the people of this island were maintaining something of this scale themselves, then their mastery of magic was no small feat.

“Without the barrier, life here would be impossible. Naturally, every other settlement on the island is protected by one as well.”

“So when you say other settlements, you mean there are more towns here, Dana-oneechan?”

“Yes. At present, this island holds more than ten towns, home to roughly two hundred thousand people.”

Apparently, towns were scattered all across the island. Because the land outside the barriers was so harsh and uninhabitable, travel between them was rare. Each settlement seemed to live in near-complete self-sufficiency, sustaining itself within its protective dome.

Dana led us to her home. It’s a fairly impressive residence, with what looked like a workshop attached to it.

“As you can see, I’m a magitech artisan. I specialize in creating and developing magical tools for everyday use.”

“Oh? Then that ship-looking thing from earlier….was that one of your magic devices too?”

“W–well… yes, something like that.”

She answered, averting her eyes slightly.

Apparently, on this island, where natural resources were scarce, nearly everything relied on magic. Food, clothing, even the very houses themselves were all products of magical creation. It wasn’t quite on the level of the magic metropolis Endelsen, but it was clear that the island’s magical technology far surpassed that of the surface world.

“Amazing. To sustain two hundred thousand people on a barren island like this… it’s incredible.”

 Anje murmured, genuinely impressed.

“That is all thanks to the Three Sages of the Beginning.”

Three Sages of the Beginning?

“Mm. Who’re they?”

Fana tilted her head.

“What—!? You mean to tell me you’ve forgotten even them?”

Dana stared at us in disbelief.

Still speechless, she eventually sighed and began to explain.

“They were the three great magi who first cultivated this island. Our ancestors once lived on the surface, enslaved and oppressed by a certain nation. But the Three Sages saved them, leading our people here—to this land of peace and freedom.”

Though the island had once been a harsh and lifeless place, the Three Sages transformed it in the blink of an eye with their magic, reshaping it into a land where humans could thrive. They had also shared their vast knowledge of magic freely, teaching the settlers everything they knew.

The barriers protecting each town were among their creations, now maintained by the island’s own mages who inherited that legacy.

“Since then, we’ve lived here in peace. Our ancestors numbered only a few thousand when they first arrived, yet now our people have grown to two hundred thousand. That alone speaks to how comfortable life on this floating island has become.”

The names of those legendary three were Avices, Monides, and Domas.

(Huh? Those names sound kind of familiar. Linlin, do you know them?)

『Indeed I do. Those three were once your apprentices, Master. The disciples who trained under you at the Tower of the Great Sage.』

(Ah, right! That’s why I remembered them!)

I recalled now—each of them had been young and full of promise back then. I didn’t know the full story, but it seemed that after my death, they had gathered an oppressed people and brought them here, to this floating island.

“Our ancestors arrived aboard a great ship built by the Three Sages themselves. Normally, ships are meant to travel across the sea, but this one… it could soar through the skies.”

A giant ship, huh?

Most likely it’s a magic-powered airship. But it would have to be far beyond ordinary models to carry a group of people across the sky.

“It still exists. It’s enshrined within the Grand Temple. I’ve visited it myself a few times.”

So the vessel had survived all this time. That alone was enough to spark my curiosity.

(A magic airship crafted by those three, huh. I’ll have to see for myself what kind of work my apprentices managed to produce.)

『…You really are the worst kind of teacher, Master.』

I turned to the others with a grin.

“Since we’re here, why not go take a look at that ship? Maybe seeing it will help jog our memories. Dana-oneechan, where is this Grand Temple located?”

“It’s in the town on the western side of the island. That’s said to be the very first settlement our ancestors built when they arrived. If you wish to go there, you can take one of the regular transport ships.”

Apparently, there’s a special magical tool for traveling between towns on this island.

However, it only departs once a month, and the next trip isn’t until two weeks later.

“I can’t wait two weeks.”

“Hm.”

“You’re right. It’s only about 20 kilometers away, so I think we should just head there normally.”

“No way! We’re on the east side of the island, and if we want to go to the town on the west, we’ll have to go around the mountain in the center! Going there on foot would be suicidal! And with such scanty clothing too!”

Walking, Chapter 211: Helping out at the hospital

As the martial arts tournament drew steadily closer, we’ve decided to tone down our adventuring activities in town and focus on treating soldiers and treating patients at the hospital. The Margravate was growing busier by the day, with more and more visitors arriving from outside the capital, so it was only natural that we took extra care to ensure Fina-san’s safety.

From then on, whenever she went out, Fina-san was required to travel by carriage. Of course, for someone as friendly and talkative as Fina-san, being unable to stop and chat freely with the townspeople made her a little restless and a bit lonely.

“Good afternoon!”

“Fina-sama, everyone—we’ve been expecting you.”

Today, we visited the hospital as a group to provide treatment for the injured and the ill. Upon our arrival by carriage, the hospital staff came forward to greet us with polite efficiency. Without delay, we divided our duties and began our work.

“Shiro, please attend to the lightly injured patients together with Sue and Lady Fina. Horn and I will focus on the more serious cases.”

I instructed.

“““Understood”””

“Do your best, Horn.”

Fina-san added warmly.

“Yes, I will.”

Horn replied with quiet determination.

With our roles clearly assigned, I led Horn towards the ward where the more severely injured patients awaited us. Her small hands were clenched into fists, her expression firm with resolve.

Shiiing!

“How does that feel?”

“Oh! Much better already. Thank you, young lady.”

“I’m glad to hear that.”

Horn replied with a bright smile. She carefully casts a healing magic on a man who had broken his leg. The results of her daily training were clear to see—her spells had grown remarkably strong.

The man, feeling his pain fading rapidly, reached out and gently patted her head in gratitude.

“Haha, you’re such a small one, but what a wonderful mage you are.”

“I train hard every single day.”

Horn replied with a proud smile.

Even the staff member accompanying us praised Horn’s magic.

To me, she still had a long way to go—but at this rate, it wouldn’t be long before she surpassed me as a healer.

“This next patient has multiple injuries.”

“I see. Let me take a look.”

“Please, we’d appreciate your help.”

The next patient was an elderly woman suffering from pain in her lower back and knees. Just to be safe, I decided to check if there were any other hidden ailments.

Placing a gentle hand on her shoulder, I let a small flow of magic seep into her body.

…Hmm?

It seems there’s something wrong with her internal organs as well.

“Horn, come here for a moment. Try letting a bit of your magic flow into her.”

“Ah… there’s something cloudy around her stomach too.”

Horn murmured.

“That’s right—good work. Now, focus on that murkiness. Picture it clearing away as you cast your healing magic.”

“Okay, I’ll try.”

