Datsusara Souryo no Danjon Sousou Haishin

Chapter 19

“Hey! Nobody told me about that! You can’t do that! That’s cheating!”

Raika’s furious shouting echoed throughout the Gourmet House, but Ryunosuke, the Ancient Dragon, paid her no mind as he continued devouring one lavish dish after another.

And he showed no signs of slowing down too. While the rest of us could only stare in stunned disbelief, we soon realized that he had already eaten more than two-thirds of the seemingly endless spread of food—all by himself. Plates and all.

“A-amazing… That dragon…”

“I didn’t know Ancient Dragons could eat that much…”

“Hey, Ryunosuke! At least leave some for me!”

At this point, calling it “eating” was a bit of a stretch. He was practically inhaling the food. He kept making noises that sounded suspiciously like human words—things like, “Umeeeee!”—just as he always did, but there was absolutely no sign that he was actually savoring the taste.

“I don’t really know what’s going on, but good job, Ryunosuke! Go on! Eat it all!”

“Wait! Daishi-san! You’re his owner, aren’t you?! Hurry up and stop him! My—my precious dishes, the ones I poured my heart and soul into making, are dying one after another…”

“I kinda wanted to eat some too…”

Raika gradually went limp, looking utterly devastated, as though she were about to collapse right there onto her knees. She really must have put her heart and soul into cooking all of this.

And honestly, I couldn’t blame her. Even if someone told you your food was delicious, it wouldn’t exactly make you happy when they were thoughtlessly crunching down the plates along with it.

Though from our perspective, Ryunosuke was a huge help since we needed to clear this place. So, yeah… I could understand how Raika felt.

Eh? Space-Time Rabbit-san, you’re still here?

You haven’t said a single word, so I completely forgot you were even around. My bad.

> The Selection Zone isn’t all that impressive after all.
> They would have been screwed without Ryunosuke, though LMAO.
> I can’t watch a stream that’s just some guy eating free food.
> Oh, looks like he’s almost finished eating it all.
> Poor Raika.
> That’s a nightmare for any chef lol.
> Seriously, how much can that dragon eat?
> He was so well-behaved up until now, too.
> Was he holding himself back this whole time?
> Huh? Looks like he suddenly stopped eating.
> He looks like he’s in a bit of pain…
> Um… wasn’t he not allowed to throw up?
> Wait, so he was pushing himself a little too hard after all…?

Just as the comments I had happened to glance at pointed out, I had also noticed that something about Ryunosuke seemed to be gradually going wrong.

Up until a little while ago, Ryunosuke’s body had been growing larger as he ate, but that growth had stopped some time ago. His eating pace had slowed considerably too. And it even looked like his skin was starting to turn green…

“Huh? Looks like Ryunosuke stopped eating.”

“He must have finally filled his stomach. Though, with that much left, I could easily finish it all by myself.”

“But those symptoms the dragon is showing… They might be a bit of a problem…”

Mina’s face had gone slightly pale. She was probably imagining the hell that might be waiting for us in the near future. And, judging by the comments, the viewers were thinking the same thing I was.

“Hey, Mina-chan… Is that, by any chance…”

“Yes, Daishi-san. The situation—or rather, Ryunosuke-kun’s stomach—is in a pretty critical state, I think…”

“This place might turn into hell pretty soon. I think I’ll take my leave for a bit. Hyup!”

Oh, come on! That bastard Space-Time Rabbit just used a space-time jump to escape all by himself!

Wait, he can use skills?!

That’s cheating!

“Gupopopopopo…”

“GYAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! This is bad! This is really, really bad!”

Ryunosuke tilted his head toward the ceiling, his mouth hanging half open as he made those awful gurgling noises! If that stuff came shooting back out, this place was going to turn into an absolute nightmare!

You’re a dragon, for crying out loud! Don’t spit anything out except fire or something dragon-like!

“Ryunosuke!”

“Gop?”

“If you’re a man, you never throw up something you’ve already eaten. If you do… I’ll put it right back.”

“Gop!?”

“You sure? I’ll put it back in again you know. You sure about that?!”

“Ggggogogo… Gulp. (Burp)”

“Good. Well done, Ryunosuke. Good boy.”

…Thanks to Shion’s encouragement—or perhaps more accurately, her threats—Ryunosuke managed to show us what it meant to be a real man. He fought back against the rising contents of his stomach and successfully avoided turning the place into hell.

Just imagining all that food coming back up at once was enough to make me want to cry.

Nice one, Shion!

“Oh, looks like Ryunosuke is finally full! In that case, maybe I’ll have some of the food that’s left!”

Apparently, Satsuki was the only one who hadn’t been able to imagine the tragedy Ryunosuke had nearly unleashed moments ago. She was already jogging past him, making a beeline for the remaining dishes.

“I’m hungry too. I’ll have the rest.”

After giving Ryunosuke a brief word of praise for his efforts, Shion joined Satsuki, picked up a plate, and started looking over the remaining food.

“How can you two even think about eating after all that…?”

“Mina-chan, aren’t you going to eat?”

“N-no. What about you, Daishi-san?”

“I’m… not really feeling hungry either.”

Once you’d imagined that hellish scene, there was no way you could work up an appetite. Honestly, I had to admire Satsuki and Shion’s mentality.

“Well, I suppose it can’t be helped. No matter how you look at it, he did follow the rules. I admit defeat. A complete and utter defeat.”

Raika-san, who had been crushed beneath the weight of her loss, finally got back on her feet, seemingly having regained her composure. Or maybe she had just decided to stop caring. Either way, the expression on her face was surprisingly serene.

“Um… sorry about that, Raika-san.”

There was no real reason for me to apologize, but I felt kind of bad about the whole thing, so I figured I might as well.

“No, it’s fine. I knew from the start that I was asking you to do something pretty unreasonable, so I guess I just got what was coming to me. But there’s still plenty of food left, so if you don’t mind, I’d really like you to stay and have at least a little. I guarantee it tastes good!”

The smile had returned to Raika-san’s face. With a smile like that, there was no way I could tell her that we were too traumatized to eat her cooking.

Ryunosuke had done his best, too. So the least we could do was finish off what remained ourselves…

“KYAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!”

Ah?! That’s Satsuki’s scream.

What happened?!

I hurried over to where the girls had gone to inspect the food farther in the back.

And there it was.

Again.

I had encountered it once more.

Gogogogogogoooo…

A presence so overwhelming that it seemed to suck the very life from everything around it. A hideous appearance so grotesque it looked as though it were denying the very existence of all things.

And, worst of all…

A sense of déjà vu.

“D-Daishi-san…”

“Yeah. No doubt about it. That’s…”

Not an Apostle…

Probably that old man’s internal organs again.
