Chapter 86: Additional facility

Nothing in particular happened from the time we left Camilo’s shop to the time we got home. Well, except that Liddy-san attracted the attention of the people in the town. She’s a beautiful woman to begin with. I’m not sure if it’s because she’s an elf though. And yeah, the worst thing that could have happened is if Liddy-san gets into trouble so I was relieved that it didn’t happen.

When we got home, all of us carried the luggage inside. The Apoitakara was also placed inside the workshop. Liddy-san also helped in carrying some light things like root vegetables inside the house.

After bringing the things inside, we’ll have a free time as per usual. Well, even if I say that today is a time off, going to the city kind of feel like we are still doing some work. I’m currently working on a custom made order but I already notified Liddy-san about this beforehand. Thus, I decided to spend the day like usual.

I thought about dealing with the Apoitakara, but since it is a blacksmithing job, I decided to put it off and make something I wanted to do in the workshop. I went to the workshop and collected the leftover wood from making the scabbard. Some are reasonably sized, which seems to be enough for what I wanted to make.

Leaving it to the sharpness of the knife, I cut out the parts from the wood. This sharpness was also related to magical power. From now on, I’ll have to be more conscious of this when I make custom orders. It took a long time to cut them out because I cut it in a way that they could be assembled only by fitting them together, without using any nails. Well, I still managed to secure some time for assembly. I then started assembling it right after.

Eventually, though it was weird in a way, I completed something like a miniature house. It is palm-sized. I’m not that familiar with the format, so I just made it in a way that it would look like a house. However, I don’t think there’s something in this world that would settle on it (at least there’s nothing that corresponds to that in my installed knowledge). Anyway, this should be good for the time being.

I then make a shelf out of a piece of wood, attach it to the wall, and place the miniature house (something like it) on top of it. A “simple Kamidana” was then completed. As a former Japanese, I felt uncomfortable because there was no Kamidana in this place. That’s the reason why I made one. It may be better to have it placed inside the house, but personally, I feel that it’s more appropriate to put it in a workshop like this. (TLYN: Kamidana(神棚) – household altar)

I don’t know if there’s a god in this world or none, but I hope they will magnanimously look after this. I’m not sure if there is a God in this world that would settle inside it though.

From the kitchen, I fill a small plate and a small cup with salt and water respectively. I then put them on the shelf together. I’ll have to add changing its contents to my morning routine. After I made a simple bow to the altar, I clapped my hands and got ready to prepare our dinner.

The next morning, after I fetched water, I first took the water and salt in the Kamidana and replaced them with a new one. It’s a waste to throw them away, so I used it for making the soup for breakfast.

The rest of the activities did not change that much until we finished our breakfast.

After breakfast, I discussed the tasks for today. Naturally, I will continue to work on the Mithril sword. However, from today, I’ll have Rike, Samia, and Diana make the general models for a while. We will be delivering the items two weeks later but we need a good number of items for delivery.

Liddy-san decided to study my work by observation, or should I say she’ll be watching me. Anyway, it’s decided that she’ll do something like that.

When I entered the workshop, I first went in front of the Kamidana. I bowed to it two times, clapped twice and then I bowed one more time. I prayed for the safety of today’s work. I don’t know if there is someone who will receive this prayer but I feel that it can smoothly soothe my heart and mind if I have something like this. With this alone, it’s worth making this Kamidana.

As I am worshiping (something like that), Rike talks to me,

“Boss, what are you doing now?”

“I’m praying to God, it’s a ritual that is passed down to my family in the North.”

“To that weird house-like structure?”

“That’s… right. Well, it’s like a simple altar that’s being set up inside the house.”

“Heh-, there is a custom like that in the North huh.”

“I guess my family is the only one doing that. I don’t know how effective it is either.”

As Rike’s curiosity has been piqued, I readily answered her questions.

“Does Eizou-san have a family name?”

Liddy-san, who was listening to our conversation, also asked a question. Speaking of which, I didn’t tell her that huh.

“Yes, I do have one. However, as you can see, I have a special circumstance so I am living in this place.”

“I see… So that was why you don’t usually use your family name.”

“Yeah, it is as what you have said.”

Liddy-san murmured and nods her head indicating her agreement. I think she has this personality that she can’t help but to make sure to confirm what’s on her mind.

“Boss, can we also do what you did earlier?”

“Hn? Ah, yeah. I don’t mind. It’s not like it’s a secret.”

Rike asked hesitantly but I gladly agreed. Well, it’s better to do this with the whole family.

“Can I join as well?” Liddy-san also asked, I agreed of course.

I taught the four of them the two bows, two claps, and a third bow, like I did earlier. A beastman, a dwarf, a human, and an elf. The fact that people of different races and origins is doing the same thing like this, just like when we said “Itadakimasu”, really strikes home.

In this way, one more “usual” was added to our family.

Chapter 57: High Dragoneut

“I’m Bezel, the fourth in line to the Estent Empire’s throne.”

The man with an extraordinary presence around him said that. In other words, the man in front of me is from the Estent Empire’s Royal family.

I immediately used my analysis skill.

【Analysis Result: Bezel Dragnil: The third son of the Estent Empire’s Dragnil Imperial Family. He boasts top-class strength amongst his nearly 100 brothers. He is known as an influential person in the empire and he has a lot of support from the people: Rarity B】

Advanced: Body Strengthening, Super Sensation
Intermediate: Dragon Beheading Slash, Sword King Technique, Fist King Technique, Fang Strengthening, Leadership
Evolution: Does not meet the conditions
Evolution Condition: Fist King technique (Special Grade), Limit breakthrough (Beginner), Dragon breath (Beginner)】

Without a doubt, he is the strongest enemy I met so far. There are also many skills that I have never seen before. Moreover, his race is even a High Dragoneut. If I got careless, there’s a possibility that he may defeat me.

“What’s wrong, human? Did you get scared when you saw me?”

“I’m not scared. I was impressed that you trained well though.”

“You’re pretty discerning for a human. It’s a pity to kill you.”

“Well, I also feel that it’s indeed a pity.”

This man named Bezel apparently loves muscles too. It’s a shame to think that we might have become friends if he is not an enemy.

“Big brother! Kill that man quickly!”

“Karl, Shut up! You are the cause of this operation failure. Do you think you can order me to wipe your ass?”

“B-But … ku-uh!”

Karl glares at me. Even though they are brothers, their hierarchical relationship seems to be firm. Bezel then pulls out the sword on his waist as he slowly approaches me.

I was fascinated seeing the pulled out sword blade.

“White sword?”

Bezel’s sword has a white blade and it is shiny. It looks like it’s made of ceramic. It is about 2m long and about 40cm wide. It’s a size suitable for calling it a greatsword.

I immediately check it out using my analysis skill.

【Analysis Results: Flying Dragon Bone Sword: Flying Dragon’s bone is known to be lighter and harder than Mithril. It’s rarity value is high because it is difficult to obtain: Rarity A】

The Bull King sword seems to be more valuable. However, determining which one has the better performance as a weapon is still unknown.

“This is a flying dragon bone sword. It’s made from a precious dragon bone. It loses to magic steel in terms of hardness, but instead, it’s hard to break and pretty durable.”

“A dragon’s bone huh. It’s quite interesting.”

“Let’s see which is stronger, your black sword or my sword.”

Bezel grins. Apparently, he also saw that my sword is unusual.

“Here I go, human.”

“Bring it on!”

Both of us stepped forward, locking our swords against each other. A sharp sound echoed out and sparks scattered with the clash.

“To stop my sword like this, neither you nor your sword is normal!”

“It’s a given! I’m Shinichi Tanaka!”

“Kuhahaha! Interesting! It’s really a shame to kill you!”

Using his skill, Bezel exhales a small dragon breath from such a close range. The intense flame radiation burns my skin. However, it’s not that unbearable.

“You can endure my dragon breath huh. Then, how about this!!?”

Bezel’s power rises rapidly. It’s probably the body strengthening skill. My sword begins to be pushed back.

“I too have that body strengthening skill!”

This time, with the skill limit breakthrough, I was the one who started pushing Bezel’s sword. Surprised, he jumps back and stops our close fight competition.

“You’re stronger than me? Hmmm, in that case, you’re not a human.”

Bezel has a sharp intuition. No matter how strong my skills are, humans and high dragoneuts have different basic abilities. Thus it is unbelievable for a human to win by comparing strength.

“Now now, I’m roughly a human though.”

“Such a clever lie. Well, I welcome an enemy who’s on par with me.”

Our swords clashed against each other again. It seems that he activated his super sensation skill this time as his reaction speed is increasing. Of course, I also used my super sensation skill. As our swords struck against each other, sparks scattered too. The sun is already setting and it is now getting dark. Every time we crossed swords, it becomes a bit brighter, and for a moment, Bezel’s face stands out from such dark background.

I already lost count of the blows we have exchanged.

“My younger brother came back defeated. The way it is now, we really have to rethink the invasion strategy for this kingdom.”

“You should. If you want to run away, now is time.”

“That joke is not funny. We, the Dragnil Royal family, do not concede defeat. It’s better to commit suicide than to expose our lives to shame.”

As he swings down his greatsword, I see through its trajectory so I avoided it at the last minute. I swiftly jumped back and I then slashed my sword into his shoulder.

“Aggh!?”

I took some distance away from Bezel. Bright red blood was dripping from his shoulder. It was finally a decisive blow.

“I’ll commend you for being able to hit me. However, it will be impossible for you from here on.”

Then his skin changed. After the small green scales covered his entire body, the bleeding wound on his shoulder quickly closed. The atmosphere around him also became more powerful and I felt something like a pressure from him.

“This is the Dragon Transformation that can only be used by High Dragoneuts.”