I called Horn over and had her examine the elderly woman’s condition for herself. Almost instantly, she sensed the same abnormalities that I just saw. We shared the same mental image without needing many words.

Then, Horn began her healing spell.

Shiiing—

“Oh my, my stomach feels so much better now.”

The old woman said with relief.

“It’s all taken care of now.”

Horn had managed to carry out the treatment exactly as she had imagined. Just to be certain, I placed my hand on the elderly woman’s shoulder once more and checked her condition myself.

“Mm, everything looks fine now. You did very well, Horn.”

“Ehehe.” she giggled, her face lighting up.

“My, isn’t it nice to be praised by your big brother? Thank you, little mage.”

“Mm!” Horn nodded, beaming with pride.

Both the old woman and I praised her, and Horn’s smile grew so bright it was almost dazzling.

When healing magic is used skillfully, it can save a great deal of energy—something I’d have to teach Horn next, now that she was growing more confident.

“Thank you for your help. Thanks to you, the treatment of the severe cases is complete.”

“Then we’ll head over to assist with the lightly injured.”

“In that case, please allow me to guide you.”

The staff member said, leading the way.

After two hours of steady work, the treatment of the seriously injured was finally complete. Since I had been guiding Horn closely the entire time, she had grown much better at performing preliminary checks before beginning a treatment—a crucial step for any skilled healer.

With that done, we made our way to the ward for the lightly injured.

Shiiiing—

“How are you feeling now?”

“I’m completely better. Fina-sama’s slime is truly remarkable!”

“Thank you very much.”

Fina replied with a modest smile. Over on their side, Pearl is shining—quite literally. Under Ao’s gentle supervision, she was learning to channel her magic with precision and care. And of course, Fina-san herself  is being showered with words of praise from those she had healed, her face glowing with quiet pride.

“Looks like everything’s going well here.”

I said as I approached.

“Ah! Shun-oniichan!”

Shiro called out, her face lighting up.

“I work hard too!”

“I can see that.”

“Hehe.”

The two of them giggled together, clearly pleased.

When I spoke to them, both Shiro and Fran turned around from their tasks. They’d been doing a fine job keeping the lines organized, so I reached out and gently patted their heads in praise.

“This side should be finished soon.”

Sue said, coming over to report.

“That’s good to hear. We’ve completed all the treatments for the serious cases as well.”

I replied.

True enough, there were only a few people left waiting in line. I decided to lend a hand as well so we could wrap things up more quickly.

Even so, I couldn’t help but marvel—Fina-san’s popularity truly was something else.

“Fina greeted everyone with such a warm smile. Thanks to that, her popularity has grown even more.”

“Well, she was already well loved to begin with. But now that she’s healing people with her slime by her side, it reflects wonderfully on the Margrave family as well.”

And so, our work at the hospital came to a peaceful close.

The treatments had gone smoothly, and word quickly spread that Fina-san, daughter of the frontier Margrave, had personally assisted in healing the sick and injured. Naturally, her reputation and the affection people felt for her rose higher than ever.

Chapter 303: What is “good”?

A mysterious land floating in the sky.

—I had a vague idea of what it might be.

“Don’t tell me… a floating island?”

A floating island. Just as the name suggests—an island that drifts through the sky. I heard rumors of such things even back in my previous life, but I had never seen one with my own eyes before I died.

After all, they say it never stays in one place, forever moving across the vast sky. Tracking one down, is no simple task.

『That seems to be the case.』

Lindwurm replied with a nod.

(Huh? Don’t tell me, you’ve seen one before?)

『Indeed. Back when I still roamed freely through the skies, I encountered them a few times. As far as I know, only a handful of such islands exist in the world. To cross paths with one like this is truly rare.』

Well, that made sense.

Lindwurm was once a legendary ancient dragon, known as the Radiant Dragon.

“How does something like that even stay afloat?”

“Magic, maybe?”

“I don’t think it’s magic. I can’t feel any trace of magical power from it.”

Some say the very bedrock that forms those islands possesses an innate ability to float—an impossible mineral that defies gravity itself.

“Well, whatever the reason, it looks interesting. Let’s go take a closer look.”

The Seno Grande Kai flew higher, rising to an altitude where we could peer down upon the drifting island.

“It’s huge! At least several times the size of Onigashima!”

The island stretched long and narrow across the sky. Its long axis is probably about 50 kilometers, and its short axis is about 20 kilometers.

We descended slowly, setting down upon its surface.

“C-cold!?”

“Master, the air—it’s thin! It’s hard to breathe!”

“That’s because we’re at an incredibly high altitude. It’s still bearable since it’s a warm season right now, but come winter, this place would be far harsher.”

There was barely any vegetation. A barren landscape of endless rocky terrain stretched out before us. The mountains were bald, and there were surely no animals or monsters in this environment.

Naturally, there was no way people could live—

“Uwaaaaaah!”

Was that someone screaming?

“Let’s take a look.”

We headed in the direction of the voice.

“It’s a man-made object.”

Lying on the ground was a clearly man-made object. It was about the size of a carriage, but its appearance was more streamlined, giving it a vaguely ship-like impression. But whatever it once was, it had clearly suffered a violent impact. The hull lay in ruins, shattered beyond repair.

“What in the world is something like this doing here…?”

Even more shocking, however, was the figure nearby—

a human, clutching her head and screaming in frustration.

“Uwaaaaaaah! I failed again! Why can’t I ever get it right!?”

She a young, tall woman. She has messy hair, no makeup on her face, and is dressed in what looks like shabby work clothes. She’s far from fashionable, but she’s a beautiful woman with fairly well-proportioned features.

And, above all else—she has large boobs!

(Alright, decision made. I’m getting a hug from her.)

『What do you mean, “alright”? This is hardly the time for that. Something’s approaching from above.』

“Eh?”

After Lindwurm pointed it out, I looked up at the sky and saw a dragon gliding toward me at breakneck speed. It was likely one of the beasts that made its lair somewhere within the Great Mountain Range.

“Guruaaaaaah!!”

“W–what!? A d-dragon!? Waaaaaah!!”

Realizing the danger too late, the mysterious woman turned to flee in a panic.

But the dragon was far too fast. In the blink of an eye, it caught up with her, claws outstretched to seize its prey—

Zhang!

The dragon’s head flew into the air, spinning before crashing to the ground. Its massive body followed soon after, slamming into the ground with a loud impact.

“Eh…? I–I’m alive? You… saved me?”

“Mm. You’re safe now.”

It was Fana who had severed the dragon’s neck in a single, fluid motion.

“Y-you did that…?”

“Mm. I cut it.”

“To… to kill a dragon in one strike…”

The woman stood frozen in disbelief, her voice trembling.

I stepped forward and greeted her casually.

“Hello, Oneechan. Can I have a little taste of your milk?”

