Before we knew it, an entire hour had passed. Well, Shiro and the others certainly loved to talk.
“Hehe, that was a wonderful way to spend our time. Now then, shall we all head to the Adventurers’ Guild?”
“Okay!”
At one point, Arisa-sama had nearly slipped into her dark mode out of anger toward the House of Broker, but fortunately, we managed to keep things from getting out of hand.
After that, we all boarded a carriage belonging to the Southern Margrave family and set off for the Adventurers’ Guild in the royal capital.
“There are so many people walking around!”
“There seem to be lots of delicious things, too!”
“They’re selling clothes as well!”
Shiro and the others leaned toward the carriage windows, gazing with curiosity at the bustling marketplace crowded with people coming and going. There were certainly a lot of people, but the sheer variety of goods on sale was impressive, too.
We’d be able to obtain the supplies needed for our visit to the House of Broker through the Victory Baron family, so that wasn’t a problem. Still, I had a feeling there might be some things that could only be found in the marketplace.
Before long, our carriage arrived at the Adventurers’ Guild.
“All right, we’re here. This is the Adventurers’ Guild of the royal capital.”
“Whoa! It’s huge!”
Well, I could certainly understand why Shiro and the others were so excited by the sight of the Adventurers’ Guild.
There was a dedicated area for carriages to drop off passengers, as well as a place for them to wait. And towering before us was an enormous, five-story brick building. While a steady stream of people disappeared through the main entrance, we entered through the doorway in the carriage drop-off area to avoid any trouble.
Apparently, some adventurers despised nobles and would pick fights with people like us who were dressed in proper, respectable clothing.
“Some adventurers believe that strength is all that matters. They get irritated when they see someone wearing luxurious clothes. It’s a common attitude among adventurers whose abilities don’t live up to their own expectations.”
As we climbed the stairs, the constant din of voices from the bustling first floor followed us.
I supposed it made sense. There were all sorts of people among adventurers. With that thought in mind, we continued steadily up the stairs.
“Um, Arisa-sama? Where are we going?”
“To the office of the Adventurers’ Guild Master in the royal capital. The Grandmaster might be there, too.”
Arisa-sama answered my question as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
I could understand why we needed to come here to register Ao as an adventurer, but why did the rest of us have to meet with one of the higher-ups at the Adventurers’ Guild?
“There are two reasons. The first concerns Sue. When she traveled through the various Marquises’ territories along the borders, the Adventurers’ Guild Master in the royal capital contacted other Guild Masters of a certain standing to inform them of her visits.”
“This is the first I’ve heard of that…” Sue murmured.
“The idea was for the various Adventurers’ Guilds to avoid getting involved too openly. Though some of them did take a more active role when it came to matters involving the dark organization.”
Oh, wow. So there’d actually been a whole Sue Watch Squad looking out for her behind the scenes!
In that case, we’d have to make sure to thank everyone involved properly.
“The second reason is your rank promotion. Officially, Shun and the others captured Marquis Broker at the royal family’s request. In addition to your achievements up to this point, there’s a procedure you need to go through to establish that you’ve earned the royal family’s trust. That procedure can only be handled by an Adventurers’ Guild Master of a certain standing.”
I see. If we were going to accept requests directly from the royal family, that would narrow down the pool of adventurers eligible to take them.
Then again, Sue had become a member of the royal family herself, so perhaps things wouldn’t be all that different from usual. With that thought in mind, we reached the fifth floor.