He moved at a rapid speed, he then slashes his greatsword sideways. I barely avoided it with my danger detection skill. I rolled on the ground and fired a thread bomb as I get up.

“What the heck is this!?”

A large amount of sticky thread wrapped around Bezel. However, he quickly burned himself using the small dragon breath.

“This cheap trick won’t work on me!”

The burnt threads fall to the ground. The man wrapped in flames seemed to have an increase on his flame resistance due to becoming a dragon.

“I see. So it seems.”

“I had a lot of fun fighting you. You should be proud to die in my hands for hurting me.”

The sword that Bezel swung down cuts off my sword and even the rock behind me. It’s probably the dragon beheading slash skill. As for the effect of the skill, an invisible blade extends from the blade itself and it’s such a powerful slash.

My body split into two as it was cut and it then fell to the ground.

“You should have given up seeing the difference in our ability.”

“Hn? I haven’t given up yet you know?”

“Uh!?”

Bezel’s eyes opened wide hearing my voice. The man who should have been killed is currently talking to him as if nothing happened. Moreover, I’m standing up steadily.

“What’s wrong? Are you that surprised because I’m not dead yet?”

“But… I should have cut…”

I’m unharmed. Well, he did certainly saw me being cut, but such laceration is nowhere to be seen. I almost laughed at Bezel’s shocked expression.

“Flame chain!!”

With clinking sounds, a hot crimson chain wraps around his body. Shortly after, Bezel was restrained just like that.

“You’re looking in a different direction.”

As he turned around, me and Erna grinned at him. That’s right, the one he slashed was a phantom Shinichi Tanaka.

First, I have to explain why Erna is here. Erna was doing some support attack with her bow, but when most of the enemies escaped, she used camouflage, a light magic to move closer to me.

Then, at the right moment, she switched an illusion in my place. By the way, camouflage is a magic that can create phantoms and it can also be used to switch places. She didn’t have much chance to use it, but this time, I can say that it was very useful.

“For such magic-! Damn!”

“As an ancestor elf, my magic can’t be broken so easily.”

As Erna had said, Bezel cannot free himself from the chain. It won’t budge even he’s in dragon form.

“Special grade magic, Flare zone!”

Magical power was released around Erna as she raised the staff, and it converged to the staff at once. After Bezel was covered with the hemispherical red space, extreme heat was generated. The ground in the space was melted into a thick muddy red liquid and Bezel’s skin began to burn even with his flame resistance. I don’t feel the heat when I look at it but I know that the red space is already a blast furnace.

“Coward! To trap me here, you–!!”

Bezel yelled.

I never said that I would fight alone in the first place. Besides, there is no reason for me to fight alone. The other party was the one who got the wrong idea.

“Don’t feel bad. I don’t want you to die.”

When I said that, the chain that binds him cracks.

Oi, Don’t tell me… is he trying to break it on his own?

“Unforgivable… For me to… this underhanded trick…”

“Not good! Erna back off!”

After Erna retreated, I readied my sword. The flare zone is already disappearing, and the chains that bind him are about to break. Dragon Transformation is already this terrifying. How a about a real dragon then? Just thinking about what type of monster it would be makes me shiver.

When the chains broke, the red space in the flare zone disappeared. Intense hot air gushed out and it burned the flowering plants in the surrounding. He slowly advances through the ground that was turned into lava, and when he reaches the edge, he takes one foot out like he just got out of the bath.

His whole body was carbonized, and pink flesh was visible from the peeled part. For him to still be able to walk is already a miracle. As expected, no matter how strong he was, special-grade magic caused a lot of damage to him.

“I won’t forgive the woman earlier. After killing you, I’ll brutally kill her!”

“Hmm, can you really beat me in that state?”

“Shut up! Flame bomb!”

Bezel fired a flame bomb and it explodes in the place where I am at. Black smoke rose and a small crater was formed.

“You were not cautious because you thought I couldn’t use magic! Kuhahaha!”

He grabs his sword and approaches the crater. I think he intends to kill me as I’m weakened.

Splat–

I thrust my sword out and stabbed it in his heart.

“……Ah?”

Bezel didn’t seem to understand the why there is a sword sticking out of the smoke. Well, if you think about it normally, I should have been badly wounded and I should have collapsed. Or, perhaps I’m now running away.

Well, unfortunately, I am not normal. When the smoke clears up, my appearance was revealed before him. Bezel trembled all over seeing that.

“T-This is absurd…  you-, without even a scratch…?”

“Magic doesn’t works on me.”

I then touched the magic circle on the sword and a violent electric discharge burns Bezel.

“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!”

Even if he is resistant to fire, he will not be able to resist electric shock. Even so, he has a tremendous vitality. He did not die even with a sword pierced into his heart.

Then, Bezel fell to the ground with white smoke rising around him. I checked his heartbeat just in case but it appeared that he stopped breathing completely.

“Now then, for the remaining one, Karl—“

When I searched for Karl, he wasn’t there anymore. He probably ran away by using his brother as a decoy.

“You did it! We’ve driven the empire back!”

Erna hugs me.

“Father is so awesome!”

Pero jumped in right after.

“Pero-sama! Me too!”

It seems that Freya doesn’t mind it. Pero is hugging me, so I feel like she is hugging me as well.

Wooooo! The soldiers and adventurers who were near the outer wall cheered. The battle against Bezel was quite tough but I was relieved and glad that I was able to protect Mana.

It is such a dreadful sight with many corpses lying around the grassland that became the battlefield. Although the damage here is zero, I still need to reflect on my foolishness for thinking that I could win with my edge.

“The empire seems to be stronger than I think…”

I need to become stronger. Otherwise, I won’t be able to protect what I hold dear in my hands.

“Father! My body!”

When I turned to look, Pero’s body is emitting light. It was similar to the light we see during evolution.

“Calm down. It’s just time for you to grow.”

“Will I also evolve?”

“I’m not sure, but no matter what you looks like, you’ll still be my son.”

“Un!” And then Pero’s body was wrapped in a bright light

Chapter 85: Business talk

There was such big happening along the way but we passed through the forest without any other problem. And then we went out to the main road where a danger different from when were in the forest awaits. Since we stand out too much, we need to be more vigilant than when we are inside the forest.

Samia is on full alert with all her five senses active. Diana too, she looks at the surroundings differently compared to a while ago. Liddy-san is also on alert as she looks a little farther away. As expected, if there are more lookouts, you will feel more secure.

Although there was a trouble before, we didn’t have any major problem on the main road, probably because the Eimurl family governed the area well. Diana would feel uneasy if something happened here and I hope that nothing really happens no matter how small it is.

The person guarding at the entrance of the town today was not the one I’m acquainted with. The product he has is still a short spear, not the halberd. I recognize this person’s face a little though. Let’s ask him then.

“Hi”

“Oh, it’s you guys. Hello”

The guard is amiable but he looks at Liddy-san while he replies to my greeting.

“I’m sorry to bother you but, did the person who was close to Marius-san move somewhere else? He also bought my sword and I was wondering what has happened to it you see.”

“Hn? Ah-, he was called by Marius so he went to the Capital.”

“I see…. That’s why I didn’t see him around huh. Thank you. I’ll ask about him in case I go to the Capital again.”

“Yeah, please do that.”

With that said, we slightly bowed to him and then we pass by. According to the current guard, that person was called by the Count. I guess it can be considered as a promotion. However, do the town guards here still refer to him as “Marius”? It’s a little difficult to decide whether this should be taken as loose discipline or as sign of their close relationship for the time he was one of the guards.

We pass through the lively street crowded with a lot of people. As expected, Liddy-san, as an elf, draws attention. Whether because it’s unusual to see an elf, there are some who sometimes do not try to hide their unscrupulous gaze. However, strangely enough, no one tries to mess with us. Well, doing devious things can get you in trouble ―whether it is true or not, coupled with its occurrence, it is widely believed at least among the public. Including her habit of thinking that the other person knows what she knows, she is comparatively a normal person (though she’s an elf). However, wouldn’t she feel uneasy having this much attention? That’s all I was worried about.

Eventually, we arrived at Camilo’s shop. We’ll be staying inside from here so Liddy-san will feel a little more relaxed. As usual, we put the cart in the warehouse and head to the business meeting room. Camilo arrived a little longer than usual today.

“Oh, it looks like you’re busy.”

“Well, somewhat I guess.”

Come to think of it, whenever we come here, Camilo personally comes to meet us. Is it because he concentrates more on managing people and the likes so he has some time? Well, even if that’s the case, there must be times when he is busy with meetings and other things. When I asked about that,

“The timing of your arrival is almost fixed, so I made a room on my schedule around that time.”

“What if I didn’t come?”

“Well, I got other things to do so it won’t be a problem.”

“I see”

It wouldn’t be good if I was being a burden so I was relieved because it didn’t seem like that.

“Then, about today’s transaction…”

“Ah, let’s discuss this one first.”

After Camilo gazed at Clerk-san, Clerk-san placed the cloth wrap he had in his hand on the table. It is of a decent size. After Clerk-san unwraps it, an ore with blue stripes was revealed before us.

“This is..?”

“Yeah, it’s Apoitakara.”

So this is Apoitakara huh. It has a good luster on it. Right now I’ll be focusing on Mithril so it will be a while before I actually deal with it.

“I’m sorry for the trouble”

Clerk-san wrapped it again then I receive it after.

“I’ve been properly paid for it so you don’t have to worry about it.”

Camilo said that with a laugh.

“Are the things that you need as per usual?”

“Yeah. We have fewer items for delivery this time though. Do tell me if you need more. I’ll pay it in money.”

Judging from the transactions so far, even with this volume of delivery, it should be enough to cover the cost of the items. However, some products may increase in price. I’ve brought some money with me just in case.

“It would be fine if you have as much as half of last week’s delivery volume. If you don’t have enough, I’ll just deduct it to the next delivery so you don’t need to pay me money.”