『Master, that’s the kind of line that gets you arrested on sight.』

The woman finally noticed me—and screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Gyaaaaaaah!? A b-baby’s floating in the air!?”

“Haha, you’re funny! Most people freak out that I’m talking, but you’re more shocked that I’m floating!”

“W–what!? The baby’s talking too!?”

She pinched her own cheek hard.

“D-don’t tell me… my experiment failed and I died? No—! I can still feel pain! So this isn’t a dream…?”

“You’re just making things more complicated. Stay out of the way for a bit.”

Anje sighed, stepping forward. She grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and unceremoniously tossed me backward.

Wuu-, so cruel.

“I’m Anje. You live on this flying island?”

“M-my name is Dana. And of course I live here! It’s not as though one can simply come and go from the island as they please!”

So, her name was Dana.

I sent a message to Anje and the others through telepathy.

『Hmm… maybe it’s best not to mention that we came from outside the island. We have no idea what kind of culture or customs they have here. 』

If we weren’t careful, they might decide to capture us or even kill us.

Not that we’d have any trouble turning the tables if it came to that though.

Anje’s voice came through,

『…In that case, you—who draw the most attention—should just keep pretending to be a baby.』

Easier said than done. When there’s a woman with a chest like that, talking to her just happens instinctively. Some impulses are simply part of human nature.

“W-wait a minute—”

Dana gasped, eyes widening as realization struck.

“—y-you mean… you came from outside the island!?”

Panicking, I quickly tried to cover it up.

『Actually, we all, uh… kinda lost our memories! Total group amnesia. Can’t remember much of anything!』

『Master, I must protest—there’s no way an entire group having amnesia sounds believable.』

“Oh… I see. That must be rough.”

Dana said with a sympathetic nod.

『…She believed that instantly!? This one is…. remarkably gullible….』

Apparently, she was just as easy to fool like Karen.

“Anyway, you mentioned you were running some kind of experiment earlier. Would that have anything to do with that ship-looking thing lying over there?”

“Ah—well, that’s… uh… a secret. Or rather, something I can’t really talk about…”

So it was something she wasn’t supposed to reveal.

“A-anyways, I owe you my life! There’s a town nearby—please, come with me! Let me repay you properly!”

Isekai Nonbiri Sanpo Tabi

Walking, Chapter 210: Congratulations from the townspeople

After lunch, as planned, we set out to collect medicinal herbs. Together, we head toward the Adventurers’ Guild to register. Along the way, Fina greeted the townspeople with a cheerful smile, her face radiant with warmth.

“Good afternoon.”

“Oh my, Fina-sama! Congratulations on the birth of the baby in the mansion.”

“Thank you very much.”

Fina-san answered politely, her smile deepening.

All along the street, people stopped to offer their congratulations on little Arthur’s birth. Fina-san looked truly delighted by every kind word and blessing that came her way. Even after we stepped inside the Adventurers’ Guild, the words of celebration and welcome continued to follow her.

“Oh, if it isn’t Fina-sama! I heard you’ve got yourself a new little brother!”

“So the Margrave family got an heir for the future now, eh?”

“That makes you an aunt, doesn’t it, Fina-sama?”

“That’s not true! Ar-chan is my little brother!”

Fina-san protested, puffing out her cheeks.

“Hahaha, is that so?”

“Honestly, you’re all impossible!”

“Hahaha!”

The adventurers roared in laughter.

The teasing continued for a bit, and Fina-san’s cheeks remained adorably puffed, though it was clear to everyone that neither side meant any harm. Before long, she and the adventurers were laughing together.

The friendly banter filled the guild with warmth and good humor. In the end, it seemed even the adventurers were genuinely happy about baby Arthur’s birth.

Well, that kind of easy camaraderie was only possible because Fina-san got along so well with them.

While they chatted and laughed together, I went ahead and began the formalities for the herb-gathering expedition.

“Oh? You’re accompanied by some beginner adventurers today?

The guild receptionist asked.

“Yes. They happened to be registering right next to me, so I thought—why not invite them along?”

It seemed our escort had struck up a conversation with two young women about the same age as Sue, and they had decided to join us.

“S-s-sorry for suddenly tagging along like this!”

One of them stammered.

“We had no idea you’d be with Fina-sama when we asked!” said the other, her face pale with nervousness.

“It’s all right.”

“There’s no problem at all.”

“I will teach you all sorts of things.”

Fran added cheerfully.

“I will help you too!”

Horn chimed in.

Alongside Fina-san, even Shiro and the others were chatting comfortably with the two women. Though the newcomers looked terribly flustered and nervous, none of us saw any issue with it. Ao and Pearl weren’t showing any signs of alarm either, so it is safe to assume that the women meant no harm.

With that reassuring thought, we continued our journey until the trees of the forest finally came into view.

When we arrived, we found that someone was already there, busy gathering herbs.

“Oh my, if it isn’t Fina-sama.”

“Congratulations on the birth of the baby!”

“Thank you, auntie.”

Fina-san replied with a bright smile.

Even the group of kindly older women who were out gathering herbs called out to Fina-san with warm smiles and congratulations.

All day long, she’d been receiving kind words and cheerful greetings from everyone we met, and her radiant smile never once faded. Before long, we joined the aunties in their work, crouching down among the greenery to begin collecting herbs ourselves.

“This is the one we’re looking for. It’s got a bit of a scent, and if you look closely, there are tiny hairs on the underside of the leaves.”

“Oh, I see! Once we know what to look for, it’s actually easy to tell them apart.”

One of the younger adventurers said, examining the plant carefully.

“And they grow in clusters, don’t they?”

“That’s right. But don’t pull up the roots, okay? Leave those so they can grow back.”

“Yes, we’ll be careful.”

Fina-san and Shiro were teaching the two women how to properly harvest the herbs, patiently explaining each step. Both of them were so eager and kind, their voices gentle as they offered guidance.

“My, Fina-sama has become quite the big sister, hasn’t she?”

“Watching her like this just warms your heart.”

“She looks so adorable, trying so hard.”

The group of kind aunts watched Fina-san with gentle, knowing smiles, their eyes soft as they took in the sight.

Indeed—ever since baby Arthur had been born, Fina-san really had started to carry herself like a big sister.

With our group, the escort, and the watchful “auntie squad” all keeping an eye on Fina-san, the herb gathering went smoothly.

Meanwhile, Ao was teaching Pearl how to collect herbs as well, and honestly, those two turned out to be the day’s most productive harvesters.

As for Fina-san, even though she didn’t gather many herbs herself as she was too focused on guiding the new adventurers—she seemed completely satisfied. Her face glowed with pride, happy simply to have taught them well.

