Walking, Chapter 437: An unexpected participant

Led by Arisa-sama, we made our way inside the mansion.

“Wow! The house is huge, too!”

Marquis Broker’s mansion had been cluttered with so many unnecessary ornaments that the rooms felt cramped. In contrast, the Southern Margrave’s residence had only the essential furnishings, yet everything felt incredibly elegant and refined.

Come to think of it, the Victory Baron family’s mansion didn’t have many furnishings either.

“Sue, it seems the nobles who are obsessed with showing off are the ones who buy all sorts of unnecessary things.”

“That’s exactly right. My uncle only ever purchased what was truly necessary, too.”

The royal palace hadn’t been particularly flashy either. I guess excessive luxury was limited to certain nobles. Even the reception room contained only high-quality furnishings, with little in the way of ostentatious decoration.

“Hehe, I’ll have them serve the fine tea that Sue identified for us before.”

“Now that I think of it, our very first quest after Sue joined the party involved that tea-fraud case.”

“Yes, and the supplier was connected to the House of Broker, too. Hehehe… Now, how should I make them pay for that?”

“Ahaha…”

Since Sue had only just joined our party when the tea incident occurred, I remembered it quite well.

And after hearing Arisa-sama’s explanation, I could easily believe that the supplier had been deliberately falsifying the tea’s origins. There was no doubt that this would affect our upcoming operation against the House of Broker.

“Actually, I’ll be visiting the House of Broker over that matter as well. That’s why I’d like to coordinate with you and your party, Shun.”

“Wait, are you planning to pick a fight with Count Broker, too, Arisa-sama?”

“Hehehe. If someone does something to you, you have to give them a taste of their own medicine, don’t you? I’ll contact Sue about the details. We’ll need to notify the military as well.”

Yeah, it seemed the House of Broker had picked a fight with someone they absolutely should not have provoked. At this point, I wanted nothing more to do with whatever happened to them.

“Now then, let’s put these troublesome matters aside for a while. After all, Marquis Broker, who went to such lengths to obstruct our dear Sue, has finally been arrested.”

Arisa-sama clearly had quite a grudge against Marquis Broker herself. She wore an especially radiant smile as she spoke.

“Hmm, we went flower-viewing and sold lots of food at the stalls!”

“We set up stalls in all sorts of places.”

“Horn can make round cakes, too!”

“Hmm… You’ve been telling me all about your food stalls rather than your adventurer activities, haven’t you?”

Well, I had to agree with Arisa-sama’s muttered observation.

Hey, Shiro and the others! We’re adventurers, remember?

Sue was smiling wryly, too, but surely we could talk about something a little more adventurer-like instead of going on and on about food stalls.

“Um, we fought demons and an Orc King! And we defeated them all!”

“Fran was too little to enter the martial arts tournament…”

“But Ao won the martial arts tournament!”

And so, the tea party continued, with most of the conversation revolving around Shiro and the others. As they recounted everything that had happened during our journey, they even acted out some of the events to make their stories more entertaining.