“Sorry for the trouble, that helps. Ah-, by the way, I’m working on a custom order right now so I’m not going to come here next week.”

“Oh, I see. I understand. Just have more items for delivery by then.”

“Yeah, thank you. As you have said a while ago, if it’s not enough, please deduct it from the next delivery.”

“Haha, I’ll do that even if you did not tell me.”

In this way, this business talk was also successfully completed. I listened as Camilo told me the situation in the Capital and in some other places. Marius seems to be doing well. Diana appeared to be relieved upon hearing that. However, it seems that the movement of monsters in the remote areas become active recently and it is said that a subjugation army may be formed.

It seems that the lie about the monsters acting up that Karel said during the conflict in the Eimurl family has become a reality. This is serious… In that case, it is necessary to deliver the items on time in order to make Camilo profit. We should prepare to increase our production as much as possible.

After exchanging some idle talk, we then left Camilo’s store.

Kajiya de Hajimeru Isekai Slow Life

Chapter 84: Cuteness is justice

The next morning.

At breakfast, I added some mint tea to my usual menu. I put mint (a plant something like that) in boiling water. It tastes a bit grassy but it’s refreshing to the palate. It might be a good substitute for tea. Well, I’ll think about it a little more.

“We’re going to the town today to wholesale our items. What about you, Liddy-san? You can come with us if you want.”

There’s probably nothing to do if we leave her alone here. One man and four women, moreover, three of them is a beastman, a dwarf and an elf. It’s a bit eye-catching, but I don’t think it’ll be a big deal as long as the Count is doing his best. What I’m worried about is the mithril sword. I’m not sure if it’s safe to leave it behind. If Liddy-san wants to stay here to protect it, that will also be fine. There is nothing in particular here that would be a problem if it’s stolen. I can earn gold coins again. If I am to say it, the only thing I’d like to avoid being stolen are the pots and pans. Well, that’s because we will have trouble eating if they were taken away.

“I’ll go with you. The sword should be safe here.”

“Okay, then please get ready.”

“Yes, I understand.”

Liddy-san nodded and disappeared into the guest room. Surprisingly, she readily accepted to accompany us. I think there’s still more to this place that I don’t know but Liddy-san knows….. Hmm, I guess we’ll find out more about that in due course. I went into my room and began to prepare to leave.

It’s my and Rike’s job to pull the cart. I can’t just ask Liddy-san to do it either. She appeared to have good eyesight so I decided to ask her to keep an eye on the surrounding area along with Samia and Diana.

However, it might not be a good idea to continue pulling the cart by hand. I think we’ll be carrying more luggages soon, and more importantly, since we stand out, it’s better to have a little more mobility. So, although there is the problem on food, we should consider getting horses at some point. But, that’s a story for later.

At the center of the greenish light, there’s a dark vertical line―we proceed through the towering tree trunks. The leaves make some rustling noise and a pleasant breeze flows through the trees. I wonder if Liddy-san hears the voices of the trees like this. As one would expect from an elf race, they have too many visions.

As usual, Diana is restlessly looking around. Well, I do understand her feelings. Then, Samia suddenly stopped in her track.

“Is it a dangerous one?”

I also stopped walking and asked Samia.

“No… Hmm…”

Samia’s ears are twitching and her nose made a sniffing movement. She’s trying to focus her mind and discern what’s out there.

“Ah―, it’s that huh.”

Samia’s ears stop twitching and her nose also stopped sniffing. Then Samia rummages around her purse. She quickly took something out and threw it near a bush some distance away. When I looked closely, it was a dried meat.

Immediately after, with rustling sounds, the bush shakes and a small shadow jumps out. It’s a beast that looks like a brown puppy, ―a wolf cub in short.

“―――!”

Diana cries out “Kyaa”, but she quickly covered her mouth for it not to be startled. She’s quite nimble. But now I understand, this one is indeed adorable. It’s almost like a puppy. It is wagging its tail while it’s eating the dried meat. Certainly, this is pretty cute. I too can’t help but feel “aww”. Slap! Slap!, before I knew it, Diana was now next to me and she’s hitting my shoulder. Of course, it hurts in general.

I know how you feel, but please calm down.

Eventually, the puppy, no, the wolf cub that has just finished eating, wags its tail and headed toward us.

“Wau!”

It made a sound. Then, another Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!, came, and shock runs over my shoulder.Oi, Calm down.

The little wolf was coming over here, but at the point when it is approaching near us, a big wolf appeared. Given the situation, I suppose that it is the mother. Then, the little wolf rushes toward the mother wolf and begins to play with her. It’s a very gentle sight. Like it’s calming it, the mother wolf nudges the wolf cub with her nose, and then the mother and cub went behind the bushes.

“I see… As Samia had said before, that one is definitely cute.”

“R~ight?!!!!”

Diana shouts so loudly that she’s almost roaring. I feel that my ears hurt.

“It’s definitely cute enough that I understand why you want to look for it.”

“R~ight?! Told you!”

“But it would be a pity if we separate it from its mother you know.”

“Oh… that’s…yeah”

Diana’s shoulders slumped a little.

“Sometimes―, there are those who have been abandoned by its parents or the ones who strayed from the group. If that is the case, it should be fine.”

Uh, Samia let it out.

Diana, who did not miss that, becomes lively again with a great momentum.

“That’s right! Yosh, if there is a cub that is like that, I have to help it right away!”

Her nasal breathing becomes heavy and she starts clenching her fists as she hardens her resolve.

Me, Rike and Liddy-san look at each other and sighed involuntarily.

Chapter 56: Revenge of the Empire

“I’m hungry…”

Liz murmured while sitting on the edge of the bed. Duffy on the other hand, has no time for that. Seeing her sudden recovery, he was hastily doing some medical examination.

“Sure enough, you’re healthy now. Just what is going on?”

As a doctor, he is happy that the patient become well. However, he also seemed to be perplexed by the miracle that is beyond his understanding.

“I’m fine. There’s nothing to worry about.”

“No, but …”

Duffy faced towards me. No matter how he thinks about it, the cause of it is probably me. Duffy understands that too.

“Tanaka-dono, what did you do to her?”

“I’m not sure either. But previously, I cured one of my companions in a similar manner so I thought I’d give it a try.”

“What is that method!?”

Duffy rushes towards me with his eyes bloodshot. I tried to evade, but he clung to my waist so quickly that I couldn’t even imagine that he is an elderly person.

“Come on, tell me! How did you treat her? I won’t let go until you tell me!”

“I-I understand, let go of me first! I’ll properly explain it then!”

I explained to Duffy about my Pressure Point skill which could press on acupoint that now evolved into a life or death technique. He enthusiastically asks me questions while taking note of them.

“How do you get that Pressure Point skill? Tell me about it even if it’s just your speculation.”

“I used to be good at massage, I think it’s because of that. It’s purely a conjecture though.”

“Massage huh! That was the loophole!”

Duffy really get into it. It’s like he’s discovering a new cure. Liz, who was watching the situation, finally began to get angry.

“I’m hungry! Hurry up and let me eat now!”

She was angry while looking at me. Perhaps Duffy is considered to be her servant.

“You finally got better so let me serve you some delicious food.”

“Alright, make it quickly.”

“Okay”

I borrowed the kitchen in the mansion, well, I also borrowed their pot and then I started making chicken soup. I took out the remainder of yesterday’s rice from the bangle, put it in the soup and made it simmer a little. Finally, I added the beaten egg and the porridge is completed.

When I returned to the room, I handed the porridge to Liz.

“What is this white grain? Isn’t this a soup?”

“It’s thin rice porridge, a stomach-friendly dish. You’ve just recovered, so you should not overdo it.”

“…..”

Liz scoops the porridge with a spoon and slowly puts it in her mouth. The salt content is modest, so the taste may be light.

“Mmm…Delicious!”

After saying that much, Liz silently started eating the thin rice porridge. It’s a rice gruel that is similar to thin rice porridge, but it’s actually a dish that my mother cooked when I was ill. That is why I can serve it with confidence.

“Seconds please.”

Liz presents the wooden bowl with rice grains on her mouth. I poured porridge while saying that she could only eat up to two cups.

“This is delicious. It might be the perfect food for those who are sick.”

Duffy is also eating the thin rice porridge. I thought I made it a little too much, but if he eats too, there won’t be a leftover.

“I’m going to sleep.”

After eating, Liz lays down on the bed. With this, I am now relieved. When I tried to leave the room, Liz called out to me.

“Thank you for helping me big brother.”

I smiled a little and replied, “Uhmm”. However, I felt itchy when I’m called as big brother. It’s a term that I was never been called before.

“What’s big brother’s name?”

“I’m Shinichi Tanaka. I’m an adventurer in Mana.”

“Adventurer huh…”

When Liz stops speaking, I then leave the room. Duffy, who came out with me, bowed deeply to me.

“Tanaka-dono! Thank you! I couldn’t save her alone! It’s all thanks to you!”

“No, isn’t she getting better because of the results of Duffy’s treatment? I only helped her a little bit with my skills. You should be the one to be complimented.”

I shake hands with Duffy. It was good that we look for him and the girl after all.

“Well then, please excuse me”

I then left the mansion.

The sun in the sky is now starting to set. We ride in the unicorn and hurry back to Mana City.

“The magical beasts become active at night. Let’s go home early.”

“That’s right. I want to avoid sleeping outdoors.”

Erna and Freya went ahead while having such light conversation. However, I was still curious about that Ninjutsu skill.

“Hey Erna. Do you know a skill called Ninjutsu?”

“Ninjutsu? Ah-, speaking of that, there was such a rare skill.”

“Rare skill? What is a rare skill?”