Chapter 109: Freyr, God of Fertility

Carrying the overseer’s limp body, I followed the waterway back the way I’d come. The bubble that held me began to rise, lifting me smoothly from the depths into open air.

Below, I saw Mia-san, Felix-san, and Nils-san, all gazing up with worry and relief. As I landed beside them, the bubble gave a soft pop and vanished.

“Wan!”

Sylph let out a bright sound of triumph, and Undine offered a graceful bow.

In the next moment, both spirits dissolved into light—Sylph returning to the crystal short sword, and Undine to the crystal set in my gauntlet. When the glow faded, only I remained… and the unconscious overseer, lying quietly on the cold stone floor.

“Geh—! Cough, cough…”

The overseer convulsed and spat up water, gasping until his breathing steadied. He must’ve been underwater for quite some time, but it looked like he’d pull through. I let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Just to be safe, I used the blessing of the Medicine God, closing the small wounds that mottled his skin before binding his hands and feet.

Nils-san stood a few paces away, staring at us as if he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.

“…You were fighting underwater? Against monsters?”

He rubbed his chin, studying me with a mixture of curiosity and disbelief.

“You and your companions—no, you, Rion… just who are you?”

I met his gaze and smiled softly.

“I think there’ll be time to explain everything later. For now…”

My gaze shifted to the far end of the chamber.

The wall there glittered faintly—a cluster of pale-blue crystals, all tightly packed together. Those are spirit stones. But in several places, the crystal had fractured away, exposing the raw rock beneath. The openings were large enough for a grown man to slip through, and from the center of one crack, a soft, pulsing light bled outward.

“Rion… you don’t mean to—”

Felix-san spoke, his voice taut with realization. I met his eyes and gave him a silent nod. Then, for just an instant, I looked toward Nils-san.

If I unsealed that wall here and now, he’d see it—my ability.

That wasn’t something I could reveal lightly.

“I’ll handle this.”

Felix-san said quietly, stepping forward and planting his staff on the stone floor.

Nils-san frowned, suspicion flickering in his eyes.

“What are you planning, Priest?”

Felix-san’s tone softened, deliberate and calm.

“Nils-dono. I would ask that you visit the Temple of Odis tomorrow. There are… secrets we wish to share with you—things best spoken of within holy walls.”

Nils-san’s expression tightened. Felix-san must have noticed it too—his eyes drifted distant, as though recalling a memory best left untouched.

“.…I’ll send someone to escort you.”

Felix-san added.

“That would help”

Nils-san replied calmly.

Ah—right. Hes terrible with directions.

Mia-san planted a hand on her hip, half exasperated, half amused.

“So much for a dramatic moment.”

Felix-san coughed into his fist, trying to regain his composure.

“A-hem. So, what do you say?”

“Of course, I’ll comply.”

Nils-san answered, his tone firm. His golden hair swayed as he smiled, breaking through his usual stoicism.

“I’m searching for my sister as well. If our goals align, then I’d be glad to work together.”

I exchanged a glance with my companions before turning back to the wall.

If we’d be seeing Nils-san again after tomorrow, there would be time enough to share information—and to decide what needed to be kept secret. He watched curiously as I placed my hand against the stone.

I spoke softly, “What I’m about to show you is one of those secrets.”

“Wake up!”

Light scattered across the wall. The surface, studded with spirit crystals, began to crack and splinter, radiant fissures spreading like veins of light.

Then, with a resonant crash, the rock shattered—revealing a door hidden within.

An unexplored zone, without a doubt. Not even the slave traders had set foot here. The seal itself had kept them out until moments ago.

“A hidden door…in the wall of the dungeon?”

Nils-san’s voice trembled.

“This is my power. I can awaken the seals on these dungeons.”

“A seal…? Your sword skills were impressive, but who exactly are you?”

Mia-san stepped forward, her red hair shaking.

“We can tell you more about it later. Anyway, let’s focus on what’s in front now.”

I nodded and pushed open the thick door.

The room beyond was dark. Still, I could sense a cool presence, knowing there was ice there.

The gold coin trembled.

『That’s strange.』

“…Solana?”

『I sense a god’s presence.』

I swallowed hard.

At the very end of the chamber stood a massive block of ice.

And within it is a figure. Not a monster. I didn’t know how, but even from a distance, I could feel it. A sacred presence sleeping there, something divine.

“Let’s go!”

I sprinted forward.

Encased in the crystal-clear ice was a man. His features were so striking, so beautiful, that for a moment I mistook him for a woman. Long golden hair fanned around him like ripened wheat, calling to mind the word harvest.

In both hands he gripped a longsword, the blade angled upward in eternal readiness.

『…Freyr.』

Solana’s voice rang in my mind, and I caught my breath.

I was taken aback by Solana’s words.

“…Is he the god we came here to look for?”

『Yes. But it’s strange that he’s on such a shallow level…?』

We could only stand there, staring up at the giant ice.

The trapped god looked as if he’d open his eyes and begin fighting at any moment. It was as if he’d just fallen asleep.

『Perhaps he had ascended to the upper floors to fight… He cherished his sister, the goddess Freyja, above all else.』

Sigris muttered.

I see…

So even this god had a sister. What must he have felt, I wondered, as he fought—and then faced his sealing? My thoughts drifted to that distant cataclysm a thousand years ago, the Great Seal that had swallowed the world in silence.

『What about the horn?』

It was the God of Hunting, Uru, who prompted me. I reached into my pouch and drew out the Horn of Awakening, Gjallarhorn.

But it remained unchanged—no tremor, no gleam of light.

『But for such a powerful god, his senses seem weak.』

Loki muttered thoughtfully.

『Maybe he used up most of his strength during that battle a thousand years ago. Look around—do you see any monsters nearby?』

He was right. Within this chamber, the only thing encased in ice was the god himself. No signs of creatures lurking in the shadows, no tracks, no trace of hostility. Had the monsters been slain long ago—or was this place always meant as a sanctuary, a resting ground for the divine?

Loki continued.

『Judging from the residual aura, he may still be emanating a faint spell that repels monsters. That could explain why the nearby unexplored zones have been safe enough for those slavers to occupy. In that chamber earlier, perhaps the scattered ashes nullified the effect.』

 Solana interjected,

『Hmm? But Loki, if the god’s power is sealed, how can such an effect remain?』

I found myself sharing Solana’s question. If the Great Seal still blankets the world, then no god should be able to wield their power—at least, not freely.

『Think back, remember how the slave traders managed to open that door just now? The dungeon of Flocia isn’t like the one in the capital or in Alvis. It’s already beginning to wake up. Bit by bit, the divine power sealed within is stirring once more.』

I lifted my gaze to the frozen figure again. The vast waterways, the secret chambers known only to the traffickers—all of it pointed to the same truth: this dungeon wouldn’t behave like the others.

