Clip-clop, clip-clop, clip-clop.
Our carriage arrived safely at the carriage parking area of the Royal Capital Adventurers’ Guild.
“Horsie, please wait here for us!”
““We’ll be right back!””
““Snort…””
Shiro and the others were talking to the horses, but these horses really were clever. If they could just memorize the route, I wouldn’t be surprised if they could travel it on their own without a coachman.
We entered the Adventurers’ Guild through the back entrance once again and headed for the guild master’s office.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Riana-san.”
“Not at all! I haven’t been waiting long. Well then, shall we go?”
I called out to Riana-san, who had been waiting for us in the guild master’s office.
Hmm? Where did Goki-san go?
“Riana-san, where did Goki-san go?”
“I believe the Grand Master summoned him or something like that, so he left the room a little while ago. He said we could leave the room as it was without locking the door.”
From a security standpoint, I wondered whether leaving the office unlocked was really a good idea. Then again, since it was in an area where ordinary adventurers weren’t allowed, I supposed there wasn’t much to worry about.
“Oh? Are you heading somewhere?”
“Yes. We’re going herb gathering with Riana-san and her companions.”
“I see. That’s wonderful! Be sure to gather plenty.”
“””Okaaay!”””
Just as we stepped out of the Guild Master’s office, we ran into Quasar-san. Fortunately, Quasar-san was heading straight into the Guild Master’s office, so our timing worked out perfectly.
We descended the stairs and returned to the carriage parking area through the back entrance once again.
““Sorry to keep you waiting!”””
““Neighhh!””
When Shiro and the others called out to the waiting horses, the horses responded as if answering them.
“Wow, what incredibly clever horses!”
“Yes. They understand what we say, and they’re very strong, too.”
Riana-san praised the horses, and she wasn’t wrong. Even a wolf would be no match for their strength.
While I was thinking about that, Shiro and the others had already climbed into the carriage and were taking out a kotatsu from the horses’ Magic Bag. In fact, since we had more people with us today, they brought out two of them.
“Okay, here’s the kotatsu! It’s really nice and warm!”
“We’ve got delicious fruit, too!”
“And drinks as well!”
Shiro and the others had wasted no time making themselves comfortable under the kotatsu, and they were now inviting Riana-san and her companions to join them.
The three girls cautiously climbed in, unsure of what to expect.
“Wow, it’s so warm! I was prepared to endure the cold during our journey.”
“I never imagined we could keep ourselves warm inside a carriage.”
“And the design is simple enough that we could even make one at our own estate.”
Sitting on cushions with their legs tucked beneath the kotatsu, Riana-san and the others soon began to relax.
After all, winter was approaching, so there would certainly be days when the weather turned chilly.
With that settled, Ao, Sue, and I took turns handling the reins as we headed toward the forest on the outskirts of the royal capital.