“Shinichi’s Life or Death technique and Super Sensation are examples of that. For such things, you are not really certain how to obtain it, and in many cases you can only get it when you were born. It seems that sometimes skills evolve and then you can get it but I heard that such a thing is rare.”

I was convinced by Erna’s words. There are conditions for skill evolution. That is, for the necessary skills to reach the special level. It does not change with evolution or integrated evolution. It is a change that cannot occur unless you acquired the necessary skills and improve your skills to a special level.

“But Ninjutsu should be a fairly rare skill. It seems to be a combination of Stealth and Search skill.”

“Well, that would be useful. It’s a skill that I definitely want to have.”

Ninjutsu. It’s a man’s romance. One can spit out flames and cross over the water with that. Well, it doesn’t matter if it’s possible or not. However, ninjutsu is just so cool. I can affirm that as someone who once read Na○to.

“Do you still want to get stronger? Aren’t you strong enough already?”

“I also think it’s enough for now but I just want to get that Ninjutsu skill. This upsurge in my chest is not a lie.”

Erna looked at me with an exasperated expression. But I don’t care. A woman can never understand a man’s romance. After a few hours, we finally arrived at Mana. By that time, the sky was dyed in dark red color and the sun was about to set on the horizon.

For some reason, the City gate is being closed. It was like the time when the Estent Empire attacked. I call out to the soldier guarding on the outer wall.

“Hey! Why are you closing the gate?”

“Homeless!? Wait, we’ll open the gate right away!”

The gate starts to open up and then we enter inside while riding the unicorn. As expected, the City was quiet and the atmosphere was full of tension. The soldiers rushed to us and then they explained the situation.

“The guys from the Estent Empire have brought 500 soldiers this time. In addition, he says that if we don’t send that man out, they will kill all the citizens of the City. Can you somehow save the City?”

“The man he’s talking about is probably me. I think he really got angry about the last time. Anyways, I’ll solve this matter this time as well.”

We move to the west side of the City while riding the unicorn. When we arrived, I got off the unicorn and ran up to the outer wall.

“Are the soldiers and adventurers responding this time?”

In the grasslands at the west of the City, there were Estent soldiers as before. However, this time, they are vigilantly lined up. When the dragoneuts, which can be said to be giants, are lined up, it’s not unusual for them to feel intimidated. I can immediately saw through the mental state of the soldiers and adventurers standing off against them.

“Get that guy out soon! That silver-haired guy who killed our soldiers!”

“He is not in this City! Immediately leave Mana! This is the territory of the kingdom!”

“I don’t care about the territory! It’s going to belong to our empire soon! More than that, if you don’t send that man, we will kill all the inhabitants of this City!”

A man with purple hair and clad in knight’s armor persistently told the knights in Mana to send out a silver-haired man. As expected, their target is me. Besides, the man, who seems to be a knight of the empire, was familiar.

“We are going out! Get ready for battle!”

“Understood! I’ll blow everything away with my magic!”

Upon exiting the west gate, we squeezed through the crowd of knights and adventurers in Mana and stepped forward. Then the commander of the Knights rushed to me.

“You come at the right time! They’ve been telling us to send Tanaka-dono out! We feel anxious when he said that they will turn the City into a sea of fire!”

“Don’t worry. We, Homeless, are enough for that kind of opponent.”

“How reassuring! Tanaka-dono is the hero of Mana after all!”

After the knight gave instructions to the other knights and adventurers, he retreated near the outer wall. I’m glad to be relied on, but this time, this is because of my carelessness.

The man named Karl Dragnil, who escaped last time, brought this enemy here. Karl, the commander of the enemy, speaks to me.

“I’ve been waiting for you, Shinichi Tanaka! Let me get rid of the last humiliation right here!”

“Karl right? Are you sure you’re going to win with just the 500 of you?”

“Of course! I even think that this force is too much! I’ll make you kneel before me and beg for your life!”

Ridiculous. I won’t lose to these 500 dragoneut. Even though he was once saved, he is crazy enough to come all the way here just to give up his life.

“Erna, shoot your Flame Burst”

“Eh? He’s still talking over there, is that okay?”

“It doesn’t matter. We are adventurers after all. We don’t have a good heart like a knight.”

“That’s right. Then I’ll do it in one shot.”

Erna raised her cane and created three giant fireballs. Apparently, she intends to release three flame bursts at the same time. As expected from a founder elf.

The fireball, which was fired silently, caused a large explosion in the middle of the Estent soldiers and caused black smoke to rise. It’s twice as powerful as before… No, it will be three times as powerful. It’s such a ridiculous power.

The soldiers of the Estent Empire were lying around the three craters.

“Cowardice… What’s with that attack while I’m still talking…”

Karl stands up while staggering. He didn’t seem to be injured but he was covered in dust. Starting with him, the soldiers of the empire who were still alive stand up in succession. It seems that fire-type magic does not work well on Dragoneuts as they are resistant to fire.

Even so, a quarter of their total has fallen and there are many injured ones, like those who lost their arms. This could be deemed as a decent result.

“It was true that fire magic didn’t work on Dragoneuts huh. I can’t believe they are still alive after that explosion.”

Erna was looking at the enemy with admiration. From my point of view, Erna, who casts such magic is more amazing. It’s horrifying because it is an advanced magic.

“Me, Pero and Freya will fight directly with the enemy. Erna, support us with bow and magic attacks.”

“OK. They are injured but still, be vigilant.”

“I know”

We leave Erna and start running. We divided into three directions, and then each of us began fighting against the Empire’s soldiers.

“I’m also a member of Homeless!”

As he moves in a flash, Pero’s feet toys with the Empire’s soldiers. Taking advantage of his short stature, he sneaks into the enemy’s bosom and then he sinks his fist into the opponent’s abdomen. When the opponent falters, he quickly scratches the opponent’s throat with his claw. His appearance was like a white storm.

“What’s wrong Dragoneuts?! You guys are losing to a Human!”

While basking in blood, Freya stabs and kills the soldiers of the empire like an Asura.

She caught the fist of the soldier who was about to hit her with one hand and then she skewered him with a spear flying in the air. She is manipulating the spear with her psychokinesis. Just like a satellite, her spear flies around Freya.

“Go!”

Erna shoots a number of arrows with the big tree bow. The arrow drew a parabola and then it changed its trajectory as if it had a will and stuck in the enemy’s temple. The Empire’s soldiers tried to prevent the arrow with an iron shield, but the wind arrow pierces the shield and kills the enemy.

“If you want to run away, run now! I will not chase those who ran away!”

I brandished the Bull King sword as I say that. The extremely sharp blade cuts off the weapons of the enemies. Without using any skills, I was rushing through the Empire soldiers.

“Take this!”

One of the soldiers uses the skill Small Dragon Breath. When the flamethrower hits my skin, it slightly burned my skin. As expected, the robe doesn’t seem to be able to prevent non-magical attacks. However, the robe that received that flame does not even have a burn mark.

“M-Monster! Staying calm even after receiving my skill――Gueee…pu!?”

I decapitated the enemy who used the skill. It’s rude to call me monster. I’m a decent person you know!

“Don’t run away! Kill that man quickly! If you kill him, this Kingdom will fall soon!”

Before I knew it, the soldiers had begun to flee. Dragoneuts, who are mistaken for giants, showed their backs and run away. Its unsightly and laughable. Still, I want to praise them for taking importance of their life.

Karl, the commander, desperately screams to keep the soldiers. His appearance is also quite funny. It is foolish to invade the kingdom in the first place. It is their incompetence to misunderstand my ability.

“What happened? Didn’t you come to humiliate me?”

I approached Karl while shaking off the blood in my sword. More than half of the 500 enemy soldiers are already dead. The rest of the soldiers are also fleeing or injured and are not prepared to fight. However, I was curious about the man behind Karl. All this time, he did not move and his arms remained folded. He is also wearing a more luxurious armor than Karl.

Who would he be if Karl was the commander?

“Brother! Please help me! I will lose if this goes on!”

“…………Humph!”

The man moved.

Its body is one size larger than a typical dragoneut, and the horns that grow from its head are imposing. He has a well chiselled feature and his short purple hair is neatly done. In addition to that, the dark green and gold decorated armor signifies the level of his status.

Obviously, he is a strong man. My intuition tells me so.

“I’m Bezel, the fourth in line to the Estent Empire’s throne.”

Kajiya de Hajimeru Isekai Slow Life

Chapter 83: Struggle

The next day, today’s observer were only Rike and Liddy-san. Samia and Diana went to gather some fruits and other things, saying they’ll do it because “there’s an elf living with us”. Even in this world, there’s also an image like that huh. Since Liddy-san was eating meat normally last night, that image can’t get out of my head somehow.

The yet to be assembled sword, or should I say, I plunged the lump of Mithril into the fire bed and heat it. When the time is right, I take it out and start hammering it. Somehow, I think that the response I felt in my hands is steadily getting harder. It feels like the parts has been brought together, but the glittering particles ―the magical power itself, appears to be increasing little by little…

“Liddy-san”

“Yes? What is it?”

“Is there an increase in magical power on this?”

“Yes, there’s an increase to it. As expected of Eizou-san, you are very skillful in incorporating magical power.”

Hoh-, so this is the case after all. I could see some particles like this even when I’m only using steel.

“Somehow I feel like it is getting harder.”

“R~ight? Asking you to do it is the correct choice after all.”

Liddy-san nods, looking like she’s the only one satisfied. There is no particular explanation either. I wonder if Liddy-san is the type of person who thinks that the other person knows what she knows. In my previous world, there was also a person like that in the company that I worked in.

In any case, not denying that it is getting harder, is it possible that Mithril in this world becomes harder when it is incorporated with magical power? But when I made the rapier before, this didn’t happen…

For the time being, I throw that matter out of my mind and just think that it becomes hard when it contains magical power. I concentrate on using the power of the cheat and hit it carefully so that the forging process does not go wrong.