My foot pressed harder against the ground, as if to anchor myself.

Move forward—or turn back?

It’s the question every adventurer faces, time and again.

“Let’s go back now.”

I turned back to the others.

Mia-san and Felix-san nodded in agreement.

“I agree.”

“Yes. It seems this dungeon is more complicated than we thought. If we tackle it with a small group, we might lose any progress we’ve made.”

We turned our backs on the ice to return to the surface.

Except for one person.

“…Nils-san?”

Nils-san looked up at Freyr, the god of fertility.

A cold glint dwelt in his brown eyes.

“Is something wrong?”

“Nothing. Just a surprise.”

Nils shrugged and caught up with us. And so, the first day of exploration came to an end, with both success and secrets.

Hazure Skill “Alarm”, jitsuwa fūin kaijo no nōryoku deshita. Ochikobore no shōnen wa, nemuri kara sameta megami-tachi to yasashī saikyō o mezasu

Chapter 108: Help from the Spirits

I dashed toward the wall.

My hand pressed against the crystal that shone the brightest.

Safi, the dwarf blacksmith, once told me something important —that even spirits have personalities. Some are strong, some are timid. Some like humans and others don’t. There are all kinds, and that’s why I have to be careful when choosing which spirit to house in my short sword or a gauntlet.

“Wake up!”

I didn’t know what kind of spirit slept within this crystal. But when I reached out with my skill, the light I felt from it was the strongest of all —as if it was telling me, “I’m here!”

Blue light scattered like petals in the wind.

From within the crystal, a spirit burst forth.

『An Undine huh. It’s a water spirit.』

Loki’s voice came from the gold coin.

Resting lightly in my palm, the spirit shimmered faintly and the word “mermaid” drifted into my mind. Her body was as clear as flowing water. Her upper half took the form of a woman while her lower body is that of a fish, with a crescent-shaped fin swaying gently.

『Rion, it’s about time, isn’t it? Let me grant you a new power, something that is perfectly suited to who you are now.』

Loki’s voice deepened, carrying a strange warmth.

A faint, purple glow began to bloom in my chest.

Skill 『God of Mischief’s Divine Protection』 has been activated.
Achievement unlocked.
A new ability has been bestowed.

A surge of light cascaded through me, and before I could even comprehend it, another wave of power descended — a gift from Loki himself.

Skill 『God of Mischief’s Divine Protection』 has been used.
【Friend of Spirits】…… the one who draws forth the power of spirits.

The words echoed in my mind like an oracle, each syllable resonating with the hum of the Undine’s presence. A soft, ethereal breeze rippled around me —not air, but mana— the gentle breath of countless unseen spirits answering my call.

A voice echoed in my head—familiar, teasing, and just a little exasperated.

Right… now that I thought about it, ever since this new journey began, the wind spirit—Sylph—and the fire spirit—Salamander—had been unusually responsive to me. Even that violet light burning faintly in my chest had flared up during the battle with the river pirates a few days ago.

The god who had granted me his power spoke again, his tone one of weary relief.

『Honestly, you really make me nervous, you know? Your magical aptitude is so low that your skills took forever to awaken.』

“Ha-haha… sorry about that….”

A stiff smile tugged at my mouth.

So the ability that had been on the verge of awakening all this time had finally blossomed—thanks to forming a bond with the water spirit.

“Alright!”

I slapped my cheeks. Resolve surge through me like a spark. This wasn’t the time to hesitate.

I sprinted toward the waterway where the overseer had vanished, and shouted—

“Please, Undine. Take me in the water…!”

Undine smiled softly.

Water came rushing in all at once from the surrounding waterfalls and canals. It engulfed me in an instant.

“Wah!?”

『Rion!?』

Solana and Mia-san cried out, their voices muffled by the rushing water.

But—strangely enough—I could still breathe. The water didn’t crush me or fill my lungs. Instead, it wrapped around me gently, forming a barrier. And inside that barrier… there was air.

“Wan!”

Sylph’s voice rang out from the blue crystal dagger.

So that’s it—the water sealed itself around me, and the air remained within. I was floating inside a massive, glimmering bubble.

Loki’s amused voice came from the gold coin,

『Remember the skill’s description?” It said ‘the spirits’, right? Meaning—』

“You mean… it’s not just one spirit’s power?”

A faint crackle sounded in the coin. Loki seemed to clap his hands. I could almost picture his smug and delighted look, as if saying, “Bingo!”.

『That’s right! I can combine the powers of multiple spirits. It’s like the spirit equivalent of ‘duplicity’.』

I turned my attention to the waterway where the overseer had disappeared.

“I’m going!”

Water or wind — I couldn’t tell which power was carrying me now.

The bubble that held me leapt into the air before plunging straight into the waterway below, scattering a burst of spray that must’ve reached the ceiling. The channel was at least five meters deep. Even a seasoned adventurer would be in trouble if dragged down here.

I tightened my grip around the coin in my pocket, feeling the faint warmth of divinity through the coin. I had to be ready to call upon my god at a moment’s notice.

Skill 『Divine Protection of the God of Hunting 』was used.
【Wild Heart】⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅Detection. With magical power consumption, effects can be further increased.

Through the haze of magic, red lights flickered to life before my eyes. Judging by their distance and number, they had to be the sahagin who’d taken the slave traders.

Still wrapped in my protective bubble, I glided silently through the dark water. The world was muted, dreamlike, yet every movement felt sharp and deliberate.

From somewhere above, Solana’s calm voice echoed in my mind.

『This dungeon seems to have a rather intricate structure.』

“Yeah…”

I whispered back.

The current pulled me forward, deeper into the maze of shifting tunnels and rippling light. Pipes must’ve been running through every layer and crevice of the walls, carrying water from one level to another. I was gliding through one of those narrow channels now.

The faint luminescence from the walls and ceiling was the only thing keeping the darkness at bay. Without it, I’d lose my sense of direction in an instant.

『Part of the mechanism, perhaps. If Safi were here, she’d have a lot to say about this. The flow might even be driving some kind of waterwheel.』

I pressed forward, letting the current guide me until the narrow pipe suddenly widened. Ahead, the tunnel opened into a larger chamber.

“This is it huh…”

I breathed.

Three sahagin were waiting there. Their slick, scaled bodies glinting faintly in the glow. And behind them, drifting limply in the water, was the unconscious overseer.

“Gigigigi”

Its bright red eyes were wide open as it threatened me. Its bloodshot eyes and sharp claws stirred up instinctive fear. Still enveloped in the bubble, I stood against the wall. With my feet on the floor and my back to the wall, I limited the direction of its attacks.

After all, it could move up, down, left, and right through the water.

“Gigigigigi!”

Grinning their teeth, the three Sahagin swam around me at breakneck speed.

Swimming at the same speed as on land, maybe even faster.

『Rion, how do we defeat them?』

At Solana’s words, I drew in my chin and pressed my back against the wall.

Golden flame shimmered faintly around me, refusing to die even beneath the water’s weight. My eyes tracked the sahagin as they darted through the depths like arrows of flesh and scale.

“Now!”

All three lines of movement converged at a single point.

I kicked off the wall.

As if hearing my heart’s command, both Sylph and Undine surged to my aid—the wind pushing, the water pulling. My body shot forward like a spear.

The short sword in my grasp pierced through the first sahagin’s chest, its light slicing through the murk. Momentum carried me onward—through the second, then the third—cutting them apart in a blur of silver and blue.

Within the spirit-forged bubble, I moved as freely as I would on land.

The sahagin pack dissolved into ash, their remains fading into the water. Only a few magic stones drifted down, sinking quietly to the floor of the chamber. Even when I reached out with the blessing’s detection, there were no more hostile presences nearby.

Silence. Stillness.

“It’s over… We can take him back now.”

Gripping the overseer’s limp body, I turned and began retracing my path through the submerged corridor.

It had been a long fight—but at last, our true objective was completed. With this, we’d finally uncover the secrets of this dungeon. The slave traders’ hideout, the mystery of Ymir, and the reason they were after Lu.

Walking, Chapter 209: Our task at the martial arts tournament

After visiting the baby, we were summoned for a brief conversation with the Margrave.

We gathered inside his study, where Fina-san’s older brother is also working beside him. Both of them seemed noticeably brighter than usual—there is this new lightness in the air, the kind that only new life can bring.

We took our seats on the sofa while the Margrave spoke, his tone both proud and amused.

“Fina isn’t the only one who’s changed. My son has truly started acting like a father. He’s been working harder than ever.”

Fina-san’s brother smiled sheepishly but with genuine warmth.

“Having a child really changes you. For the first time, I feel what it means to be a father. It makes me want to give my all—for his sake.”

The conversation began with talk on Fina-san’s older brother.

Ever since seeing his newborn child with his own eyes, he seemed newly motivated. Just like Fina-san, her brother had been deeply affected by Arthur’s birth—both in the best possible way of course.

But after a little more cheerful talk about the baby, the Margrave cleared his throat, signaling a shift in topic.

“Alright. Now, to commemorate Arthur’s birth, I’ve decided to increase the prize money for the upcoming martial arts tournament. We can’t exactly change the entry requirements, but a little more excitement wouldn’t hurt, don’t you think?”

““““Whoa!””””

…So even the main topic was still about Arthur, huh?

Still, it made sense—bigger prizes would definitely make the tournament more appealing.

Fina-san and the others cheered happily, though in truth, the only one among us actually planning to compete was Ao.

With more participants, the surrounding shops and streets would surely come alive as well.

“Furthermore, we’ve decided to allocate additional funds to support the martial arts tournament.”

He took a sip of his tea, looking quite satisfied with himself.

“Of course, the projected increase in revenue should cover the expenses through the corresponding rise in tax income.”

So even though the budget was being expanded, he already had a plan in place to recover the costs. As expected of him—calculated and shrewd as ever.

“We’ve already announced the birth of our grandchild to the town and thanks in part to Fina, the news has been received very warmly.”

“Thanks to me?”

Fina-san tilted her head in surprise.

“That’s right. You’ve always been proactive in building relationships with the townsfolk. Because of that, there are many who hold goodwill toward the frontier family.”

“I see… I’m happy to know I’ve been of help.”

To tell the truth, ever since baby Arthur was born, we hadn’t set foot outside the estate, so we had no idea how the town was faring.

We’d stayed close by in case anything happened to Fina’s sister-in-law or the newborn, ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

But now that three days had passed since the birth and both mother and child were doing well, it was finally deemed safe for us to leave. After lunch, we planned to go gather medicinal herbs. It would also be a good chance to see how people in town were reacting to the news.

“The next matter concerns the martial arts tournament. Shiro and the others will, of course, be participating in the main event—but Shun and Sue, I’d like the two of you to remain on standby as part of the medical support team.”

He leaned back slightly in his chair before adding,

“We’ll treat it as a formal, designated request. Naturally, Shiro and the others are free to assist with treatment as well whenever they have downtime between matches.”

“Understood. I’ll do my very best.”

I said firmly.

“I’ll do my utmost to provide treatment as well.”

Sue added with her usual calm grace.

“I’ll help too!” Shiro also added enthusiastically.

“Me too!” said Fran.

“Me too!” echoed Horn, puffing up proudly.

Everyone is ready to lend a hand. Honestly, I half expected to be assigned to the cooking team again, so being placed on the medical team came as a pleasant surprise.

It had been a while since I worked as a healer—I am now looking forward to it.

“Fina, you have an important role as well.”

“My wife won’t be able to take part in the tournament this year. Well, childcare takes priority after all. So, I need you to stand in for her.”

“Yes! I’ll do my best in sister-in-law’s place!”

Fina-san straightened up, cheeks flushed with determination, her hands balled into little fists of resolve. Her eagerness was infectious, and even the Margrave let out a soft chuckle of pride.

Umareta Chokugo ni Suterareta kedo, Zensei ga Taikensha datta node Yoyuu de Ikitemasu

Chapter 302: Maybe we should finish it off while we’re at it

As we crossed the Atlas Mountain Range aboard the Seno Grande Kai, a colossal peak loomed ahead of us. Compared to the surrounding mountains, it stood nearly twice as tall—an overwhelming mass of rock that pierced the clouds.

“Hn… it’s really high.”

Fana murmured.

“That is the main peak of the Atlas Range.”

I answered as I nod towards it. Even with Seno Grande Kai, we were only barely able to reach this altitude.

“The oxygen is thin… even just breathing feels tough. It’s also freezing up here.”

Anje said, rubbing her arms. No ordinary human could survive long in such an environment—too little oxygen, too much cold.

“At this altitude, only dragons could live here normally. And not just ordinary ones either… eh?”

I squinted toward the summit.

“Wait a second—doesn’t the top of the mountain look… discolored?”

As we drew closer to the main peak, it became clear that the summit was covered in a dark, viscous substance.

Then—

Wooong—wooong—wooong—wooong—wooong—!

A piercing alarm blared throughout the bridge.

On the monitor before us, the internal map of the airship flashed red, a series of X marks had appeared where the entrance and exit were.

“It’s detecting hazardous elements in the outside atmosphere. It’s warning us not to go out.”

Anje spoke, her eyes narrowing.

The source was obvious—the strange black liquid smothering the mountaintop.

“Something just moved. There—something shaped like a lizard.”

Fana said, pointing at the display.