I wasn’t aware of it until now, but it seems that I’m pouring magical power at this point. Every time I swing the hammer down, the response when I hit the target is getting slightly heavier. This is quite a tough work because it’s necessary to increase my force when I’m hammering it.

I repeat this work several times. The response became heavier each time, but eventually, it became less heavy. Perhaps it reached the limit on “magical power incorporation”. I’m thankful for that. If it is heavier than this, it will be too difficult to process.

In the end, it took me until after noon to finish the forging process. There’s going to be a lot of work after this…

The three of us had a little late lunch and then I continued in the afternoon. It is necessary to get serious from here. I heat it on the fire bed once more and then I hammer it to stretch it. There is no difference in the process and contents from the case of steel. However, the difficulty level is significantly different. Just like the case when joining the fragments together, the temperature at which it can be processed while maintaining its magical power and the parts where it is okay to hammer it down are extremely severe. In addition, it is necessary to reheat it before it can be stretched that much.

“This is much harder than when I made the rapier.”

I can’t help but complain.

“Is it difficult even for Boss?”

“Yeah. It’s like being asked to sprint on a thin rope over a high place.”

I replied my honest feelings to Rike’s question. I’m already at this state just with the Mithril, I’m wondering what will happen when I got hold of the Apoitakara. When I looked back, Liddy-san was looking at me with concern. Uh… I’m not sure if I could still be called a craftsman as I just said that in front of a client…

“It will take some time, but it will be restored as it was before.”

I said that to Liddy-san with a smile as much as possible. Subsequently, Liddy-san’s expression appeared to be relieved. Alright, let’s do this!

On this day, all I could do was extend it by about 1/3. It’s still far from the shape of a sword. I wonder if this is a good learning for Rike. Tomorrow is the day that we will go to the town so from the day after tomorrow until the sword is stretched, it might be better to have Rike do it. Speaking of which, we’ll go to town again two weeks later. Though the risk avoidance is a little excessive but I feel that it is just right. I still have a lot of money for our living so we don’t have to rush going there.

Samia and Diana, who were out for gathering, picked a lot of blueberry-like fruits and leaves that smelled like peppermint. Before dinner, I put some sake in a small jar and soak the well-washed blueberries there. Let’s use some as sauce for today’s dinner. I washed the leaves that smell like peppermint well and then I bite on it a little. The smell of the leaves is stronger than the peppermint in my previous world. But since it almost taste like peppermint, I’ll use some of these leaves and make mint tea tomorrow morning.

Not to mention Liddy-san, both the sauce for our dinner and the blueberries themselves were well received by everyone. When I told them that I soaked some blueberries in sake and that we should drink it together, they all looked at me with their eyes shining. All the girls, including Liddy-san, appear to be girls in this way. Let’s just ignore the fact that Rike was jumping up and down. Well, that is the nature of dwarves after all…..

Our dinner on this day was lively as we talked about the foods that were eaten in Liddy-san’s village. As what she had said before, it seems that they usually eat birds and deer. However, she said that there is a fairly large field in her village so they eat more root crops and leafy vegetables. In this way, she asserted that she doesn’t have any pickiness on food especially now that she went out of her village.

Well, tomorrow is the day we’ll go to the town. Furthermore, there will be work from the day after tomorrow so I have to do my best.

Hagure Seirei Ino Shinsatsu Kiroku

Chapter 87: War council

After Astina-denka left for Wendell’s assembly hall with a few guards, we gathered around the round table after receiving Raquel-san’s summon.

“I’m Grass Weed. Please excuse myself.”

Upon entering the room, all the captains are already gathered there ―the Attack Captains, Presha-san, Bridget-san and Chloe-san, also the Archer unit’s captain, Dite-san and Solfa-san. They didn’t wear their armors yet to preserve their physical strength before we head out. All of them are wearing the official clothes of the Knights Order instead.

We sit in the prepared seats ―there are nine people, including me, sitting at the round table.

“This time, Lendl and Noin will also participate in the operation as magicians. As for Grass, this time, he will also be treated as a force of the Knights Order not as a military doctor. Is there any objection?”

I thought Bridget-san would give out her opinion but she just glanced at us and didn’t say anything in particular. Instead, Chloe-san, sitting next to her, speaks out while looking at Noin.

“We haven’t been told about her or on how she came to this fortress. But, does that mean that she has the appropriate ability to participate in such an important operation like this?”

Raquel-san did not answer immediately but she glanced towards Noin instead. Noin stood up from her seat and then she revealed her identity without any deception.

“I’m Noin Flores, a Court Magician at the 73rd seat. Until the other day, I was an internal spy for Zirconia.”

“Uh!…. S-Such…Why is that kind of person in this fortress…!?”

“That means… You were contacted during the infiltration in Zirconia.”

Chloe-san usually speaks in a hard tone that is typical in a warrior, however, during the war council, she uses a formal wording ―which may be her sign of respect for Raquel-san.

“That’s right. With an order against her will, Noin-dono had infiltrated Zirconia. However, she no longer had to obey that. Not all court magicians would be like that, but there are those who are trying to undermine the kingdom…. That’s why Her Royal Highness made such decision.”

Attack Zirconia ―then eliminate the immediate threats at the Western Territory. To do so, it is not enough to win a small victory in this battle. We must break the spirit of General Alejandro ―the “White Crow” who is in command of the enemy army.

“I have already participated in the attack on this fortress once. I helped the Zirconia army.”

Noin confesses ―even if she’s rebuked in this place, it’s an unavoidable fact.

“If I had participated in the next operation, I would have caused more damage. If you think that I should be killed right here, I only think that it can’t be helped.”

“There is no need to bring up about how we should deal with Noin-dono because it has already been decided. Grass also proved that it was not done at Noin-dono’s will.”

Everyone pays attention to me right after Raquel-san mentioned my name ―Noin also looks at me, but her gaze seems to hold some kind of reverence and such thing made me feel restless.

“Grass-sensei…? Dite-onesama, what does that…”

“Solfa, being too relax may affect whether you live or die. You and I are of the same rank, so please refrain from calling me in such manner.”

“Uh… Ye-Yes, Onee-….Captain Dite.”

Solfa-san hurriedly straightens her back. Even though they are both archer captains, there seems to be a clear hierarchical relationship between them ―senior and junior in knight school or something like that.

“I was once on the Zirconia’s side and I know that I cannot be immediately trusted by contributing to the Knights Order… However, could you please evaluate me by looking at my future works?”

Noin bows deeply. Seeing that, Bridget-san and Chloe-san seemed to have listened to Noin’s words.

“Although I have not fully taken in the entire situation yet, I have no objection if it was Her Highness’ and the Knight Captain’s decision. Relying on magicians is different from the previous strategy of the Order so we need to ask the soldiers to understand that as well, but….”

“I have no objection to that. I think I also understand what it means by having magicians participate in this war council.”

This would be the first time in the Knights Order of Isle Rose to have magicians formally participate in a war council.

It’s very important that Noin, who can influence the result of the war by herself, has followed this side. Up until now, from this side, the canal was only an obstacle to go to Zirconia’s side. However, it could now be used in a completely different way with Noin being a water magician. In addition to that, we also acquired our own warship.

Dite-san spread out a map on the round table ―it was something she had brought with her when we had infiltrated Zirconia’s fort.

“We deactivated their fort and took their commander, Baile, as a prisoner of war. When we interrogated him, we found that Baile was about to send a messenger to their King to report that he was not to be blamed for the failed attack under General Alejandro’s command. It is likely that Alejandro sent Noin-dono to Baile in order to restrain him and for him to command over Baile’s forces more effectively.

“In summary…. Noin-dono had infiltrated till she made it to be beside the “White Crow”, is what you’re saying, right?”

“What made him think that sending Noin-dono to Baile is going to work? Baile isn’t the only one who knows about their defeat. If he thinks that they would win by buying time, then I’d have to say that it’s simply his imprudence.”

Bridget-san’s opinion was a correct one, to say the least. But Alejandro was confident. If he uses Noin’s magic better, he can make the Isle Rose Fortress fall.

How would Alejandro move once he learned that Noin was gone? When he sees that he no longer has an effective way to attack Isle Rose, will he retreat to the Capital?―

But, is it possible for a soldier who makes such judgment create a name for himself? As Bridget-san says, he may still be thinking about ways to win.

“This Eastern Camp… this is the base of attack for Zirconia to attack us. With Noin-dono’s water magic, their warships can be concealed and they can move it to the east, they have attacked us across the river from two points.”

As the attacked party, the effectiveness of such operation is best understood by Raquel-san. Sixty-two dead and several more were injured ―everyone’s expression darkens when they remember that day.

However, the Zirconia Army’s surprise attack was one that had been established by relying on Noin’s magic. If they were to attempt to invade again, it would take time to get into position.

“In that battle, we were able to repel the Zirconian army…… and the damage was far greater on the Zirconian side. If they still think they can make this fortress fall, all I have to say is that it’s only their pride working.”

“Astina-denka thought it was now or never….. We have no choice but to win a ceasefire with Zirconia and solidify our territory which would then give us the opportunity to confirm what is the intention of those in the Capital.”

Capital ―The headquarters of the Knights of the Kingdom of Lezenia. Bridget-san, who has a strong sense of fighting for the kingdom, was reluctant to ignore the orders and rebel against the kingdom.

However, after fulfilling the original mission of “protecting the Western Territory”, there are some basis for breaking the order, “don’t invade Zirconia”.

“…I’ve been thinking about this ever since the incident with Vaiseck-san. I’ve been wondering whether not doing anything against Zirconia in this situation is to encourage us to fight hard, or, it’s the Capital’s lack of interest in the Western Territory… I thought that there is no way that such a thing is possible. That there is no way that His Majesty, the King would give up on the Knights led by Astina-denka.”

Raquel-san’s remarks were in consideration of Bridget-san’s feelings. Perhaps sensing this, Bridget-san revealed her thoughts. She thought that she was just evading the “violation of the order from the Capital”, but that was not the case. After some thought, she had chosen to endure the situation as it was.

“His Majesty has not abandoned the people of the Western Territory or our Order. But if I want to find out his true intentions, I have to move. We have not fought to this day to wait for this fortress to fall.”

Bridget-san agreed to Raquel-san’s words ―the intentions of everyone who gathered here are unified.

“Bridget can be counted as a force along with us, right?”

“I must also prove to you that I am not just a decorative sword. Dite-dono, I want to make a full apology for what I said at that time. I am truly sorry.”

“No, I’m the one who has gone too far with my words.”

Bridget-san and Dite-san reconciled. I’m glad to see that they got rid of their ill feeling for each other before the battle.

“Now then, about the operation… When the main team goes to Zirconia, they will completely borrow Grass’ magical power. The scale will be completely different from last time, but Her Royal Highness can do it with the current Grass. That’s what she said.”

Last time, when we crossed the river, I summoned the “floating prickly water lily”. Previously, I just created a path where each of us could cross by. However, in theory, it is possible to form a bridge to let a large army pass. It would also be necessary to summon it when returning to the Isle Rose side ― not that it was impossible to retreat, but it would take time to re-summon them to form a retreat path.

Ideally, we have to get the enemy forces to surrender before their reinforcements arrive. Even though they will be shaken up by our infiltration operation, Alejandro won’t just sit and stay his hands forever.

“However, if we just go at them head-on, the damage will be great. Well, there is nothing to say if the main unit can siege the enemy camp after shaking the enemy up. I want to avoid being forced to go out into the plains and going into a field battle.”

A way to shake the enemy ―the key would be the warship.

Simply moving a warship closer to the enemy camp is not enough to attract the attention of the enemy. For that part, we got something useful. It was brought in by none other than Zirconia.

“Knight Captain, may I speak?”

Noin was allowed to speak so she stands again. She pointed to a map on the round table, pointing to the point where the enemy camp and the canal were closest.

“Up to this point, I can use my magic to conceal and move the warship. If we appear in a position where the lookouts can see us, we can effectively shake them up.”

“Hmm… But when it comes to shaking them up, it may be difficult to do it with just a single warship.”

“If it’s on the water, I can protect the ship. However, my magic isn’t enough to attack enemies on land.”

It is possible to attack with a bow from the ship, but Zirconia’s fort is surrounded by high towers and walls so they cannot be hit effectively. And because of the expected rainfall, we can’t use gunpowder weapons like the usual ―this also means that neither the enemy can use their guns and cannons either.

I asked Raquel-san for permission to speak and proposed my opinion for the first time during a war council.

“If we can load the warship with cannon and fire it even in the rain, we can greatly shake the enemy.”

“Cannon… well, there’s one brought in by the enemy’s craftsmen. It’s a good idea to load it on a warship, but what about the weather? With the gunpowder moistened, we won’t be able to use it.”

“My magic can solve that problem. It’s not difficult to keep the gunpowder dry and protect it.”

Leslie guessed it without me saying anything. If she protects the cannon with the magic of air, we can shoot the cannon even in the rain, and the enemy side won’t be able to protect their gunpowder since they are not prepared for the rain.

“…Everyone is talking on the premise that it will rain. Did you expect it to rain in this sunny day?”

“If that’s what Her Highness has said, there’s no doubt about it. There has never been a time when her weather prediction has been off.”

“If it will surely rain… there is another way to shake the enemy army.”

Noin seemed to think that it wasn’t enough for her to play only one role in this battle. That was probably what Her Highness had in mind as well. A perplexing strategy in the rain that could only be done because of Noin’s presence ―it must be a nightmare for Zirconia.

“Raquel-nee, I’m not in the main corps, am I?”

Presha-san, who just listened quietly all this time, said that while smiling. Raquel-san somewhat opens her eyes wide.

“It’s a race against time. However, me and my horse can do it. It doesn’t matter even in the rain.”

There is a flame in her eyes as she said that―not of anger or hatred, but a flame of pride and fighting spirit as a knight.

Bridget-san and her colleagues were also amazed at the changes in Presha-san. Then they look at me ―they started asking me for a reason as soon as something happens…

“Noin, Presha, can you explain it so that everyone can understand it?”

When Raquel-san asked them, the two complied. Gasps are raised as they are amazed as to how magic can do that much.

As twofold and threefold measures piled up, the road to victory is being built. I gaze at Leslie sitting next to me―she was surprisingly calm even though she’s going to play an important role aboard the warship.

(―Grass-nii, I’m sure it will be okay.)

Using the spirit of the air, Leslie speaks to me in a voice that only I can hear. I was the one who wanted to reassure her, but Leslie smiled to me as if she could see it all coming.

Chapter 82: Change of plan

This advance chapter is sponsored by frozenman60. Once again, thank you guys for supporting my work. Enjoy reading! ^_^

Just like that, it took me until after noon to attach one side of the fragments together. I check the attached parts. There are glittering particle-like thing on it ―Liddy-san says that the magical power did not disintegrate, but it’s cut off at the joint part. I traced it with my finger, but I didn’t feel any seams. This means that this is not a seam on the material itself, but this part here is purely a magic break. It didn’t feel like that but it’s possible that it wasn’t completely joined on the inside.

If she continuously wields it in this state, some problems will occur eventually. It’s even been abused to the point of being turned into a few pieces so it will surely be abused again once it is repaired. It’s her weapon, and if something goes wrong with it, it’s likely to be fatal.

“Liddy-san, do you see this part here?”

I showed it to Liddy-san while pointing to the part that has just been joined. Liddy-san stared at it for a while, then before long,

“I see… The flow of magical power is cut off here.”

She muttered.

“Can you see it Rike?”

I passed the sword to Rike. Compared to Liddy-san, Rike spent more time checking it.

“I can see it somehow, but what stands out the most is the joint part that has been neatly attached.”

Then she returned the sword. I think it’s good if she can understand it somehow. I want her to grow this way. Needless to say, the other two is neither a blacksmith nor a magician. Even so, it seems that they can see a little, well, I’m not sure if it’s because of the nature of Mithril or because the two of them sometimes help with the blacksmithing work.

“Liddy-san, it’s no good if it is in this state, isn’t it?”

I don’t think it’s necessary to ask this, but it will be a different story if she says that as it was already broken once, it will only be used for ceremonies so it’s only necessary for it to have a good appearance.

“That’s right. I hope it will be restored as it was before as much as possible…”

“Right…”

I think of what to do with my arms crossed. If I hit it hard enough to a perfect level, it might stick together, but now I have to restore it back to the previous state. Well, if that’s the case, I think it would be better to pile up the fragments on top of the remaining part of the base, like “stacking and heating” to make a forged mass, and then stretch it from there. I’m confident that I can get it back to its original shape… I’ll be relying on my cheat and with this kind of power, it will probably be alright.

If that’s the case, the question now is whether Liddy-san will allow me to do that or not. The materials that make it up are exactly the same, but it will be almost as good as a new blade. Though the situation is the opposite of the Ship of Theseus, the essence of the question is basically the same, “Is it really the same thing?”

However, even if she says “just stick them together”, there is a high possibility that even the smallest fragment will not be recovered when it breaks. In the first place, it is impossible to completely “restore” a weapon in the literal sense. When I think about it, it is not so different from sticking or reattaching. The point is that the appearance can be completely restored, so the choice is either on its continuity as an object or on its performance.

I explained such things to Liddy-san. It is especially important to explain that the shape can be completely restored.

“In short, you have two options, stick the fragments together or to re-strike them. I guarantee that in both method, it will look exactly the same and it can be repaired.”

Liddy-san looks troubled as she listens to my words. Perhaps even if I try again, it will just be in time for two weeks. Unlike the time when I made the rapier, I can’t make the shape as I like, and the width of the blade is wider this time than that time, so it will take that much time.

However, I don’t know what other problems will take up some time, so if I want to make it in time, it’s best to start with it sooner. Of course, right now is the ideal time for that. That said, it’s not something that can be decided thoughtlessly because it is not possible to say “I can’t do it after all” right after re-striking it.

The sound of the charcoal burning softly on the fire bed echoed inside the workplace. Only that sound tells us that time has never stopped. We quietly waited for Liddy-san to make a decision.

Liddy-san was looking down all this time but she soon raised her face. With her eyebrows furrowed, she has this serious look on her face.

“Please strike it again.”

“There’s no turning back, is it okay with you?”

“Yes. Please do it. It will be better if I can use it as it was before.”

“Alright. Leave it to me.”

In contrast to Liddy-san’s rather distressed expression, I gave her a cheerful smile. Rike, Samia and Diana are also relieved.

“Well then, shall I resume?”

I tapped my cheeks and cheered out. If I can’t do a job that is not rejected by Liddy-san, the name of Eizou’s Workshop will be tarnished.

The shape of the sword itself is a standard longsword with no particular engraving on it. In order to keep track of the width, length and thickness of the blade, I brought in some timber from outside and assembled it into a sword puzzle with the same width, length, and thickness. I thought it would be easier to do it on this way.

I put the handle of the sword, to which the fragments were attached, into the fireplace and then I heat it. When the temperature had risen to a point at which it could be processed, I hammered the pieces together to form a square. It feels even harder than the rapier. It is important if there are any gaps left inside, so I hammer it firmly and carefully to put them together.

After several repetitions, from the middle of the sword, it looks like it has a small square board attached to it. I placed the pieces on the board to prevent it from collapsing. The pieces were then covered with straw rope and then I placed it in the fire bed to heat it. Unlike with steel, it is a little easier as I don’t have to worry about the oxide film at all.