“Let’s check it out.”

I aimed the scanning radar toward the spot Fana had pointed out.

—And immediately, a powerful reaction flared across the display.

Judging from the outline, it could only be a dragon. Roughly thirty meters long, its massive body moved with unsettling grace as it waded through that strange, tar-like liquid without a hint of discomfort.

『That substance is likely poisonous.』

(You can tell, Linlin?)

『Without a doubt. That’s definitely the abominable evil dragon…the poisonous dragon Fafnir. I can’t believe it’s making a place like this its lair.』

Lindwurm’s tone dripped with distaste, as though even speaking the creature’s name left a foul taste in her mouth.

Among dragons, those with low intelligence and deeply malicious natures are known as Evil Dragons.

…Well, Bahamut could technically be called evil too, but at least she’s smart enough to hold a conversation. That alone puts her in a different league.

“Since we’ve stumbled across it anyway, we might as well take care of it while we’re here.”

Leaving an Evil Dragon alone was never a good idea. Just like the demons, they only brought disaster if ignored. Sure, in a place this remote there was little risk to people—but there was no telling when it might decide to descend upon the lands below.

“You—you actually plan to fight that thing!?”

Karen’s voice trembled.

“Look strong.” Fana said, eyes sparkling.

“Wait, isn’t it hard enough just to breathe outside?!”

“Not to mention, the area is saturated with that poison. Entering its domain means certain death.”

“It’s fine. We don’t even need to go outside for this one.”

It was the perfect chance to test the Seno Grande Kai’s combat capabilities. Honestly, I’ve been thinking that the small fry dragons we’d run into so far were far too weak for a proper trial run.

“—Tch! SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!”

“It noticed us!”

As we drew closer, Fafnir turned its massive head toward us.

A heartbeat later, a high-output mana cannon roared to life.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!

The blast struck Fafnir head-on.

—Or so it seemed. At the very last moment, the beast twisted its body and narrowly avoided the hit. Though its body was massive, Fafnir’s stance was low to the ground, its movements more akin to a lizard slithering across the earth—swift and unnervingly agile for a creature of its size.

“Poison breath incoming!”

As if in retaliation, the dragon spewed a torrent of venomous liquid toward us.

But the Seno Grande Kai deployed its barrier in an instant, easily deflecting the attack. Without pause, the airship retaliated with another blast from its mana cannon.

Once again, the evil dragon evaded with blinding speed. Yet before it could regain its footing, the next barrage was already upon it.

“How long do you think you can keep dodging?”

Fafnir scrambled desperately along the cliff face, twisting and turning to escape the relentless bombardment. But at last, one of the mana blasts struck into its back with a resounding impact.

“Gruaaaaaah!?”

The Seno Grande Kai immediately followed up with a rapid volley of mana blasts, showing not the slightest hint of mercy as it drove the evil dragon into a corner.

“…This feels a bit one-sided, doesn’t it?”

“Mm. It’s just getting pummeled.”

“Can’t that thing fly or something?”

Hmm. What a disappointment.

『Fafnir’s wings have long since degenerated, rendering it incapable of flight. As such, when attacked from the air like this, its only means of retaliation is that poisonous breath. But with even that neutralized by your barrier, it truly has no options left.』

“So once its breath was blocked by the barrier, that was pretty much game over for it, huh.”

Before long, the mana cannons fell silent.

The Seno Grande Kai must have determined that the enemy had been completely annihilated.

Fafnir’s colossal, mangled body tumbled helplessly down the sheer cliffside, disappearing into the ravine below.

『Once the evil dragon is dead, its venom will eventually dissipate as well.』

“Good enough. No one’s coming to this place anyway—let’s just leave it be.”

Leaving the poison-soaked peak behind, we pressed onward.

“Ah! Master, the end of the Great Mountain Range is in sight! At last, we’re about to set foot in the western lands…!”

The airship soared past the final ridge of the mountain range.

No longer needing to maintain such an altitude, I began to lower our height.

—that was when it happened.

Wooong—wooong—wooong—wooong—!

Once again, the piercing sound of the alarm echoed through the control room.

I frowned and checked the monitor, wondering what it could be this time—only to see a massive object rapidly approaching from ahead.

“W–what the heck is that!?”

“…An island?”

“Y-you’re right. It is an island! But why in the world is it floating in the sky!?”

Beyond the window stretched an impossible sight— a vast expanse of land, suspended high above the clouds.

“Don’t tell me… that’s a floating island?”

Isekai Nonbiri Sanpo Tabi

Walking, Chapter 208: She’s become a little more mature I guess?

Three days had passed since the birth of the new heir to the Margrave’s household. Every afternoon, once Fina-san and the others finished their studies, they would race down the halls straight to the baby’s room. The sheer power of wanting to see the baby worked wonders—everyone finished their lessons very quickly.

If only they always studied this diligently, things would be so much easier for me.

Knock, knock.

“Dear sister-in-law, may we come in?”

“Yes, of course. Please come in.”

Since the baby was often asleep, Fina-san made sure to knock softly and open the door with great care. The entire mansion now revolved around that tiny, precious life—every sound, every step, every heartbeat seemed to move in gentle harmony with the newborn.

“Ar-chan, your big sister’s here.”

Fina-san whispered softly.

“…zz zz…”

“He’s asleep.”

Shiro murmured.

“He looks so peaceful.”

“Babies are just too cute”.

The Margrave family’s first grandchild had been given a noble name, Arthur.

Fina-san affectionately nick-named him “Ar-chan” but the baby simply slept on, breathing softly in his cradle.

Shiro and the others gathered around, looking down at the tiny one nestled among silken blankets.

“He just had a full feeding and a fresh diaper so he drifted right off to sleep.”

“I see. Well, sleeping is a baby’s most important job. By the way, how are you feeling, sister-in-law?”

“I’m doing quite well now. My body feels much better.”

She answered, her voice calm and content. Fina-san’s sister-in-law seemed to be recovering well after childbirth. There was no need for us to use healing magic—her complexion is healthy and she smiles gently.

Perhaps because of this new arrival, Fina-san herself had started to show a newfound sense of maturity. Since Arthur’s birth, she’d begun spending more time with Fran and Horn, guiding them with the gentle patience of an older sister.

Though, technically speaking, Arthur was her nephew, not her younger brother. Fina-san had already slipped naturally into the role of a doting big sister.

“Ar-chan, grow up quickly, okay? One day, you’ll play with your big sister.”

Her sister-in-law chuckled softly.

“My, Fina, you’ve already become Arthur’s big sister, haven’t you?”

Fina-san beamed proudly and nodded.

“Mm-hm! I’ll be the best big sister ever!”