I then removed the mithril from the fire bed when the outside of the mithril is slightly melted. I hammered the straw rope to remove any remaining embers and then I wait for a while to lower the temperature slightly. After that, I hit the mithril all together. As you might expect, it doesn’t feel like they are all put together in one go. As I mentioned before, the response I felt is still hard.

For several times, I repeated the process of heating, hammering then stretching and folding it back together, heat it again, hammer it once more, and then stretch it and fold it again. However, even with the use of my cheat, I still couldn’t get the feeling that it was completely put together. Before I know it, the sun is already tilting. This mithril work is going to take longer than I expected, and with that in mind, I told everyone I was done with today’s work and then I started preparing our dinner.

Kajiya de Hajimeru Isekai Slow Life

Chapter 81: Repair

After entering the workshop, I start with the puzzle. The blade of a slightly broad sword is divided into eight large and small pieces. The first step is to assemble this into its original shape. Of course, this work has nothing to do with my blacksmithing skills. The five of us, including Liddy-san, assembled the sword puzzle in a lively manner. Eventually, its shape will be assembled in this way.

Since it is made of Mithril, there are many parts that I do not have to worry about. If it is steel, the structure will change when it is reheated, so it is difficult to make adjustments after joining them. Such problem does not apply to Mithril, however, joining them back itself is difficult in the first place so it may be more difficult since it is Mithril. Well, with my cheat, I can manage to make adjustments after joining them if it is steel. After all, through my cheat, I know where to readjust the steel.

For the first step, I’ll have to attach it from the part close to the handle of the blade so I lit up a fire on the fire bed. Of course, it’s through magic.

“By the way, Eizou-san can use magic, right? Yesterday, you also magically ignited the furnace.”

Liddy-san, who was watching the scene, pointed that out. Well, it’s like an established practice in this house.

“Even if I say that I can use it, I can only use it to ignite fire just like now and create light wind you see.”

“With that alone, it would have taken some training you know. Also, it’s quite strange to say that you know almost nothing about magic.”

Liddy-san said that with a broad smile but her smiling face is quite scary. I guess she doesn’t trust me at all when I said that I don’t know much about magic. I was given a “minimum” magic and I didn’t practice it or anything like that. Also, neither Rike and Diana, let alone Samia, had any knowledge about magic. If anything, as the daughter of the Count, Diana should be familiar about magic compared to the other two. Well, I can’t tell if she’s not that knowledgeable about it… No, wait.

“Diana, are you not familiar with magic?”

“Uh, I-, I didn’t study that much in that aspect.”

Diana answers while averting her eyes. That is like cutting classes huh. It’s convenient if you can use it, but you don’t have to worry that much if you won’t be using it so it’s pretty simple to imagine that this boyish girl focused on swordsmanship instead.

“Is that so? I’m not really angry or something, so don’t worry about it.”

“R-Really?”

Diana is overtly relieved. With a sister like this, the Eimurl House must have been a sunny family.

“S-So that’s why I’m not familiar with it and my family does not know much about it either. Well, I’m ashamed that I don’t know much about it though.”

“I see……”

Liddy-san ponders about it. Since the fire bed has been sufficiently ignited, I grabbed the hilt side of the blade and the fragment closest to it with the pincers, put them in the fire bed and then I sent some wind to heat them. While pondering about it, Liddy-san watched me closely. Even if she earnestly talks to me about magic, I can’t really give her further information other than, “I’m just able to use it somehow but I’m not aware of anything in particular.”

I used my cheat to determine the temperature at the last minute then I take out the two parts at the same time. Since the temperature of the parts to be joined and its surroundings has risen, I ask Rike to help me in sticking them together and then I swing the hammer down. If this is steel, I need some borax, but thankfully, with Mithril, it seems that they will stick just like this. However, the temperature and the hammering are more rigorous than when I stretch things out normally. Compared to making new mithril armors, it’s hard to find a blacksmith who can do this.

After hitting it about 3 times, it has already deviated from the proper temperature. Since they barely stuck together, I put them in the fire bed as it is. I then adjust the position of the charcoal so that only the joint part is heated and then I send some wind in.

“This is hard.”

I muttered unintentionally.

“Do you think you can do it somehow?”

Liddy-san asked while squinting. I was so surprised by her voice coming from a close distance. Her face is actually quite close to me. Though I’m slightly flustered, I managed to reply to her,

“Well, it’s pretty hard but I think I can restore it. However, it will take a lot of time. I think two weeks is just about enough time.”

“So it’s really like that. Thank you very much.”

“No, it’s my job you see.”

I look back at the fire bed again. It’s about to reach a good temperature. When it reached the perfect temperature, I take it out again and hit it with a hammer. I carefully did that so the glittering part doesn’t fall apart for it not to have any gaps. With my cheat, I can see that if I hit it three times, it will stick a little. I’d like to increase the pace a little if possible, but if this collapses, all my work will be in vain. I put it in the fire bed again and start heating it up once more.

“Eizou-san can see the flow of magical power after all.”

This time, I heard Liddy-san’s voice from a distance.

“Is that so?”

“Yes. You’re hitting it that way so that the flow doesn’t break, right?”

“No. I mean, how do I say this…, I’m just trying to keep the glittering parts from falling apart you see.”

“That’s it!”

With a whoosh, Liddy-san approached me. Most of my field of vision is occupied by her sapphire-colored eyes framed by long eyelashes. She’s so close that I can feel her heavy nasal breathing on my skin. When I’m too pressured to move, Liddy-san straightened her posture.

“Ehem. Do pardon me. Anyway, that’s magical power. As expected, Eizou-san could detect it. It’s just that you didn’t know it.”

“I-It looks like it.”

When I’m hitting steel, I can see other things like its unbalanced structure, but I’ll keep that to myself.

“With this, one of my questions is answered.”

When I looked at Liddy-san, she has a friendly grin on her face, clearly in a good mood.

“Uhm, I’m glad to hear that.”

I replied awkwardly. I took the sword out of the fire bed and swing the hammer down once more.

Hagure Seirei Ino Shinsatsu Kiroku

Chapter 86: Sign of rain

About half an hour later, the moon moves a little and the amount of light coming in through the window changed. Raquel-san and the others are concerned about me, that I also need to rest, so they tried to gently lower Presha-san from my lap. Shortly after that, Presha-san’s eyelashes trembles and her eyes opened slightly.

“Hmm……”

“I’m sorry, did we wake you up?”

“Fu- ah?… w-what? I, before I knew it …Grass-sensei, everyone too… uh…!?”

Presha-san gets up in a hurry. And when she noticed me nearby, she flops down on the bed and hurriedly fixed her hair and corrected her sitting posture.

“You said that you want to put Grass-sensei’s bed in this room. But…, I somehow thought that you said that to counter Knight Captain?”

“T-That’s… I didn’t expect Sensei will come here, besides, if I know he would come here I would have cleaned up the room…”

“…You have changed after all. After Grass-dono came, you became a lot more cheerful.”

As Raquel-san said that, Presha-san’s mouth repeatedly opened and closed repeatedly  ―unable to refute it, her face turns bright red while Dite-san covers her mouth as she giggled.

“From now on, I think I’ll be able to get closer to Presha. Well, we were told at the Training Academy that knights should not get used to each other though.”

“…I, I’ve always respected Raquel-nee… as for Dite-san, I thought of you as a good companion, you know?”

“Yes, me too. It’s nice to be recognized as such, isn’t it?”

“Presha, calling me Raquel-nee……”

Maybe because she was embarrassed, Raquel-san tries to correct Presha-san’s way of addressing her. However, when she glanced at me, she cleared her throat.

“…Let’s leave that matter for now. How are you feeling Presha?”

“Eh…? Uhm- Well, I’m really fine… ah…?”

Raquel-san’s eyes widened –well, that’s because a tear ran down Presha-san’s cheek.

“…I …I feel like I had a very long dream … uh, R-Raquel-nee…?”

As she approached Presha-san, Raquel-san hugged her from the front. She couldn’t contain it, such feeling was also conveyed to me who was watching them.

“It will be good if the dreams you are about to have from now on will be about the future. Presha…”

“…Yes. That’s what I’m also thinking about. When I grow up, I may not dream that much…”

“What are you talking about? You’re still at a young age. You should get flowers from Grass-sensei and sometimes have a good dream and sleep.”

Leslie looks at me and tilts her head slightly ―as if she’s asking, “what’s with the flowers?” I took out a flower bulb and I asked it to produce some flowers.

“This is a “Night Flower”. If any of you or your subordinates has insomnia, I think if you put them on your bedside, you will be able to fall asleep better and sleep deeper.”

“…It’s a lovely flower. This… Grass to Dite…”

“Grass-sensei can’t be underestimated either. If he’s just that, Leslie wouldn’t be so calm, wouldn’t she?”

“Uh, I… It’s only because I should be in a position where I can heed to Grass-sensei’s…”

“Grass-sensei seems to be more relaxed if he finds out that you are looking after him as “Leslie” rather than as “Lendl-san” you know.”

“W-Well, that’s right… Anyway, insomnia can become the source of all kinds of illnesses. I think it’s time for everyone to take a rest in preparation when morning comes… W-Why are you grinning?”

Raquel-san and Presha-san are looking at me while grinning. Even Dite-san and Leslie ―it’s good that they are happy, but it’s uncomfortable seeing them grinning like this.

“Summoner-sama, your face is bright red. Are you shy?”

“…That’s surely the case. Just watching him like this is a little fun.”

“Laune and Rei… I’m thankful that you guys were worried about me but it’s time for you, kids, to go to bed right?”

“I want to sleep with the Summoner-sama today! Let’s prepare for an important battle!”

At dawn, Astina-denka will make a decision ―when should we move?

This is different from the past, where this fortress was only devoted to defense. From here on, we will strike and attack Zirconia’s base ―Raquel-san and others will also fight on the front line.

What can we do? We need to discuss that again ―what can we do by having the three spirits, spirits of plants, air, and water join together? We have to uncover that to the maximum.

 ◆ ◇ ◆

We returned to the medic’s residence and opened the door of our room. Right after that, Noin, who was at the desk, stood up and went over to us.

Noin is wearing a sleeping gown that is provided to prevent you from getting cold after the bath. As a water magician, she seemed to be able to magically remove the moisture from her hair after bathing, and her hair was smooth and dry.

“Grass-sama, please pardon me… I was thinking of staying inside the room and wait for you but a medic came to call me saying that the bath is ready…”

“Oh, there’s no problem with that at all. Keep yourself as warm as possible so that you won’t get cold… Uhm, first of all…”

Noin had her hair tied up with a string and she looks different than usual. In addition to that, she was wearing the glasses I use when I’m looking at the medical records.

“Noin-san, it belongs to Grass-sensei, so using it without permission…”

“Ah… S-Sorry. The light in this room is a little weak so it’s hard to see the letters without glasses…”

Since Noin was also supposed to assist me in my duties as a military doctor, I asked her to read the “guidebook” about first aid and long term care that I was in the process of writing myself.

Since my priority is to have them contribute as a magician, I thought it would be their first time to actually study as an assistant. When Noin takes off the glasses and returns them to me, she looks at me with something like a tickling look. Even I, who is slow at times, can understand it. It was a gaze full of respect.

“I can’t believe this book was written by Grass-sama… The words were so carefully written and easy to read, and the more I read it, the more it gets inside my head.”

Noin seems to be feeling bubbly, and her tone is mixed with a tone that is typical of her former self. From my point of view, she’s an honour student at the Academy, and since she’s my predecessor, it’s more comfortable for me that she’s speaking to me on equal terms rather than with her being so respectful.

“Because the content is dense, I’d like to take the time to read the rest carefully. But, I know that there’s no such thing as “absolute” in a battle.”

There’s no way I can go home alive. Noin’s eyes, which converse that, have a resignation that cannot be ignored.

―At least at the end, I want to die the way I want.

―I’ll going to tell them that I am not a tool. I’m going to show that those who only saw me as a “woman” who listens to anything they say.

At that time, Noin was still being consumed by the dark spirit and obeyed the Zirconia Army against her will.

I don’t have the right to know about how she felt in everything that she went through.

Noin’s words do not contain sadness and she seemed determined to accept whatever happened in the battle. Thus, while we still have time now, she intends to read the guidebook. Like how I told Presha-san, I also have to tell Noin.

“There is no such thing as absolute…. Surely, that’s what fighting is all about. Still, fighting to live should give you a better chance of survival than fighting to die.”

“….I think it’s exactly as what Grass-nii had said. We all have to go in the same direction…. Noin-san too….”

Noin didn’t respond to Leslie’s words for a while. I thought it wouldn’t be strange if she said it’s just an ideal theory.

―But, I was wrong. Noin sighed, then she relaxes her shoulders and her expression softens.

“….It’s the first time someone said that to me. Even if it cost our lives, Court magicians were told to die with a smile for the sake of the kingdom.”

Court magicians, who sometimes lead soldiers ―they are the pinnacle of magicians in the kingdom and are given great authority, but they also have great responsibilities.

I only joined as court magician at the last seat and I don’t even know who the highest ranking magician is. My stepsister didn’t tell me to be prepared to die, but for some people it’s only natural to be prepared for that.

“…There are only a few magicians who can deal with one army, but they are treated as someone who can be discarded.”

“Among the court magicians, the positions are clearly divided by the level. Except with the command of His Majesty, the king, those above the thirteenth rank will no longer be enforced. Jorg Frost, who placed that spirit in me, belongs to that.”

“In order to enter the 13th rank… or, did he join the second queen for him to raise his status as a court magician…?”

Noin did not affirm or deny Leslie’s reasoning. Maybe Noin also thought that Jorg’s principle of action lies in his desire for power.

“For such reason, to Noin who’s only newly appointed he…”

“…I also longed to be a court magician. I can’t use that as an excuse, I too refused to think seriously about it. Following the high-ranking magicians is for the kingdom’s good… that’s the way I thought…”

Noin tries to embrace her body. Her light blue hair drapes on her face and covers her eyes. She had been made to obey Jorg and the Second Queen in order to satisfy their private desires, believing that she would be good for the kingdom. Acting resolutely does not erase the events of the past. Hate, and regret –such things will always continue to torment a person’s heart repeatedly.

“….If you’re having a hard time, I hope you can tell about it to Grass-nii someday. It can also be me or someone else you like to speak to… If you’re willing to work hard for this Order, we……”

“That’s right…. We are comrades. You might think that we are just saying that because you’ll feel good listening to it but….”

When I said that, Noin wordlessly takes my hand. Her hands are cold –but the heat gradually returns as I touch it.

“…I’ll be troubled if the “worrisome” woman increases…. but, if you’re risking your life, it will be better to do it for yourself or for those who you want to protect.”

Before I knew it, Noin’s body had stopped trembling. Besides using medicine and magic, there are other things that a doctor can do. If Noin relies on me, I have to stand firmly on the ground.

“…That worrisome… you’re talking about me, right?”

“N-No, I didn’t think like that… Noin isn’t worrisome, that’s what…”

“As a fellow woman, I also have my own thoughts. Well, it can be because of my intuition working…. I’d like to come back alive and talk more about those things with Leslie. Mainly, about Grass-sama.”

In the end she still uses honorific titles when talking to me –it seemed that she’s doing not to overly thank me but because she wanted to do so. Even if that’s the case, I don’t feel that comfortable though.

 ◆ ◇ ◆

Eventually, morning came.

I was called by Her Highness’ maids and I headed alone to Her Highness’ residence after breakfast. I have just completed the “spirit mark” of Her Highness so she wants me to check her condition.

Soara and Karin invited me into Her Highness’ room and then they left. As I want to see the flow of magical power, I asked Her Highness to sit in a chair without a backrest. She then turns her back on me, and undresses. It was necessary and I was so nervous that I didn’t realize how I asked her to do it.

“….Grass. Before we attack the Zirconia, I will go to the town’s assembly hall in Wendell and talk to the Mayor. I also sent a messenger to the Reinfeld family last night.”

The Reinfeld family –a powerful family that unites the peasants on the Western Teritory. Their patriarch, Hartner-san, was ill, but I sent Laune to treat him so his condition has now greatly improved.

If we were to attack Zirconia in this situation, the Reinfeld family’s stand point might be to oppose it. Instead of forcing an attack in such state, maybe Her Highness is thinking that we should let this proceed in a logical manner through their sense of obligation.

“Understood, Your Highness. Your Highness had said that you would hold a war council at noon, but, will you be back by then?”

“I intend to. I will try to get them to understand, but if it takes some time to persuade them, returning to the fortress may be delayed. Still, I don’t think it will be late until evening.”

As I listened, I confirmed that there was no stagnation in the flow of magical power without touching Her Highness’ skin –the spirit marks drawn all over her body were responding to Her Highness’ magic power by themselves.

“How is it…..? My body felt a little bit on fire when I’m sleeping…..”

“Your Highness can bring forth a really enormous amount of magical power….. The sacred tree has spread its “roots” in this western territory and is being revitalized by the supply of Your Highness’ magical power. Even after doing so, I believed that there is still a surplus in you magical power.”

“I see, it’s like that huh…. Would I be able to suppress it a bit more if I took a lesson from Grass and train as a magician?”

“I, me teaching Your Highness is…. that will be very impertinent of me.”

I learned the basics of spirit magic, but I learned it almost in my own way from practical skills. Wouldn’t it be strange if I teach people just like that?

But as if to say something, Her Highness looks back at me over her shoulder. Since her bare chest are firmly hidden by her hands, there’s no danger even if she twists her body ―but for another reason, she makes me feel like pushing my hands on the floor and apologize.

“…..Is there really no way for Grass to teach me?”

I never imagined that Her Highness would have such an expression on her face.
She’s sulking –No, did she feel dissatisfied that I didn’t accept her request?

“T-That’s not the case at all. Your Highness can use magical power to strengthen your body and furthermore, I don’t think there is anyone else who has such spirit mark…”

“If it’s not impossible, then teach me. It’s fine with me if you teach me after this war ends without problems.”

It’s clearly a command but she used such soft tone –I’m more helpless to this way than being bluntly told to.

“…Do you think it’s irresponsible to make promises even before the battle is over?”

When Her Highness goes to battle, she also prepares for it. No matter how transcendental she may seem, even Her Highness is not certain that she will survive so she is also anxious. However, Her Highness will never show it in front of her subordinates.

For her to show that to me… I am more than honoured by that, above all, I must respond to Her Highness’ heart.

“No. Although it’s presumptuous of me, by all means, please let me do so. Please allow me to teach Your Highness the basics of spirit magic.”

“…Yes. However, I’m the one requesting you to do so. You don’t have to be so formal, Grass is a “sensei” after all.”

After she puts her clothes back on, Her Highness stands up –in the sunlight that’s starting to shine through the window, her standing there without armor is so graceful.

And when Her Highness approached the window and looked at the sky, she looks at me and said,

“It will rain by this evening. Around this fortress… and, on the Zirconia’s side too.”

Her Highness’s words suggested that the attack on Zirconia would be carried out today. I don’t feel any sign of rain looking in such blue sky. But since Her Highness’ said so, there’s no mistake in that―because as a shrine maiden, Astina-denka received that oracle from Yuserish herself.