Fina-san stepped quietly to the side of the crib, her hand reaching out to gently stroke little Arthur’s soft head as she spoke to him in a tender whisper. Her sister-in-law watched the scene from her bed, smiling warmly at the sight.

“It’s amazing how much a girl can change in just a few days.”

“Mm. She started to grow more mature as my due date approached. But after seeing the baby in person, that feeling must have deepened even more.”

Fina-san’s sister-in-law added, her voice filled with affection.

“Fufu, he’s just so adorable.”

From the bedside, we watched the group gathered around the crib—Fina-san, Shiro, and the others—all gazing at the newborn with shining eyes. Even Shiro and the others seemed to carry themselves with a new sense of pride and gentleness, as if meeting the baby had awakened the “big sister” in all of them.

Umareta Chokugo ni Suterareta kedo, Zensei ga Taikensha datta node Yoyuu de Ikitemasu

Chapter 301: I’m starting to feel sorry for her

After we’d had our fill of the eastern lands, we decided it was time to head back west.

“I definitely want to come here again. I would love to be breastfed by the shogun again. Luckily, I should be able to use teleportation magic soon—next time, the trip will be a breeze.”

Teleportation magic required an immense amount of mana and it puts a heavy strain on the body. That was why I refrained from using it up until now.

Of course, I already prepared the magic circle. By marking a specific location as a destination, I could greatly reduce the burden of teleportation.

『By the way, where exactly did you inscribe the circle?』

“Eh? Oh, in the shogun’s bath, of course. Don’t worry, it’s perfectly hidden.”

『…I see. Of course you did.』

While Lindwurm let out an exasperated sigh, the rest of us headed toward the Seno Grande.

“Hmm… is it just me, or did it get bigger?”

“Yeah, it definitely looks larger than before.”

Fana and Anje tilted their heads, studying the ship’s newly altered form.

“You noticed! Excellent eyes, both of you! That’s right—I did a major renovation!”

I spread my arms proudly. I had given Seno Grande a major makeover, enhancing both its structure and performance. And, naturally, I had taken the opportunity to “upgrade” its most distinctive feature—the massive twin bulges on either side of the hull.

“It’s like I boosted it from an H-cup to a J-cup! Honestly, I wanted to go for an L-cup, but I figured focusing more on flight performance than sheer size was the smarter call… so I held back.”

“…What on earth are you even talking about?”

Honestly, with only a handful of us aboard, there wasn’t any practical reason to make the ship larger. Even as it was, the interior space was more than enough.

“But thanks to the makeover, the flight performance is magnificent! With this, even the massive mountain range dividing East and West should be a breeze to cross!”

For the record, I had considered renaming the vessel from Seno Grande (“Big Boobs”) to Seno Tropo Grande (“Massive Boobs”), but it felt a bit too long—and truth be told, the ship’s current size didn’t quite qualify as massive. So, in the end, I kept the old name.

『I believe a J-cup already counts as massive, though…』

Huh? No way. True massive starts at least from an L-cup upward.

That said, to commemorate its rebirth, I decided it would henceforth be known as the Seno Grande Kai—the kai(快) of  pleasure.

『I’ve been meaning to ask… but didn’t you mean to call it kai—as in “改,” meaning “Improved”?』

(Nope. It’s the kai, meaning ‘Pleasure’)

『……』

To achieve this “Pleasurable Refit,” of course, a powerful new energy source had been essential. Luckily, the female-type demon we’d captured earlier made the perfect solution. Even now, she is probably down in the engine room, dutifully channeling her magic in place of me.

『You really have no mercy, do you? Even though she’s female—complete with the kind of chest you’re so fond of.』

(Demon breasts don’t count. They’re hard—no softness, no warmth, nothing! Honestly, the disappointment alone makes them a sin against mankind.)

『Every time I think you can’t disgust me more, you somehow manage to outdo yourself, Master.』

And with that, the Seno Grande Kai soared into the sky, rising higher and higher as the city of Edo shrank to a scatter of rooftops far below.

“My homeland… Edo….This is farewell for now. I’ll grow stronger, and one day I’ll return, I swear on it.”

Her voice carried a quiet conviction. For Karen, who had joined our party in the East, this was her first time truly leaving home behind.

The airship continued its smooth ascent, rising until we were soaring high above the clouds. Below us, the sprawling city had dwindled to a scattering of tiny shapes. Up here, even the largest birds and most persistent flying beasts couldn’t hope to reach us.

“Alright, let’s kick it up a notch.”

The Seno Grande Kai tilted forward, its engines humming with renewed vigor as we surged toward the distant mountain range. Thanks to the makeover, our flight speed had nearly doubled.

“The mountain range’s getting close way too fast… just how fast are we going?”

“At this pace, we could get from Volante to Vegaltia in about five minutes.”

“F-five minutes!? That’s so fast! I can’t even comprehend it….”

“You are a genius, Master”

“This speed… Even at my full sprint, I would not come close.”

Lill, also said in surprise. After all, she is a Fenrir, a divine wolf capable of outrunning storms when she was in her true form.

Soon, the mountain range that divided East and West loomed before us, filling the view ahead. We were flying at an altitude that would make most airships stall out, and yet, the jagged peaks of the Atlas Great Range were still alarmingly close—some rising almost to our level.

“The Atlas Mountain Range is a chain of mountains thousands of meters high.”

Incidentally, Atlas was also the name of a giant-type monster. No one really knew whether the Atlas Mountains were named after that creature, or if the monster had been named after the mountains. Either way, the connection was clear—and fitting.

And within this colossal range lives countless dragons.

“At this altitude, we could just fly past them. But since we’re here, why not take a closer look?”

Lowering the ship’s altitude, I guided us toward the jagged peaks.

As we drew nearer, the scene came into focus—hundreds of dragons swarming around the summit like flies, their wings glinting in the sunlight.

For the record, I’d turned off the stealth mode. It wouldn’t be much of a sightseeing trip if the locals couldn’t even see us, after all.

“W–wait! Why are we flying straight into them!?”

“Are we fighting?”

“It’s fine. We’re just going to take it easy and watch for a bit. I just want to test how the new flight systems perform under live conditions.”

At that exact moment, one of the dragons noticed us.

It let out a bone-rattling roar and came hurtling toward the airship. Its jaws wide enough to swallow a wagon whole.

At the same time, a low hum built within the hull—then the magic cannon fired.

Doooon!!

A beam of condensed mana tore through the sky.

“~~~~!?”

The dragon didn’t even have time to scream. Its massive body was pierced clean through, wings folding uselessly as it plummeted into the mountain below like a falling meteor.

“Okay, let’s keep going!”

“They’re going down like goblins….. I never imagined I’d see dragons slaughtered so easily…”

“Yup, and we’ve still got plenty of mana to spare. As expected of a demon—she makes one hell of a power source.”
